  • "Fantastic house, beautifully clean,well equipped, some lovely touches with the milk coffee & biscuits most appreciated."

    We had an issue with a leak from the bath but the owner Barrie was very understanding & even dropped a bottle of gizzard off for any inconvenience,there wasn't any but a very thoughtful thing to do. I would highly recommend this property to all friends & family

  • "Nice clean & tidy on arrival - essential items supplied by the owners are a great idea and most welcome."

    Beds were a little soft for our liking but plenty of room and storage space in the bedrooms. Very well stocked kitchen with all the utensils you need - would have liked to have a mop and bucket as felt a bit guilty leaving the property with footprints in the hallway!! All in all, a nice property and a good central base to explore Dorset

  • "One of the party is disabled."

    The sofa was low for her and a bit tricky to get up from. Despite the owner kindly coming to the house twice, we never managed to shut the downstairs shower door. Beautiful comfy beds and immaculately clean.

  • "The property on the whole was much smaller than led to believe, the garden was small but adequate."

    Downstairs shower totally unusable by any slightly disabled person. Lounge furniture no at all comfortable, would be better with a seatee and two armchairs for any elderly. But in a good position. Would have liked more information such as regarding the park for dog walking, also more information of extra garden chairs in the cupboard. A visitors book would be good to share information with each other.

  • "We had a really lovely stay and the house was perfect for what we wanted."

    It was well stocked and we appreciated the tea, milk and biscuits that were left for us to find on arrival. The only thing I couldn’t find was a vegetable peeler but other than that, we had everything we needed. Thank you so much.

  • "This is an attractive,comfortable,spotlessly clean property in an ideal position for all local attractions."

    Local shops,restaurants etc all within a minutes walk. Also local vet very close in case of doggy problems. Our dog appreciated the safe,enclosed garden. We will return to this cottage.

  • "The house was lovely and felt really homely."

    It was really well equipped and well layed out. The only two things that let it down were the downstairs shower which has poor water pressure and temperature problems as it keeps going icy cold. The downstairs carpets could do with being cleaned. Overall we had a lovely stay and hope to return again in the future.

  • "We’ve just had a lovely weekend in Bournemouth staying at this property."

    The house was perfect for our group, close to lots of shops, restaurants and takeaways and within easy driving distance of the beaches and the New Forest. The owners provided lots of great and helpful information for us before our visit which we really appreciated and made out stay faultless. We’ll certainly look to book this property again when we visit the area. Thank you so much!

  • "Overall a great property well located for exploring Bournemouth, Christchurch and further afield to the New Forest etc."

    More locally there is a great number of small shops and takeaways and two pubs within one mile. It is ideal for dog owners with a small but fully enclosed rear garden and the property itself is set well back from the road which provides a peaceful and safe environment. There is also a very large park just a 10 minute walk away. The bedrooms have good storage and having two bathrooms is great. However the shower downstairs has water temperature issues which changes whilst in use. The open plan layout of the well equipped kitchen / dining / lounge area works well but the sofa whilst comfy is only just large enough for four adults. The new Smart TV is excellent for log in to Netflix etc. The welcome gifts were much appreciated and enjoyed. Overall a well recommended cottage which we would use again.

    email received from owners before we travelled was well received and informative. all communication from Sykes was relevant and necessary. nearby there's a range of shops and plentiful restaurants and takeaways it felt like home from home, all kitchen utensils good quality, you could relax in the lounge or enjoy a BBQ in the small but adequate garden after a days sight seeing. would highly recommend this property, a superb holiday, from start to finish helped by this superb property

The property

4B Waltham Road is a charming detached cottage resting in Pokesdown, Dorset just a short drive away from the coastal resort of Bournemouth.

Sleeping up to six guests over two floors, 4B Waltham Road is a well-situated cottage for exploring Dorset, within easy reach of New Forest National Park.

Upon arriving at the property, there is an inviting open-plan living space where all guests can gather by the electric fire as you flick on the television, or sit round the dining room table to indulge in an evening meal that has been rustled up in the well-equipped kitchen, where there is also a handy washing machine and dishwasher.

Also on the ground-floor is a spacious shower room, and a double bedroom which is ideal for those who prefer ground-floor living.

Climbing upstairs, there is a double bedroom with ample storage and a dressing table so you can get ready in style, and a twin bedroom with a dressing table and plenty of storage so guests can unpack their personal belongings.

To complete the property, there is a bathroom so guests can relax in the bath or clean those sandy feet with a quick shower.

Christchurch 2.8 miles; Bournemouth 3 miles; Poole 8.7 miles.

Pokesdown is a small village, which lies just east of Boscombe and west of Southbourne, and is bustling with bars and eateries for all tastes and budgets, including; a seafood restaurant, fish and chips, a tapas bar, a bakery, a microbrewery, cafes, takeaways, pubs and sports bars, as well as plenty of shops to explore and grab any essentials you may need during your stay. There is also a train station, two lovely golf courses nearby, a skate park and the Vitality Stadium, which is the home ground for AFC Bournemouth. Within a short drive, you can enjoy the gorgeous sandy beach at Boscombe with its restored Victorian pier, or head a little further along the coast the Bournemouth beach and pier, where you will find an amusement arcade and boat trips along the coast. In the opposite direction, you can head to Christchurch where there is ruins of the castle and the 12th century, riverside house with a rare Norman chimney. In the early 19th century, Herbert Druitt got permission to dig up Lock's Field and a cremation cemetery from the Bronze Age was found, and many recovered urns were set to the British Museum, and due to the later finding of an axe head, it is known that people of the Iron Age were also present.
