  • "Bright airy accomodation, everything clean and in good condition."

Nice to have quiet appliances in combined lounge / kitchen / diner. Rooms quick to heat up in the recent frosty weather. Just 2 of us this trip but with decent sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms plenty of opportunity for 'quiet time' if used by 6 people. Would definitely recommend.

Accomodation exceeded our expectations, photos do not do it justice. Very clean, very comfortable and everything you could possibly need. We all slept very well dispite the heatwave of 31 degres!. We spent lots of time just sitting reading on the patio and enjoy the lovely views over the fields, very peaceful and relaxing. Safe and secure garden for our mini yorkshire terrier who enjoyed laying under the bushes in the shade to keep cool. Local recreational ground 5min walk away where she was able to run off her lead. We visited Cheddar, Wells and Street shopping outlet all in easy reach. Lots of lovely local farm shops and friendly pubs close by. High chair and nice big travel cot provided. We highly recommend the Rectory Lodge and will certainly being staying again in the future. Thank you so much for a fabulous holiday

We were greeted with a bottle of prosecco and milk in the fridge, coffee tea and sugar by the kettle, toilet rolls in the bathrooms. The owner called to make sure everything was ok not long after we arrived which we thought was a lovely welcoming and they were on hand if we had any problems during our stay. Would definitely recommend Rectory farm Lodge set in the beautiful Somerset countryside and not far from some really picturesque villages

  • "The accommodation, garden and setting was lovely and I would recommend staying here."

I only have three small niggles, which have been commented about by others who have stayed before us. if the owners rectified these it would only make the holiday experience in their lodge even better. The showers did require a hand rail, especially the en-suite walk in one which can be used and appreciated by a disabled person. The addition of a DVD player in the living room, to give extra choice on a dark wet evening. The side gate to keep children and pets safe within the back garden is I understand a newish and appreciated addition. With keeping dogs safe in mind though, the front gate and hedge and side fence between the two properties does need wire being added. A smaller dog can easily get through and wonder. This is a worry when getting dogs in and out of a car, and one does not want to have to keep putting them on a lead, or having to check where they are all the time whilst unpacking on arrival or repacking on departure. This is the second time I have used Sykes cottages and have found them very efficient and helpful and reasonably priced.

It worked well with 6 adults and a small baby and it was very clean. If i had to be really picky, the only down side was the flies, which you cannot help being next to the Cows and a farm. I personally like seeing the cows in the morning. :)

  • "The property is perfect as a base for exploring the beautiful Somerset countryside."

It’s very well equipped, comfortable and despite only being a couple of years old is clearly well looked after. The owners are very helpful and take good care of you during your stay. The only minor things that could possibly be done to make the property any better is the inclusion of a dvd or blu-ray in the main area and perhaps a television in the main bedroom.

  • "We stay in many cottages and holiday homes and feel value for money was not met."

We found the weekend price was above average for a cottage that didn't offer any extra for the cost. All though the cottage was advertised to be dog friendly we would highly disagree. We actually decided against taking our dog after reading reviews just before we left. The garden isn't secure at all. My dogs would of easily got through the poor fencing and front gate which is situated on a main road. We booked the cottage because it was meant to be pet friendly. We had to pay £100 to kennel our dogs after reading the reviews which put the cost of the holiday up again. The cottage is really clean and had plenty of parking.

  • "What a lovely place!"

! This new [ well a year old] traditional looking home is just wonderful. It may look like a log cabin on the outside but the inside is beautifully and tastefully appointed in the most modern style [Shiona obviously has an eye for these things]! It was a home from home with everything you could need for a lovely holiday. The weather was scorching and having the bi-fold doors in the family room made it easy to be out on the patio - where there was a table, chairs and parasol - plus a BBQ for al fresco dining. The master bedroom had doors onto the patio too - and we slept with them open, it was so hot. The lodge is ideally placed for visiting South Somerset and Dorset. We visited the Yeovil Show - great fun, the heritage railway there, Weymouth [ twice], Bovington tank museum, the Fleet Air Arm Museum and the Haynes car museum - plus Wookey Hole and Street [the Clarkes Outlet Village]. We loved watching the planes from Yeovilton - and counted the helicopters coming home every evening! A great holiday - thank you!

Great views. Well equipped. Everything modern. The heating baffled us and the bathroom door needs looking at- my daughter got herself locked in! We took our dog but as she’s young and quite small we couldn’t let her outside without being in a lead as the gate and fences would have allowed her to have escaped into the road. We found Shioba to be friendly and helpful. A comfortable stay. We would return in better weather.
