  • "My wife and I enjoyed our stay very much."

It was quiet and relaxing with great views over the countryside. The facilities were excellent and we wanted for nothing. The beds were a revelation in their comfort and I am seeking similar mattresses for home. The owners were very accomdating keen to ensure our stay was all ok. I cannot finish without mentioning a small spotty horse who gave us alot of laughter with his mischievous escapades.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Uplands."

It was bigger than we expected and the view from the balcony was beautiful. The owners were so friendly and helpful and let us walk round the farm to see all their animals. It’s a wonderful place and I am very jealous. Obviously there will be animal noises and Suellen let us know on arrival that her dogs will bark when she puts them out of an evening. Just what you would expect in a rural setting. The accommodation was a great base for exploring Dorset, Somerset and Devon, which we did, and came home exhausted as the weather was scorching the week we were there, and came back to this wonderful place. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone who is looking for a rural retreat.

  • "Suellen was extremely friendly and welcoming."

It was lovely to observe the pony's, guinea fowl and geese in the fields from our windows. We were completely satisfied with the accommodation. Suellen had warned us that we may hear her dogs barking at times. They were heard mostly in the evenings when we assume they were let out. We acknowledge the barking may have been to protect the farm animals from foxes but it was necessary to close windows and turn up the TV volume to drown out the barking. It seemed that the dogs barking on the property appeared to set off a neighbours dog which yapped continuously. Other than this issue, it was a pleasant stay.

It was pleasant to see the ponies and ducks and guinea fowl in the field outside. The owners were friendly but we didn't see them often. I would definitely recommend this property.

Great view from terrace and adjacent bedroom.Pity that you can't enjoy that view from the living room. As it was too cold (early May) to sit outside, we took 2 armchairs from the livingroom and put them in the bedroom. Problem solved and we could enjoy the view from behind glass. Had very nice walks straight from the accomodation, thanks to the Ordnance Survey Map that was available at the accomodation. And what a luxury to have a bath!!! All in all we really enjoyed our stay. We recommend it if you are looking for a quiet spot!

  • "An absolutely awful stay."

You need to get someone to visit this property we swapped a quiet comfortable home for a dog barking the owner has decided to breed dogs now. Parrot squawking door banging motor bike running grandchildren running shouting at top of their voices and some sort of steel banging at 8 at night one night. Along with a radio running all day in the garage downstairs. Stale smoke smells from below us. This is a no smoking property. I shall be contacting in writing over the next number of days. They need to be look at again regards no `pat testing` done on any electrical items the cleaning is a lot to be desired too. As for the covers on the double bed barely covered the bed let alone when you got in it. This is not what we expected from your company, and we have had holidays in many cottages in the country so know what we can expect this one we have rated bottom.

I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay, and it is a shame that you did not mention anything when we saw you most days as we live on site and always more than happy to assist any of our guests. I hope that you can see that all of my reviews up to now have been extremely good and if I may clarify that the duvets are the correct sizes for the beds, the electricals in the flat have all been recently upgraded . We do not breed dogs, merely have 4 of our own and the motorbikes which you saw in the garage have not been used since last summer but this is a rural area therefore tractors and farm machinery can often be heard. We are a smallholding/farm that has many animals and a variety of birds that do tend to be vocal ie. peacocks, geese, guinea fowl, ducks and chickens but we do not have any grandchildren so are unsure who the noisy children are that you refer to were Thank you again for your feedback Property Owner

  • "Suellen and Pete are superb hosts at Uplands."

The accommodation is comfortable, clean, quiet and superb views over Dorset green fields and woodland. Our daughter loved the farm. The Guinea fowl, ducks, geese, chickens, peacocks, horses, cats and dogs - very charming having this area to explore and enjoy. Suellen and Pete showed us round many times. The local pub (The Griffins Head) was very friendly, but worth calling ahead to ensure it’s open and to book. We had a fantastic Sunday lunch there, really reasonable for dinner and pudding. NB. only takes cash though - very old school! Lovely walks around Over Compton and Nether Compton and very close to Sherborne which is a lovely town for shopping and eating out. We also had days out at Lyme Regis and Beer which took about an hour to get to, but worth it. We also visited the National Trusts Montacute House and gardens just the other side of Yeovil. That was also worth a visit to see how the Elizabethans lived. The castles at Sherborne are beautiful and the garden centre there is definitely worth a visit too. Uplands is a great base and was very relaxing.

The views from the master bedroom are stunning. You get to wake up overlooking a field full of horses and Guinea fowl! It was a great base for our holiday, and we were able to travel round to meet family and friends with ease. There is a large supermarket close by to stock up the fridge too. The hosts were great, they took my daughters around the stables and let them meet the horses, cats and peacocks. They had a great time, would recommend

I could not recommend the accommodation or owners enough. Their hospitality and kindness went a long way for the 4 weeks we stayed for our university placement. The accommodation was clean and set in a beautiful location which was a delight to wake up to every morning. The location of the property was central to Yeovil and Sherborne with lots of beautiful walks and things to do in the area. It truly felt like a home away from home. The owners have done an outstanding job to create such a place, stocked full of basically anything you could need. It was perfect for what we wanted, an escape to forget about everything going on recently and just relax. It is perfectly suitable for a family (sure a couple would enjoy it thoroughly too) and our daughter loved getting to see their wonderful animals on a daily basis. Surroundings are lovely as well and there is quite a bit of countryside to explore from the house if you enjoy a walk. It's within an hour's drive to several very nice beaches. There is a good selection of supermarkets in the next town (roughly ten minute drive). After a five night stay I'm unable to fault this holiday home. We felt looked after and were sad to leave.

  • "The property inside was quite adequate."

There was everything you needed for your stay. Unfortunately the double bed was very hard to lie on. The path of paving slabs leading from the parking area to the entrance door were slippery when wet and overhung by foliage and in my opinion could do with pressure washing as could the patio decking and furniture. The hosts were genial and very pleasant when we spoke to them. The only other point I would like to make is about their dogs. When let out last thing at night they would bark incessantly for ten to fifteen minutes before being called indoors again. During our stay here on one morning they started barking at a quarter to six and another morning at ten past six. Not the sort of time you want to be woken when on holiday.
