“As a previous reviewer had stated (Aug 2018) the cottage could do with a bit of TLC here and there.”

Overall it is cosy and charming, generally clean and tidy with fresh linen and towels. It is very well-equipped for a self-catering holiday, and at a lovely location in a wonderful part of England. However, little shortcomings can have a big effect on overall perception, as listed below: We arrived at the time advised to the owners in advance, the cottage was cold and none of the storage heaters were even switched on. The only instruction on how to best use them was to "adjust if required" (but no explanation of how) - on a cold breezy March week we were never comfortably warm downstairs in the evenings, though the bedroom and bathroom were toasty warm. The front door had a one inch gap at the bottom third even when firmly closed, which obviously didn't help re the above point. Most of the double-glazed window panels throughout the cottage are misted, spoiling both the impression and the views. There were a few cobwebs in corners, and one or two dead flies on kitchen blinds. The kitchen clock battery was dead, and the TV remote control did not work, despite us trying other batteries. There is plenty of information and brochures about the local area in the cottage, but it doesn't seem to have been attended to lately, as much of it is out of date - some as old as 2013! No-one has made an entry in the visitors book since July/Aug 2018 - it all made us wonder if we were the first occupants since last summer(?) We would love to visit and stay again in the future, but would need assurance that some care and time had been spent on rectifying the tired aspects.
