• "Shower tray needs renewing, I cleaned head to get it to work properly, light bulb gone in there, did leave a note."

  On looking at the property you would think it was derelict as fenced off at front, the door to go in glass shattered. Scaffolding up in hallway and up the stairs, no one working on it. However we did enjoy our stay and views, would go again.

  Thank you for your feedback we have fixed the shower head and an electrician has replaced the bathroom light unfortunately there was a fire in the communal lobby so the entrance area was cordoned off for safety reasons but has been completely resolved and looks entirely different now i do hope you will return without this inconvenience which of course was out of my control and im glad once inside you were able to enjoy the fabulous views uninterrupted Property Owner

• "The window blind didn't function properly as was fitted incorrectly and has a fault with the fitting at the rail for three of the panels such that when you close the blind to keep the sun out the blind doesn't rotate properly."

  The walls are paper thin and the adjoining properties occupents can be heard easily and this goes on til late hours/early morning. There was no mention that people staying need to bring a sharp kitchen knife as one is not provided. There is no specified 'designated parking' for the individual property as stated is ambiguous at best as to where you can park (we had to ask a permanent resident).that in front is pot luck as to whether you can get a space, otherwise there is parking 100metres walk to the entrance from the other parking available (the sign states Buses only though!) At the least a simple map of the front of the main building to show where you can park would help people in the future. A smashed window of the front door on the main entrance to the building and internally looking like a building site was somewhat detracting.

  Thank you for the feedback. Sadly a guest forced the relatively new blind clearly not understanding how it worked but this has now been replaced. I do apologise if you didn't receive the parking instructions before arrival. I have now ensured each future guest will always be emailed these. Bags can be dropped to the door and there are at least 5 spaces directly outside the entrance to the flat for guest/owner use, if these are occupied then the huge car park is only about 20m away and parking is complementary at all times anywhere within it and there is always plenty of space for more than one car if required. I have bought an additional sharp knife I can only imagine a guest popped it in their picnic bag by mistake. The communal window and works which were damaged during an unfortunate fire in the communal area have now all thankfully been fixed. I hope you can return in the future without these concerns. • "I found the appartment exactly as described on the Sykes website."

  I didn't expect to be able to cook very much so I came prepared with easy meals. I loved being able to walk straight from the front door and the views were amazing! I was disappointed that the hotel next door wasn't always open for evening meals but I did enjoy their Sunday carvery, however. The breakfast at the Lobster Pot was very good too. Overall, I thought it was very good value for money.

  Thank you marion for your kind feedback i have since purchased a table top electric hob and some pans to extend the options for dining in so along with the convectional microwave, toaster and sandwich tosster there are a fair few options for self catering as well as the number of local eateries available so i hope this will now help future guests thanks again Property Owner

• "Amazing views, great walks."

  I'm a huge lifelong fan of Portland Bill and knew the area well. Maritime House is just back from 'The Bill' (tip of the island), up a small hill. You can walk to the Bill or Church Ope Cove, or the coastal path easily from here. The view is just incredible, full stretch of the water with lighthouses visible when it's not foggy! The accommodation was perfect for me and my 6 year old. Sofa bed is the most comfy I've ever seen (a real mattress) and the main bed is also comfortable. Shower room is nice, smart TV, WiFi works well. It's clean and tidy. The only thing I'd say is to be aware that it's pretty tricky to cook. I did use the microwave (might have tried using it as a combi oven if we'd been there longer) but it's not geared up for cooking. And also: the fantastic view does mean huge windows which let in the glorious sun so it was hot hot hot. I anticipated this and brought a fan. I suggest you do in July or August etc, although you may not need it. Owner was contactable and really helpful. Hairdryer provided, by the way! Overall, really recommended, we had a great time.
