“Booking process made it easy.”

A lovely property that we thoroughly enjoyed. The house and grounds are well looked after so much so we felt like we were in a 5-star hotel. We took a long walk out from the property and the landscapes were magnificent. Next time we are in the area we will book it again.

“We stayed here with our whole family and our little dog and loved the accommodation including the spacious farmhouse kitchen, with plenty of room for family dinners.”

The TV room is a wonderful place for the youngsters to 'chill' and the beautiful drawing very welcoming for the grown ups to relax in. Lots of charming pubs nearby and plenty of country walks. The house is very well equipped and everything in perfect working order. A quiet, peaceful location with farmland views and easy access to local amenities and places to visit. We would highly recommend West Hatch Cottage and hope to return one day.

“We wanted a place to celebrate my birthday with our children and grandchildren.”

We were blown away when we got there as the house is so roomy and fully equipped. There are two king size beds plus a twin room and a single. We soon felt at home and spent most of the time playing and relaxing in the garden. None of us wanted to leave and aim to return. Would love to also go there again with friends as you can spread out from the spacious kitchen into the drawing room or the TV/playroom. Thank you for renting out such a lovely house.

The house was excellent, had everything we needed and was very nicely presented - the table football in particular had an extensive workout, and the log fire was much enjoyed. The weekend must have been a success because the kids never wanted to watch the TV!

“The house had everything we needed, plenty of room and the beds were very comfortable.”

Lovely weekend break for 7 of us away from our normal busy lives. Children loved the games room with the table football (so did the adults). Kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to cook meals from scratch. Oven was a bit dodgy but this was documented well by owner. Only down side was previous people staying at the property never cleared up their dog mess and I was unlucky to tread in some in the back garden. There are no local pubs or shops you can walk too so this needs taking in to mind. All in all a lovely hidden gem. We would stay again and recommend to others.

“We had a fantastic time at West Hatch Cottage for a friend's birthday.”

The cottage is in an idyllic setting with plenty of space outside to relax and unwind. The rooms are huge and there is plenty of space internally as well with a huge living room and games room and then off the stunning kitchen/diner another large living room. I would not hesitate to recommend this setting. We will be considering it again, I just know it.

“We found this gem whilst looking for homes to buy in Wiltshire.”

This area is one of our favourites. Easy access to the dear old 303 to travel west to my side of the family and equally easy for my wife's kin in Surrey. Salisbury is a lovely city full of charm (although with a frustrating ring road where you are beleagured by roundabouts).

The property

In a private location on the Wiltshire-Dorset border and set back in its own grounds from a quiet country lane, West Hatch Cottage is an attractive, substantial building with a particularly tranquil feel.

Despite the name, is in fact a very spacious house with accommodation for seven guests plus room for a little one if required.

You'll find really comfortable rooms throughout, all of which invite guests to kick back and relax.

The main bedroom is particularly elegant with its traditional furnishings and antique furniture.

Stepping Outside onto the terrace you'll be wowed by the incredible views as well as the extensive lawns providing a safe haven for children to play in.

About the location

TISBURY

Shaftesbury 12 miles; Salisbury 15 miles.

An interesting, lively village on the Wiltshire/Dorset border, well served by a good selection of inns, shops, a library, a bank, a garage and with a regular rail link to both London and Exeter. The village is set in the valley of the River Nadder, a good fishing river which gently meanders its way down to Salisbury and where herons, grey wagtails and even kingfishers may be seen - a bird watchers paradise! Along the valley, the lush green countryside provides superb rural walks and cycling. Full of history, the nearby mill predates even the Domesday Book. A visit to the local churchyard reveals a famous 1000 year old yew tree and also the graves of Rudyard Kipling's parents, who lived here. The village serves as a great year round base for exploring this interesting area. Within a short drive are Wilton House, Shaftesbury, Old Wardour Castle, Stourhead, Stonehenge, and the beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury.
