  • “The cottage is lovely but the unadopted road leading to the cottage is full of massive potholes which made access difficult and could damage certain vehicles.”

We caught the sump guard on our Peugeot Partner a couple of times.

The property

Cobweb Cottage rests near the quaint village of Sutton Poyntz and is within striking distance of the bustling town of Weymouth and Dorset's glorious coastline.

This wonderful retreat is well-equipped for a week-long getaway and is spacious enough for a family seeking to explore the coast and countryside of Dorset.

Upon entering you are greeted to a real home-from-home interior, where the shabby-chic furnishings complement the traditional-style of this dwelling.

Venture into the sitting room and sink into the plush sofas whilst the woodburning stove offers a sense of comfort during a winter's evening.

Moving through the property will bring you to the dining room, where the French doors open up and allow a refreshing breeze to filter in during the summer months.

If the weather is on your side, relax on the upstairs decked area which adjoins the master bedroom, pour yourself a glass of wine and take in the glorious scenery.

Completing the interior are two twin bedrooms, designed to offer a flexible sleeping arrangement.

If you can tear yourself away from this property, venture into Sutton Poyntz where you will find a pub where you can admire the chalk horse carving.

Also within close reach is the bustling resort of Weymouth, where you will find a sandy beach and a colourful harbour to admire.

Cobweb Cottage is a wonderful retreat for exploring the delights of this coastal setting.

About the location

Weymouth 3.7 miles; Dorchester 5.4 miles

Sutton Poyntz is a small village on the northern side of Preston, on the outskirts of Weymouth, and it sits beneath the George III chalk horse that is carved into the hillside. At the centre of the village sits a beautiful duck pond, and the Springhead pub, where you can enjoy a drink in the pub gardens whilst admiring the chalk horse carving. Just 3.5 miles from Weymouth and it’s golden sandy beach, lanes of boutique shops, sea life centre and historic harbour this is a perfect village base for exploring the Jurassic Coast. Just 13 miles away are the UNESCO world Heritage sites of Lulworth Cove and Durdle, a short drive further on finds you at Corfe Castle, most recently known for being the inspiration behind many Enid Blyton Famous Five novels. Make sure you take a trip on the steam train on the Swanage Railway, which passes the magnificent ruins. A charming base to choose in a stunning part of Dorset.
