  • "Jasmine Cottage felt like a big hug!"

We all felt at home as soon as we walked through the door. With beautiful walks on the doorstep, it was the perfect place to spend Christmas in an idyllic, cosy but spacious cottage.

  • "The accommodation was all as detailed and a ‘fun’ Hobbit house to stay in."

Compared to similar sized accommodation we have stayed in, we would have liked to have seen two ‘family’ sized casserole dishes in the kitchen where the excellent dining area lends itself to get togethers over dinner, the local information book being brought up to date and more cups/mugs as we were perpetually washing up the ones provided to use again. Overall a recommended premises, which is well located for local attractions, to stay in.

Thank you for your helpful suggestions! We will stock up the kitchen. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful cottage with plenty of room for up to 8 people."

Bathrooms/showers looked to be updated although the temperature was hard to control. Bath mats should have been provided. Perfect location for exploring the area with several good pubs not far away.

Thank you for your feedback! The shower thermostat has been changed and bath mats are always provided. Property Owner

  • "The owner was fantastic and communication was immediate and helpful when we needed it even though it was over the new years break."

The kitchen and dining area was perfect for our large group to gather with plenty of space to sit in the lounge too. The arrangement of the sleeping areas was also really good for a group of adults with every area having its own bathroom. Off street parking a bonus too!

  • "A beautiful cottage the kitchen dining room are great for gathering and games as well as eating, the stairs however are very steep one side with a rope to assist but once you are upstairs comfortable beds, but for the tall person staying here the two beams in the lounge will keep you alert."

  • "We stayed at Jasmine Cottage as we were attending my daughters wedding at the Tank Museum in Bovington."

Firstly I must congratulate the owners on having a truly lovely cottage in a great location. The stairs were pretty steep & you need to watch your head in places, but my 92 year old father coped just fine so I think anyone else will too. Everything we needed was on hand & we didn't want for anything, the only minor criticism's if they can be called that, is that the WiFi signal was not great outside of the lounge area, may I suggest an upgrade to a more modern Netgear or similar router, the mat outside the back door really could do with replacing & maybe the provision of a mat inside, we used one of our own towels as when coming in when it was wet meant a lot of footprints were being left. We brought our 2 dogs which are fairly small & could get between through & under the wooden gate which wasn't ideal, but we found a piece of wood to stop this from happening. But don't let these minor niggles detract from what was actually a great experience & I would have no hesitation in staying at Jasmine Cottage again, the location & many of the walks around the area are outstanding. One last thing for the benefit of the owners, you might want to check the gutters along the back as when it rained heavily watered poured out above the window, I did remove some debris the next day, but don't know if that helped as it didn't rain that heavily again.

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jasmine cottage."

We had one or two power outages during our stay and WIFI not very good as kept dropping out. Need slightly better instructions re waste disposal . We were not sure whether the recycling bin needed all bagging up too. Green box for bottles we didn't bag as this wasn't clear. Otherwise the cottage was ideal . Thank you. We may come back

  • "We were disappointed when we arrived that the grass had not been cut and the garden furniture was pretty grubby."

We found the mugs, floor and kettle in the kitchen grubby too. One cushion near the window had got some pretty grubby marks on it. Later we found the downstairs bathroom fan and towel rail didn’t work and so this bathroom was very cold throughout our stay. The beds were very uncomfortable with old mattresses and extremely thin duvets. We had to use 2 duvets to stay warm. The location of the cottage is great and we had fabulous weather which helped our stay.

  • "Just a couple of things the downstairs bathroom ventilator fan did not work."

We found the beds a bit on the hard side. Finally local information re the closest pub needs changing as the pub has permanently shut down and has been shut for some time which was disappointing. Generally location was great and cottage .is large and well configured. easy parking for up to 3 cars.

  • "We had a good week, mostly good, nice rustic cottage."

The downstairs bedroom was cold, we struggled to turn-on the heating (even after contacting the owner), we could not find any blankets or thicker duvets. Would have been nice to have a BBQ for use in the garden. We could not find a potato peeler (this is very minor issue).

About the location

OSMINGTON

Osmington village, sits on the Jurassic coastline of Dorset, just 6 miles from Weymouth with it’s infamous beach and historic harbour and just 11 miles from Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Home to the famous Chalk hillside carving of George III on horseback, cut into the hillside to commemorate the Royal visits to Weymouth, this landmark can be seen from miles away. It is also the place that John Constable spent his honeymoon in 1816 and where he completed his painting of Weymouth Bay that now hangs in the National Gallery. The South West Coastal path runs through Osmington Mills, a tiny hamlet on the edge of Osmington. Here many walkers start their coast path walks at the Smugglers inn, where reputedly there are historic connections to smuggling. Be sure to visit to find out all the stories. A short drive will see you reach a local convenience store at Preston. Weymouth offers a larger variety of shopping, eating and entertainment choices.
