  • "Would have liked the hot tub maintained during our stay."

    But not a major problem.

Many thanks for your feedback. You arrived on Thursday, the hot tub was freshly filled and water quality and chemical levels were optimum. The hot tub was checked on the Friday of your stay and treated accordingly. As you left on Sunday morning it was not considered necessary to make another check of the hot tub on Saturday. We do ask that guests get in contact if they are unhappy with the water quality and we had no communication from you re water quality at any time. What was the issue that you had please so that we can improve our service for guests going forward? Property Owner

Lovely touches eg fresh oj and milk in the fridge, coffee beans, tea etc to facilitate a nice cuppa on arrival…also, fresh flowering plants a great addition. Loved the location, and owners immediate response when a minor hiccup presented itself. Only one comment on the flip….size of twin room only really suitable for children, but that said, would return ….thank you!

  • "A good looking property but a number of issues faced at the property, no hot water, no central heating, no under floor heating, towel rails not working."

First night meant having cold showers. hot water was fixed next day but then dipped again towards end of stay. Plumbers came round to try and fix heating and radiators but were not successful. Flies in kitchen, plates and pans not left clean on arrival and crumbs in cutlery tray. Not great signal with TV and remote control. Games room doesn't have a table tennis table (as shown in photos). No tumble dryer or washing machine with dry option was available and towel rails not working made difficult to dry towels and clothes. One electric towel rail was provided to dry clothes, which had to be cleaned first as it was filthy with mud and dust. The hot tub could do with a proper clean and with an interim mid week clean during a week stay.

Just to clarify that as soon as we were alerted to an issue with the heating and the hot water we had a plumber arrive within a few hours. The plumber thought that he had fixed the issue and we checked with the guests the following morning and were assured that everything seemed to be working. Confusingly the information we were given was not correct and as soon a s we realised this we again had a plumber out to the property very rapidly. Very unfortunately the issues with the heating were ongoing and we did everything we could to mitigate the inconvenience. The towel rail was my own and I did not realise that it was so filthy! It is very clear in the listing that we have provided a washing machine but not a tumble dryer. The hot tubs get regular checks throughout the guests stay. We can only apologise that there was a dead fly in the countryside and will look in to ways of stopping all flies in the future. • "An excellent property, large, comfortable and ideal for a group of friends."

It was well equipped. On the slight downside, we all found the beds far too soft but this, of course, might be personal preference. There was nowhere in the showers to put soap, shampoo, etc except on the floor which is less than ideal for anyone, but particularly for older people, and the heated towel rails were NOT heated. All the rooms were warm, however, so the heating was obviously working.

After your feedback we have placed shelves in the showers for soaps and shampoos etc. The towel rails are working after a visit from a plumber! Property Owner

  • "The Gully is lovely!"

The kitchen & games room are well equipped & the spacious open plan living room area opening up onto the garden is ideal. The hot tub was great! The only suggestion I have would be to add a grab rail by the toilet & in the shower of the wet room off the ground floor bedroom. We stayed with my mother who has mobility issues & she felt this would help her feel a little safer. Everything else was spot on. We will certainly consider another holiday at The Gully.

On arrival we were happy with the accommodation how ever we were able disappointed when the hot tub wasn't hot on arrival and when we was playing pool there wasn't any chalk and hardly any soap in the bathrooms it was a lovley stay and we all enjoyed ourselves only a few little things thank you for letting us stay

Thank you for your feedback. We take hygiene very seriously with regards to the hot tubs and as such the hot tub is fully drained at the end of every guests’ stay and then refilled with fresh water. This does mean that the hot tub is not always up to full temperature on the Friday evening but is by the Saturday morning. I will refresh the chalks for the pool table and make sure that all of the soap dispensers are full to the top. We are very glad to hear that overall you enjoyed your stay and hope that you might consider a trip to beautiful Dorset again! Property Owner

There was plenty of space and the games room was a big hit. The kitchen was well equipped with everything needed. A welcome pack including milk was very useful. The garden is large, private and totally enclosed which made it safe for children. We didn't have a dog with us but the garden would have been ideal I'm sure if we had. It was very warm during our stay but by keeping the large back patio doors open, the cooler air reached the upstairs. The owners are on hand but not intrusive. It was a most lovely week's stay.

  • "Fantastic property, it exceeded our expectations."

Had a wonderful time, very impressed. One issue was the shower drainage in the downstairs bedroom. The floor was awash every time, wouldn't drain away properly. This was clearly not a new problem as the door had black marks on the bottom and the laminate layers were coming away so obviously frequently wet. Also resulted in an unpleasant smell. The other feedback we would give having stayed in many holiday lets would be a welcome pack, with all information in one place. There were laminates and notes dotted around, but all gathered together, along with some useful information (eg local dr, nearby shops, pubs etc) would be a nicer touch.

Thank you for the feedback re the downstairs shower drainage. I can assure you that this has not been an ongoing issue, I will look into this now. There is a handbook in the hallway with all of the information that you mentioned in it. Property Owner

From the minute we arrived it felt like home. The beautiful flowers, cake, honey, juice & milk added to the welcoming feel. The way the home has been furnished and kitted out is amazing. All equipment is very high-end and carefully thought out. We cooked and ate in every night, and I can honestly say there was nothing we didn't have in the fully equipped kitchen. The beds were super comfy and the luxury of us all having an en-suite bathroom was a massive plus - no queuing for the bathroom in the morning! The weather was great and we explored many places including Cheddar Gorge, Lyme Regis, Durdle Door & Lulworth. Had a great day in Swanage and enjoyed the steam train ride to Corfe Castle. Coming back to relax in the hot-tub was the highlight of the day and a wonderful addition to this beautiful home and many a game was played on the pool table in the evenings. Had some great walks along the river and the walk across the field with the friendly cows to the Rose & Crown pub in Trent was great and comes highly recommended! Every detail was considered resulting in a wonderful weeks stay for five adults, one child and two dogs. We recommend a visit to Sherbourne town, Yeovil Country Park, Hams Hill and Haynes Motor Museum. The facilities at the property are great! The hot tub was used daily along with the pool table which isn’t shown in the photos. The games room is well equipped with books and board games. There’s also a BBQ - which isn’t shown. There are three friendly sheep in the paddock directly next to the house, this wasn’t an issue for us but maybe worth discussing with the owners pre booking if you have a reactive dog. There are two local walks but otherwise the roads and narrow and fast so a car is needed to get out and about, everything is close including supermarkets if needed. We stayed in the hottest week of the year. The two upstairs rooms were very hot but fans were provided. The owners Sarah and Rob are super friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble! We can’t fault our stay and would love to return, especially in the winter to take advantage of the the huge log burner!

The owners were great and helped us whenever needed. The weather was good, overcast but that did not stop us enjoying the garden and hot tub. Great attention to details, everything you think you would need, this place has and more. We well overpacked as everything we needed was already there. Bedrooms were very spacious and and the shower/bath/wet rooms were phenomenal. Would strongly recommend taking a walk to King Alfred's Tower if you like walking. Beautiful scenery, great walk and perfect for dogs too. We spent a few days in Weymouth too which was great too. There are shops a short drive away and the local farm shop was great.
