  • "This was our second stay at this lovely little cottage."

It’s very well situated for town, beaches and pubs/ restaurants. Great to have a few essentials (washing up liquid, toilet roll, cloths and tea, coffee, little milk cartons and biscuits) available on our arrival although I had taken some of our own. We had a lovely break and hope to return again soon.

On arrival disappointed house location on a hill. This property is not suitable for anyone with walking disabilities. No downstairs loo. The garden very uninviting in need of a makeover. We did have a comfortable stay. We cut our holiday short left on the Thursday. Would'nt return.

I understand Fort Nothe and Gardens are an attraction but there is a big problem with Anti social behaviour 're young idiots in noisy souped up cars and motorcycles riding up and down....also very disappointed there was no parking permits issues any more . The outside step was also a problem as my daughter is having mobility issues...I feel these sort of things should be on description ,We was so annoyed with the noise and the difficulty with the step we cut short our week by 3 days so didn't get value for money . If we could move the house to any other location in Weymouth we would go again but sadly we won't be using it again.

  • "I feel that Dream Cottages or Sykes should check their properties more often."

Guinea cottage was appalling in terms of the lounge, furniture, rug, door mat all filthy, light shade broken, ironing board cover covered in mould, ancient rusty chest freezer, no wardrobe. Lean-to roof completely green. Dirty outside chairs, no bin for leaving rubbish in back yard. When reported to Dream Cottages, David turned up and sorted many of these problems straight away, so that was much appreciated, but really the damage was already done. Once you have seen the state of the furnishings, rugs etc, I am surprised more people haven’t left immediately. If I was the owner I would be ashamed, but I guess if you are getting the money, you don’t care. The only good thing about this property is its location.

  • "The location of the cottage is amazing."

The cottage generally was very good. It was basic but we expected that. However, there were a few things with the house that could be improved. The door handles on a number of doors were loose. Also loose panels on the top bunk bed. The rug in the living room filthy. The settees also filthy and could do with replacing. Also a leaking shower. The screen is not long enough for how powerful the shower is.

  • "Cottage was in perfect location, close to the harbour and Nothe gardens."

Kitchen was well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and the heating system super efficient (a plus as we had sunny but pretty cold weather). The rear courtyard, although rather scruffy, was a wonderful sheltered suntrap, and a good place for reading on a lazy afternoon. We were also glad of the parking permit, which covered the Nothe car park at the end of the road, but also several other local car parks. Slight confusion about collecting the rubbish and changing towels as we stayed for two weeks rather than one, but a minor thing easily sorted.

  • "The cottage was clean."

The beds were comfortable and the bedding was clean and as was the towels.. The the armchairs were a bit dirty especially the arms of the chairs. The fire in the sitting room area didn't work and there were no instructions for it. The heating only came on twice a day which was first thing in the morning and then again in the evening so it was cold sitting down in the afternoon. I also thought the pictures on the website did not fully show the true inside of the cottage. It was very pricey for what it is. I know it was half term but why they increase the rate so much I really don't know. Parking permit was very good.

It was very clean. The bedlinen was lovely and the bed comfortable. There were a couple of things that were not satisfactory... The key safe was impossible to use.. I couldn't see or manipulate the numbers and had to get some friends to come and help me. Also I would have appreciated it if the bolts were working on the kitchen door as this would have made me feel a little more secure.

Could not get lower oven to work think it is broken. Could do with an outside bin if rubbish not collected until end of stay as no were to store full bags which also could be provided. The property is very well located and parking permit is useful not only for local car park. Definitely a property for 2 adults with or without children rather than 3 adults because of second bedroom.rest if property was spacious Be careful of steps leading to backyard which had a nice sunny aspect but could do with a pot of flowers to brighten it up

We drove to Dorchester, Swanage, Lyme Regis & our favourite Durdle Door & spent the day on the beach. Weymouth Beach is also lovely with the dog friendly area right next to the Pavilion. The cottage itself was very unloved & could do with decorating as it's nothing special rather basic not what you expect when your paying over £600 for a week but all the towels & bedding were very clean & fresh. We found the lean-to very useful as we kept all our beach gear out there, also very good for drying towels with the washing line in there & the clothes horse, there's also a washing line in the yard but it's very grotty out there & not a nice area.Front door stiff to open & close but all in all we loved our week here & would book again for the location!! oh & Nothe Gardens are at the end of the road & lovely with a play area & the Tuesday Market in Portland is worth going to!You can also park in the road outside the cottage if you can get a space we only used the car park twice.

If I were to rate the holiday for your initial service before our holiday and location of the cottage it would be 4 or 5 stars however the cottage its self has a few issues. I was fully expecting a small dated cottage you can see that from the pictures. Unfortunately I would only give the cottage 2 stars. Its location is excellent but it was let down by some maintenance and cleaning issues, listed below. Front door lock very difficult to lock on leaving the cottage. Cracked peeling plaster by front door. Poorly fitting bath panel. Steps to patio area uneven heights, patio area its self in poor repair. But the worst of all was the lean too conservatory which looked like it had not been cleaned in months if not years. I will email photos if required. We loved our visit to Weymouth and are thinking of returning later this year, however we will not be booking this cottage again.

It was clean and comfortable and well equipped and there is tea and coffee, sugar and biscuits to start you off, but do remember to take some salt & Pepper and sauce and vinigar if your eating in!. The sette and chairs were comfy which makes a nice change from elsewhere I have stayed and I didn;t want to get out of the double bed it was so comfy. The bed linen was of good quality and smelled lovely and fresh. It was really handy for the park up the road for walking the dog and the sea is literally around the corner and close to the shops and bars and harbour all within easy reach, just a 3 minute walk. I've never been to Weymouth before but I would definately return. Some really great places to visit close to hand, Durdle Door is a must and Porland beach gives some fantasic views of chisil beach on the way back. Stayed September 2015

About the location

BREWERS QUAY HARBOUR

Dorchester 8.7 miles; West Lulworth 15.8 miles

Brewers Quay is the old Victorian brewery situated at the heart of the harbour, in Weymouth, Dorset. Much of the grade II listed complex and surrounding brewery buildings date from the late 1800 early 1900’s and many have stones inlaid commemorating their construction year. This area is now a popular destination with many restaurants, café and bars, creating a vibrant culture, where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. Tucked away down the harbourside streets, you will find original Tudor harbour buildings, estimated to have been built in 1600 and well worth a visit, with a very interesting history to share. You will also find the Weymouth Museum, with some incredible exhibitions, and the harbour is also home to the lifting bridge, where you can watch the luxury yachts head out to sea, and then walk over the bridge to the town's winding streets of boutique shops and the seafront esplanade and beach. There is more to this seaside town than meets the eye; Brewers Quay is a much-loved holiday destination in Weymouth!
