  • "Good location in a quiet cul-de-sac."

Easy to walk to harbour and town. Also great base for walking the coast paths Lyme Regis to Lulworth Cove. House was clean, well equipped, plenty of space and suited all our needs. Thank you. On a personal preference firmer mattresses.

  • "We enjoyed our stay but a couple of things need addressing to make it 5 stars from us."

There was a lovely range cooker but no oven gloves. We only cooked pizzas but to do a full meal they would be an asset. Also we had lovely weather so it made the bedrooms really hot. We left windows open at night but it didn’t make much of a difference because it was still very warm during the night. The availability of fans to use would have been great to help us sleep. The information folder needs updating. The wii code in it is wrong. We managed to find it because we have the same provider at home so knew where to look for it. The last thing I want to mention is the washer. Maybe think of changing to a washer dryer when it needs changing. I washed our towels on the Weds evening and was going to put them out Thursday morning but we woke up to rain. I went to the office, which luckily was not far from us, to see if I could have more towels and the lady there said I could take them to them and they would dry them for me. Picked them back up later in the afternoon. Great service. We loved the location of the house and hope to book another stay in the future. Thank you

  • "We have stayed at Captains cottage for the past 2 years but the standard of cleanliness particularly in the bathrooms was not up to standard !"

A lot of sticky muck behind the sink pedestals and in the corners. A used tissue under the main bed along with fluff and dust under the other 3. A lot of dust under both sofas and on inside window ledges . Once again no mid holiday clean , as we were there for 2 weeks . We did have clean laundry, but only after a phonecall was made, and we had to strip and make beds ourselves . I know this is self catering but surely this service should be included . We will not stay there again although a great location as the price for next year is over a £1000 more than paid this year and seems a bit of a greedy increase when things aren't 5 star perfect !!!

Thankyou for your valuable feedback. We are sorry to hear the cleanliness was not up to standard. We are always here to help during your stay. At present for guest and staff safety we are not offering mid stay cleans, this is something we are hoping to reintroduce. Property Owner

  • "I was a little Disappointed that although you had delayed our arrival by two hours for a ' deep clean' due to covid that there was alot of dust present in all bathrooms at the back of the pedestals and window ledges, urine stains on the toilet hinges and dust under the sofa by the window."

But they are only minor things house had everything you could want loved conservatory and comfy setters.

  • "Very disappointed there wasn’t some sort of welcome pack ."

It is the first time I have arrived at accommodation and there hasn’t been something at least to make a hot drink. It was a very late check in time and after a long journey it would have been nice to find something and not had to go and find a shop. The house is very nice and well placed. The addition of the nice garden furniture was a welcome but couldn’t use the sun umbrella as it kept blowing away a base would be good.

  • "We had a fabulous time staying at Captain's House and felt that our holiday was enhanced by having such a super place to stay."

As we've said .... exceptionally clean and very comfortable. We had only two slight problems but these are suggestions, not criticisms. The front door step was quite high and our 86 year old mother struggled with it. We arrived after 5pm and had to go straight out to the shops for milk and toilet roll. A small welcome pack would have been very welcome.

Great location too. Worth mentioning also has a hairdryer and you supply washing up liquid and a bottle of cleaner so that people don't have to bring them. Would definitely stay again if came to that area.

I understand with covid 19 it is difficult for a cleaner to enter but a time could have been arranged and we could have gone out !!! We kept the house tidy but not great to have to do housework when you are on your holiday . Apart from this everything was excellent.

  • "Our Christmas break with friends was delightful."

The house was immaculate and with the two bathrooms met our needs exactly. Being just a few minutes walk from the harbour and near the town meant we didn't use our car for the entirety of the visit. An added bonus was the Christmas Day swim across the harbour, not that we participated, but it was a really enjoyable morning of entertainment of which Weymouth should be very proud. We found plenty of coffee shops, good restaurants and a very buzzy Christmas atmosphere. A great few days away.

Plywood outside to the left of the side gate not a very attractive feature when sitting in the lovely conservatory. No blinds to hide the eye-saw on that side of the conservatory. No salt or rinse aid in the dishwasher, which was not a problem for us, but it is not good for the machine. House very comfortable and ideal location. Few minutes to the shops and harbour and also coastal walks. Very quiet cul de sac. Very enjoyable holiday.

Cold as heating off and couldn't work out manual - clearly written instructions would be useful. Lack of cooking dishes - several large glass fruit bowls but few for oven. Glasses all too big to go in dishwasher. Not homely, rather sterile in house and garden.

About the location

BREWERS QUAY HARBOUR

Dorchester 8.7 miles; West Lulworth 15.8 miles

Brewers Quay is the old Victorian brewery situated at the heart of the harbour, in Weymouth, Dorset. Much of the grade II listed complex and surrounding brewery buildings date from the late 1800 early 1900’s and many have stones inlaid commemorating their construction year. This area is now a popular destination with many restaurants, café and bars, creating a vibrant culture, where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. Tucked away down the harbourside streets, you will find original Tudor harbour buildings, estimated to have been built in 1600 and well worth a visit, with a very interesting history to share. You will also find the Weymouth Museum, with some incredible exhibitions, and the harbour is also home to the lifting bridge, where you can watch the luxury yachts head out to sea, and then walk over the bridge to the town's winding streets of boutique shops and the seafront esplanade and beach. There is more to this seaside town than meets the eye; Brewers Quay is a much-loved holiday destination in Weymouth!
