  • "Lovely, cosy cottage."

Clean and tidy. Would definitely go back again.

  • "Overall property was clean and comfortable."

..the bed and pillows extremely comfy and slept really well. The bathroom too is modern and a great shower. A quirky spiral staircase and beams add character. Parking spot outside front door is great. The property has a small outside space which is a bonus and somewhere to enjoy a coffee plus fenced off so our little dog couldn't escape. Location wise Osmington in an ideal position to pop into Weymouth plus days out further afield....we had a very good value meal at The Sailors Return in Chaldon Herring...pie night on Wednesdays! A few minor issues as regards kitchen equipment (needed a washing up bowl!) were dealt with very swiftly by Dream Cottages and owner so overall a very good experience.

  • "Very comfortable, beautiful quiet location."

The cottage itself was gorgeous, chocolate box, thatched roof cottage. Located in Osmington so a short drive into Weymouth itself. Everything was catered for, we loved playing Scrabble on an evening. The only suggestion we would have is that a bread knife would be nice to have. We've stayed in multiple places around Weymouth over the years and would happily stay at Laurel Cottage again!

  • "Excellent location and 20 mins in car to various places."

Sun in small garden through our morning. No grass area for dogs so headed to the fields and oastal paths, not a problem. Cottage has everything covered even coffee, washing up liquid etc. Also provide a hairdryer which was not mentioned in the description. The bed was really comfy and from John Lewis! Fab dual shower but sadly when we had a bath this leaked all through to ceiling to thd kitchen down thd beams. Sadly this had happened before as thd ceiling has yellow patches from previous leaks, I hope this gets fixed out of season as needs sorting, not good on the eye! Contacting Dream cottages/Skyes on Sunday and had a response on the Monday saying someone will be in touch, true to word on Tuesday the team called me and entered the cottage while we were out. Added extra draining liquid down the plug and this stopped the blockage but please please this must be looked at because it was a massive inconvenience to us mopping the floor and wiping thd kitchen units especially during dinner time. Would we go back or recommend....YES we would. Thank you.

provided. Being a Sunday it proved awkward to establish communication with the owner, however, Sykes sorted this out for us and the owner provided all that was required promptly and in a very friendly manner. The cottage was as described and with a small garden to the rear was a lovely spot to use as a base for exploring the local coastline and going into Weymouth. It is worth noting that the cottage does not stand alone but there is sufficient parking space, just. A very nice cottage which we may well visit again.

Thank you so much for your feedback, it's very much appreciated and pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage."

Clean and comfortable. Good location. Our one issue was the back garden. Property advertised as pet friendly but apparently this does not mean pet secure. This was a very small area that could easily be secured. We were assisted by very helpful couple who live on site. They supplied us with two pallets to block the area!!

Hi Nikki, glad you had a lovely time at Laurel. Thank you for your feedback - the back garden will be secured in due course so all furry friends can continue enjoying the space as before. Property Owner

  • "Great location, easy access to Weymouth and surrounding areas."

Comfortable and compact cottage in a picturesque setting, thatched roofed cottages. Good quality bedding and towels. Poor standard of cleanliness , blinds, settee and armchair need to be replaced. (dirty and stained). Interior paintwork needed cleaning or repainting. Glasses and crockery needed to be washed before use. Tiles in shower area needed a good scrub.

  • "Property was lovely and clean and very comfortable."

A very nice setting with all the other cottages. Farm shop was a short walk away with lovely homemade butter. A nice walk with outstanding views to the Smugglers pub. The park and ride was very handy, and Weymouth has a good network of buses. RSPB Arne is worth a visit, the cottage is very central. The best cottage we have had for quite a while.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We very much hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future! Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely time staying at Laurel Cottage."

Its very cosy and convenient. Lots of lovely places to visit. The one and only drawback for us was that it was absalutely freezing when we arrived and the heating is not adequate for cold January. It really would benefit by having a better system of heating. Other than that, we could not fault it. Beautifully clean and well equipped. If we booked again, it would be in summer months.

Thank you for your valuable feedback, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Laurel Cottage. Although the central heating is regularly serviced and maintained, we have noted your comments regarding the cooler months, and will ensure that the heating is left on to maintain an ambient temperature. • "A cosy cottage, good location for exploring Weymouth and the surrounding area."

It seemed as though the cottage had been recently refurbished. The thatch roof is now in the process of being renewed and did not impact our stay. The cottage could have been cleaner and we were requested to clean and tidy the cottage before our departure. However; no cleaning materials were left for us to do this properly. We were grateful for the dishwasher tablets. Shame there wasn't a dishwasher to use them in!!!

  • "Unfortunately we were a little disappointed with the cottage due to the damp smell and the amount of cobwebs."

The cottage was also not very well equipped especially the kettle which needs to either be descaled or replaced. The shower was also poor. We do understand the cottage is old but we live in an old property and do not have any of the above problems.

  • "Should have been better for the price."

Laurel cottage was let down by Dreams not paying attention to the details which turn a good holiday into a great one. Specifically and to help Dreams improve the cottage for the future: No welcome pack - not even milk to make a cup of tea. Cottage not as clean as we would have expected especially as access was not permitted until 5.00 pm. The armchair, settee, toilet and towel rail were tired and the windows very dirty. Printed TV instructions were inadequate but luckily someone had left a scrap of paper on which they had written how to operate the set. There was no oven glove but there were dishwasher tablets even though there was no dishwasher. There were no facilities for recycling and quite a few of the lounge light bulbs didn't work. The outdoor seating area is small and doesn't gets the sun and the archway joining Laurel Cottage to Magnolia Cottage could do with rethatching. The website and cottage details mention a pub near by.....it is closed and looks like it has been for about two years. On the plus side, the bed was extremely comfortable and the cottage nice and cool after a warm day's walking in the beautiful surrounding Dorset countryside. We enjoyed our stay but Dreams should take time and care to keep Laurel Cottage in the condition it and the price deserves.

Thank you for your detailed feeback which we take on board and will use to ensure we improve the offering in Laurel Cottage. We are delighted that you enjoyed your time in Dorset. Property Owner

  • "Laurel Cottage was blissfully cool to return to each day during this heatwave."

It does though, have a very hard mattress (double bed) which had a (possibly plastic coated?) mattress topper. These were not easy to sleep on. The shower could not stop going from too hot to too cold so baths were the only option. The cottage, did though, have everything we needed.and we enjoyed our stay.

  • "Ideal spot for travelling into Weymouth and surrounding area."

Cottage was cosy but disappointed with the compact outside deck area, which was surrounded by a tall hedge this restricted the sunlight. Instructions for TV and cooker could have been more explicit. Also we had trouble opening the front door from the inside. Fortunately the cooker and door problems were quickly resolved as a result a call to the customer service number. Good parking right outside the cottage. Overall a good experience.

About the location

OSMINGTON

Osmington village, sits on the Jurassic coastline of Dorset, just 6 miles from Weymouth with it’s infamous beach and historic harbour and just 11 miles from Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Home to the famous Chalk hillside carving of George III on horseback, cut into the hillside to commemorate the Royal visits to Weymouth, this landmark can be seen from miles away. It is also the place that John Constable spent his honeymoon in 1816 and where he completed his painting of Weymouth Bay that now hangs in the National Gallery. The South West Coastal path runs through Osmington Mills, a tiny hamlet on the edge of Osmington. Here many walkers start their coast path walks at the Smugglers inn, where reputedly there are historic connections to smuggling. Be sure to visit to find out all the stories. A short drive will see you reach a local convenience store at Preston. Weymouth offers a larger variety of shopping, eating and entertainment choices.
