  • "Location good but the overall comfort of the property was misleading certainly not what we had expected."

The house was spotlessly clean but would not really accommodate 8 people comfortably as only seating for 5 at a push in the lounge. Unfortunately the mattresses were extremely poor and very uncomfortable.

  • "We had a lovely weeks holiday in October 2023 at Newtons Cove Retreat."

What a lovely house, we were so happy when we arrived, its absolutely gorgeous and spotlessly clean ! Its only a 5 minute walk to harbour and over the little bridge into Weymouth centre and the lovely beach. Could not fault this house at all, we absolutely loved it

  • "Newtons Cove is a fabulous property in tip top condition in a great location with easy access to Weymouth town and the beach."

There is also a small beach nearby where two of our group went early morning swimming. The house is well equipped with all the appliances you could wish for and there was even buckets and spades and fishing stuff left for children. There were 6 ladies in our group and we found it difficult to all sit together other than at the dining table. The sofas were not as comfortable as we would have wished! Also the bed in the double bedroom on the middle floor was the hardest bed I have every tried to sleep in, yes I got the bad bed! We were disappointed that there were no recycling bins available and so one of our group took filled black bags home to help save the environment. Despite these little niggles we had a great week with fabulous weather and would certainly revisit this lovely property.

The house was ok the beds were very uncomfortable and sofas in front room were not comfortable either had terrible time drying the washing no tumble dryer paid 27 pounds for a dog thought might supply items for the dog and stair gate was not very good only could lean against the banister

  • "The house is beautiful and spotless, shame fridge and freezer both turned off when we arrived, and then the freezer broke n all our meat defrosted."

The freezer was quickly replaced though by Dream Cottages, big thumbs up. The fridge is not big enough being a small under counter, which is why we’d frozen our meat, and also there is nowhere in the property for everyone to sit together, only outside in the garden which is ok when the sun is shining.

  • "Lovely refurbished accommodation."

Plenty of space for our party of 3, not sure about accommodating 8 people. Would say 6 to the max! Well within walking distance to town & beach. Would definitely use this accommodation again if returning to Weymouth.

  • "The property was exactly as described."

It is an older property, but the conversion is excellent, very comfortable and with all modern fittings. It is situated in an area very convenient for walking into the town. The parking of three cars at the property presented no problem. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was very helpful and genuinely keen that we would enjoy the holiday, which we did. Altogether a good experience.

  • "Lovely, modern and comfortable house, in a very central and convenient location."

We had a great week at Newton’s Cove retreat and would definitely recommend it, and stay here again. We always book near the harbour as there are so many nice restaurants, shops and bars in easy walking distance. It’s also wonderful to walk around the coastal path to Nothe Fort, then grab a coffee by the sea at Stone Pier Cafe, and walk back ‘home’ along the harbour path. The house had everything we needed, and the courtyard garden is sunny and pleasant, with an outside dining table. The 2 parking spaces were a bonus. Friendly neighbours too!

It was well appointed in terms of amenities and very clean and warm. There was plenty of space for eight guests to relax and we appreciated having four bathrooms. The company were quick to respond to a couple of small issues. I would certainly come and stay here again.

  • "The property is in an excellent location, very clean and the rooms are very spacious and ultra modern, the parking is brilliant as it is very difficult to park in Weymouth."

The only thing I would suggest to the owner is the mattress on the double bed on the first floor double room may well need changing as my husband and I found it very hard and it felt like the springs were digging into you, I had to sleep on top of the quilt to get any comfort and fall asleep. Perhaps if there were some small TV's in the bed rooms then it would have been the perfect stay. Hopefully theses small changes will not be over looked as this would be a shame as the property is stunning. Well worth a visit.

Weirdly the only grumble and the only thing that appears to have been scrimped on in the house are the sofas in the front room - really, really uncomfortable.

  • "A well resourced house in a great location."

Easy walking distance to the harbour, town centre and beach. I would definitely stay her again. Our only issue was having one front door key. Fine if everyone went out as the lock box can be used. Not great if you were leaving a sleeping teenager in the house - do you take the key and hope they don't need to go out or post it through the door and hope they are awake to let you back in? Our request for a second key was denied.

The house was very comfortable providing everything we needed for our holiday. Thank you for providing the little extras like the tea & coffee, dishwasher tablets, and the 2 toilet rolls for every toilet. All the showers were excellent, hot & powerful and having a toilet on every floor was very useful. The kitchen provided everything needed with plenty of cupboard space. I couldn't fault the house in any way and the position was excellent, not too close to be noisy but not to far away. It is less than a 5 minute walk to Brewers Quay and a 15-20 minute walk to the main Weymouth Beach, which we found comfortable to walk. All in all a fantastic holiday with brilliant weather.

The only negative was that the two sofa's in the living room were very hard, so not very comfortable to sit and watch TV in the evening, but that didn't spoil it for us. The location was excellent within a short walking distance to the harbour which made it easy to get around. I would definitely recommend this accomodation.

  • "The only reason I gave a 4 for comfort was because the mattress on the first floor bedroom was so bad it gave me and my husband a bad back."

And the only reason I gave a 4 for cleanliness was because there were some parts of the house that hadn’t been cleaned but it was strange as most parts were immaculate. Otherwise everything is five star and we loved the house.

Thank you for your valuable feedback and glad you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry you found the mattress uncomfortable; the bed was brand new this season. We look forward to welcoming you back to Dorset again soon. Property Owner

About the location

Dorchester 8.7 miles; West Lulworth 15.8 miles

Brewers Quay is the old Victorian brewery situated at the heart of the harbour, in Weymouth, Dorset. Much of the grade II listed complex and surrounding brewery buildings date from the late 1800 early 1900’s and many have stones inlaid commemorating their construction year. This area is now a popular destination with many restaurants, café and bars, creating a vibrant culture, where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. Tucked away down the harbourside streets, you will find original Tudor harbour buildings, estimated to have been built in 1600 and well worth a visit, with a very interesting history to share. You will also find the Weymouth Museum, with some incredible exhibitions, and the harbour is also home to the lifting bridge, where you can watch the luxury yachts head out to sea, and then walk over the bridge to the town's winding streets of boutique shops and the seafront esplanade and beach. There is more to this seaside town than meets the eye; Brewers Quay is a much-loved holiday destination in Weymouth!
