    The only thing I could criticise is the whole outside area needs TLC, furniture very old and uncomfortable. The shower heads need attention too.

    some light bulbs had blown The microwave was dirty Fan in upstairs bathroom didn't work. Handle on same bathroom door wrongly fitted which meant the lock didn't work Clock in kitchen needed a new battery

  • "Lovely setting."

    Kitchen a little tired but had all that is needed. Flies evident but to be expected as near farm. Only disappointment was poor communication with owner over barn issue during stay and the child gate at bottom of stairs which could not be removed thus a trip guide for a member of our party with some sight issues. Owner aware no children in party. Overall, lovely accommodation.

  • "Nice barn conversion but the kitchen was a little tired with not enough cutlery and mugs unless you washed after using them for each meal."

    Worth making clear that the lounge area is upstairs and therefore not where the dog was allowed - ours whined to be with us if we sat up there without him. He also struggled on the wooden floors in the main downstairs area. Lovely area and a central base to explore from.

    Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay in The Barn. The kitchen is fully and well equipped but is in our next phase of updating the cupboards and worktop. There is plenty of cutlery (12 place settings) which is enough for 6 guests. There is a large dishwasher in the kitchen so no washing up of cutlery needed. It is expected that after each meal, the dishwasher would need to go on. We do hope you enjoyed the other new recent improvements made to the property, including the brand new bathroom ensuite to the furthest bedroom downstairs and the brand new wood burning stove in the sitting room. The pictures do clearly show the sitting room as on the mezzanine level upstairs and in the description it does clearly say First floor living area. You could have taken your dog upstairs to the living room. The bedrooms are all carpeted but the communal areas , including living rooms are all tiled or have wooden floors which makes them pet friendly which is both usual, practical. I do hope we see you again! Property Owner

  • "We booked The barn for the month of December."

    The owners Annabelle and Roland were very welcoming and we arrived to fresh laid eggs, wine and local honey. The barn was perfect for our family Christmas and was very comfortable and well stocked. There was plenty of room for us all to relax,cook and play the board games provided. There are a lot of local hiking trails from the farm, and is a very pretty area. Would definitely book again.

  • "Beauiful cottage."

    We really enjoyed our stay at Whitebridge Farm. Two things could be improved: - The glass front makes it very hot when the weather is sunny. Some protection against the sun (sun shades/curtains) would make the cottage so much cooler. It would also give a little more privacy. - And we would have appreciated shower facility's in every bathroom, that makes it easier to wash your hair. Only one bathroom had a shower and we had to take turns to use it.

  • "Abwicklung über Sykes unkompliziert, Infos zur Schlüsselübergabe ausführlich und rechtzeitig."

    Das Haus ist wie beschrieben großzügig und schön. Die ganze Anlage ist ruhig und weitläufig. Im Haus liegen die drei Schlafzimmer weit auseinander, das zweite EG-Schlafzimmer befindet sich im Anbau (für Familien mit jüngeren/ängstlichen Kindern vielleicht nicht optimal), durch die Waschküche erreichbar. Es gibt nur eine Duschmöglichkeit, im Erdgeschoss erreichbar durch das Doppelzimmer, die beiden anderen Bäder haben keinen Duschkopf/Schlauch, nur Wanne mit Wanneneinlass. Wir hatten traumhaftes Wetter (letzte Juni-Woche, 28-30 Grad Celsius), mangels Beschattungsmöglichkeit wird das Haus mit der großen Eingangsfront gegen Süden zum Brutkasten. Nachts aber herrliche Abkühlung! Der Spielplatz ist in die Jahre gekommen. Die Sauberkeit war ganz ok, die Ausstattung mit Geschirr zu gering, dafür etliche Auflaufformen und zwei Kühlschränke. Alles in Allem ein eigentlich sehr schönes Haus in top Lage, ruhig gelegen und hübsch dekoriert, aber unstimmig in Einrichtung und Ausstattung. Wir würden das Haus wieder buchen und auch für Familien mit Teenager-Kindern empfehlen. ****Stars

  • "We really enjoyed our time at the barn."

    We took our octogenarian parents for our annual holiday with them. My mother suffers with dementia but found the layout of the barn easy to navigate and felt very comfortable there. My mother in law isn't very mobile but the ground floor bedrooms and seating area were ideal. My one and only piece of constructive feedback would be for the owners to install more than one shower in a three bedroom property. Whilst the details are an accurate account of the facilities, one of the photographs shows a shower hose in the upstairs en-suite. That said we would have no hesitation in recommending or returning to this property.

  • "We had a fabulous stay at whitebridge farm , lovely owners and the the barn accommodation was spectacular!"

    ! very spacious and lovely interior. I would have to be picking but there is two things I would change I would have a bigger TV and mounted on the wall and have proper showers fitted in all ensuites for those that can't manage the bath. The location is beautiful but you must be willing to travel to explore , perfect for relaxing though. And best of all dog friendly!! 10 out of 10 !

A well-presented Victorian attached barn conversion, one of nine holiday cottages on site, grouped around an attractive grassed courtyard setting in a peaceful, rural location on the borders of Dorset and Wiltshire, one mile from the village of Sedgehill and less than three miles from Shaftesbury.

Comfortably furnished and well-appointed throughout, this Shaftesbury holiday cottage offers an ideal touring base for families or groups of friends who wish to explore this lovely area.

The exposed beams and vaulted ceilings in the impressive dining area in the entrance hall are a real feature of this Dorset cottage, which also has an imposing dividing staircase leading up to the mezzanine sitting room with log burning stove on one side and to one of the three en-suite bedrooms to the other, and together with an attractive farmhouse style kitchen with breakfast table, there's plenty of space for everyone in your group.

There is a pleasant shared lawned area with a dedicated BBQ, to the front of this cottage which offers a great socialising space.

The front of this cottage also offers a great socialising space, whilst the younger members of your party can enjoy the swings and trampoline in the designated play area.

Both the South Wiltshire and Dorset cycleways pass nearby, and there are numerous way marked walks to choose from, including the Shaftesbury town trail, which leads to the famous Gold Hill of Hovis advert fame.

Alternatively browse Shaftesbury's array of fascinating shops or take refreshment at one of the many dog friendly inns.

There are numerous historic houses to visit within an easy drive of your Dorset cottage, including the National Trust's stunning house and gardens at Stourhead, or Longleat House and Safari Park, whilst Bath, Stonehenge, historic Salisbury with its magnificent cathedral and even Dorset's Jurassic coast are all easily accessible.

SHAFTESBURY

Salisbury 21 miles; Bath 30 miles.

One of Dorset’s prettiest and most historic towns, Shaftesbury is perched on a spur of rolling green hills, and the views in all directions are without comparison. Lush green meadows, woodland glades and outstanding architecture are all within a short walk. One of the best vantage points is from Gold Hill (Ridley Scott's famous Hovis advert was filmed here) with its quaint, cobbled and very steep street. Visit the ruins of Shaftesbury Abbey (a place of great pilgrimage from the 11th century) or navigate the intricate and ancient lanes. Bath, Salisbury and Sherborne are all under an hour away, or drive through the stunning countryside of Blackmoor Vale down to the coast at Poole, Bournemouth and Weymouth. A beautiful area, that still carries the flavour of the very best of the English countryside.
