The property

A pretty 18th century thatched cottage located next door to the Owner’s cottage, lying in the heart of the village of Sutton Poyntz, tucked away in a lane at the bottom of the surrounding hills.

Fox Cottage is set over two floors and offers plenty of stone cottage charm with two stable doors, stone walls, a fireplace and deep window seats.

A characterful stable door welcomes you, and through it you will find a cosy sitting room with stone fireplace and gas coal effect fireplace where you can relax and unwind.

Climb the spiral staircase up to the master bedroom where you will find a charming window seat, perfect for curling up with a great book.

The kitchen breakfast room on the ground floor is amply equipped and has an attractive private courtyard at the back through another stable door, it’s a real suntrap and perfect for enjoying alfresco meals in the warmer months.

Adjacent to the kitchen is a ground floor twin bedroom ideal of younger guests and you will also find the shower room off the kitchen.

Step out of the front door of Fox Cottage and you will find yourself spoilt for choice with walking options, there is even a footpath that starts at the end of the cottage’s road.

Wander through the idyllic Dorset village of Sutton Poyntz, stop to watch the ducks on the village pond and keep your eyes peeled for views over the white horse carved onto the hillside.

For those mealtimes when you don’t want to cook, walk to the local pub to enjoy a tasty meal and a drink.

Sutton Poyntz is a small village on the northern side of Preston, on the outskirts of Weymouth, and it sits beneath the George III chalk horse that is carved into the hillside. At the centre of the village sits a beautiful duck pond, and the Springhead pub, where you can enjoy a drink in the pub gardens whilst admiring the chalk horse carving. Just 3.5 miles from Weymouth and it’s golden sandy beach, lanes of boutique shops, sea life centre and historic harbour this is a perfect village base for exploring the Jurassic Coast. Just 13 miles away are the UNESCO world Heritage sites of Lulworth Cove and Durdle, a short drive further on finds you at Corfe Castle, most recently known for being the inspiration behind many Enid Blyton Famous Five novels.
