  • "The cottage was lovely, decor was nice and simple but comfortable."

The location is great close to all the amenities and great for walking. Will definitely use Melanie cottage again

  • "Brilliant location."

We chose the cottage because we regularly visit Weymouth and love this side of the town. Having an allotted car parking space is also brilliant and makes moving in and leaving days so simple. The beds were comfortable and the shower was excellent. Living area was ok but not a cosy as some of the other cottages we have stayed in around the harbour area but was adequate for our needs.

  • "We loved our stay at Melanie's Cottage, description was very accurate, it was easy to access the gates and the keysafe."

This is a clean and beautiful cottage in a central area close to everything one might need, including the shops, sea/harbour area, cafes, restaurants. Agency was very quick to respond to our note that TV was not working, this was on New Year's Day when we did not expect them to be working (TV sound works only) ; this not being an emergency & waking up later than usual, we just wanted to have a quiet day. Comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen. Would recommend this cottage and would consider returning in the future. The 'Happy Hamper' goodies, milk on arrival in fridge, and lit-up Christmas tree were all a lovely touch, much appreciated. Thank you.

  • "The property is in a fantastic location within easy walking distance of plenty of restaurants, bars, shops, seafront etc."

We loved the fact that the property is gated as we felt very secure, as well as knowing that when we left the car there for the day/evening it was more secure, it was also a very quiet location. We found the beds very comfortable and slept very well here. The bathrooms were spotless. Just a couple of very small points that are easily/cheaply remedied would take our review to 5*. When we arrived there were 3 mugs in the cupboard that had tea/coffee stains around the top, I imagine the last drink before the previous guests departed - it was a shame this wasn't rectified by the cleaners. The dishwasher was also smelly as the filter had not been emptied and was full of the previous guests food that had not been rinsed from their plates before placing in the dishwasher - again could easily be rectified by the cleaners. As others have mentioned, it would be helpful for a shelf or some kind of caddy in the shower for your items so you don't have to lean across and get the floor wet. Unless you are very careful showering a LOT of water goes over the floor making it very wet and slippery. Would be helpful for an extra floor towel or two to soak it up.

Thank you very much for your positive feedback. The Cottage is indeed in a very secure, quiet area and in a great location. We apologise for the dirty mugs, we will liaise with the Agency as this is not up to the quality standards we aim to offer. For the bathroom, we want to let you know that we will shortly carry out some work to put a shelf in the shower and also install a shower door, that will make it a much more welcoming bathroom. We would be delighted to welcome you again. The Owners Property Owner

  • "This is a very comfortable spacious cottage in a quiet gated environment."

It is close to all amenities and has a carparking space. Unfortunately during our 7 day stay we had 2 failures of the central heating and hot water system requiring us to contact the office and 2 visits by engineers. Information for the owner---the mugs are very old and appear to have been cleaned with steel wool resulting in scratches. It would be useful to have a milk jug and a shelf in the shower for the soap.

We are happy to read you like the cottage and the location. We are really sorry you had issues with the hot water system. We are going to do some work during the winter and we will look at this in detail as the boiler is under two years old. We apologise again for the inconvenience. Thank you for pointing out the other information, we are going to visit the house at the end of October and we will check that everything is in order and will replace/buy any items that are needed. We endeavour to offer the cottage with very high standards. Thanks again and all the best. The owners. Property Owner

    !!

We are glad you enjoyed your stay at Melanie's cottage and liked the location. Sorry to read you didn't like the kitchen stools or the lounge armchairs. We try hard to please everyone and chose to have high stools in the kitchen to give it a pub feel and make it different to the dining area in the front room. As per the armchairs, these are made by a renowned British manufacturer and we thought they would please the majority of the guests. It is very difficult to accommodate everyone's preferences. With regards to the main gates, they open automatically just by advancing the car towards the gates. There is no need to get out of the car when driving out. The lovely people at Dream Cottages would have told you how to get out if you had issues with the gate. All the best. The Owners. Property Owner

  • "The property was clean and spacious, but the master bed was very uncomfortable."

Lots of the bowls and even the teapot was chipped, there was no soap for washing hands and barely any toilet paper. We usually use Dorset Cottage Holidays who always provide a generous welcome pack of milk, bread, and local produce so we were very disappointed with the few teabags and coffee sachets that were provided. The area was rough and noisy, although gated people came and went at all hours. We heard a window smashed within close proximity followed by shouting and bad language in the early hours of one morning.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to read you didn't like the bed which was chosen after careful consideration in order to please as many people as possible which we are glad we are managing to deliver it. We are also very disappointed and surprised to read some of your statement about the area being rough and noisy. This is a first as the property is in one of the most sought after areas in Weymouth and indeed very good and safe. Clearly you were unlucky but it is got nothing to do with the property. We regularly check and replace any equipment which fails short of the quality we want to offer. Thank you. Property Owner

Bin in kitchen was broken and dirty was told we would gas new one which didn’t happen , found ladies pads in tv unit draw , found lounge chairs very uncomfortable. Bathroom shower wasn’t clean at the bottom. Apart from that everything else was good especially the location. I feel if the cleaning team did their job it would get 5 stars but afraid they let the owners down. We would have loved to say we would come back to this cottage again but due to the things we have listed we have booked somewhere else for next year .

Thank you for your feedback. We are really sorry you had issue with the cleaning. We completely share and understand your frustration as this is unacceptable. We have raised this issue directly with Dream Cottages / Skyes Cottages and they will make sure this doesn't happen again. • "Melanie's cottage lived up to every expectation we had."

Everything in the cottage was as listed and we would highly recommend the cottage to anyone who wanted to be central to the Weymouth facilities with the knowledge of knowing the property and your vehicle was locked behind secure gates at all times. A two minute walk leads you to the harbour itself and on the way there you pass a number of pubs and a café all of which were well worth a visit. Within a ten minute walk from the cottage you are in the centre of the shopping centre and the beach is just down the road from there! All in all, when going back to Weymouth I wouldn't bother trying to find anywhere else to stay.

We were kept warm in the coldest week of the year . However, we found that to make this property more cosy and user friendly a clock or two and a few minor things in the kitchen ,ie serving tongs ,were needed. Also there is a total lack of carpet or rugs in the living room and bedroom which would have been nice to have. About the location

BREWERS QUAY HARBOUR

Dorchester 8.7 miles; West Lulworth 15.8 miles

Brewers Quay is the old Victorian brewery situated at the heart of the harbour, in Weymouth, Dorset. Much of the grade II listed complex and surrounding brewery buildings date from the late 1800 early 1900’s and many have stones inlaid commemorating their construction year. This area is now a popular destination with many restaurants, café and bars, creating a vibrant culture, where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. Tucked away down the harbourside streets, you will find original Tudor harbour buildings, estimated to have been built in 1600 and well worth a visit, with a very interesting history to share. You will also find the Weymouth Museum, with some incredible exhibitions, and the harbour is also home to the lifting bridge, where you can watch the luxury yachts head out to sea, and then walk over the bridge to the town's winding streets of boutique shops and the seafront esplanade and beach. There is more to this seaside town than meets the eye; Brewers Quay is a much-loved holiday destination in Weymouth!
