  • "We had a lovely stay in Poppa's Cottage."

A cosy cottage set in a beautiful village . A great base for exploring the jurassic coast.

  • "Perfect location for everything."

The beach is stunning, as is the surrounding countryside. Village has all we needed so did not use our car at all. We had a lovely relaxing time. Cottage is small as described but is well equipped.

  • "Just three ideas - an extension lead near the bed so can plug in a couple more devices; a wider duvet that stretches comfortably over two people and some thinner pillows."

These would make it nicer. One thing on cleanliness - as in most rentals, the cutlery and kitchen stuff was not properly clean. We had to wash everything before use, altho this is a common thing in holiday cottages.

Thank you for your helpful ideas. We will certainly look into these matters during out maintenance period in January. Property Owner

  • "Great location with Hive beach and cliff walks a few minutes away."

Cottage was well equipped with good shower and comfortable clean bedding and towels. Unfortunately we do feel that the mattress on the bed needs replacing. It offered little support but we are an older couple!

Thank you for your feedback which is very helpful. We will be purchasing a firmer mattress in the new year during our maintenance month. The mattress has now been replaced. Property Owner

  • "Poppas cottage is a delightful thatched cottage located in a beautifully picturesque village."

The cottage is clean and comfortable with everything you need for your stay.It is only a short walk to Hive beach and the cafe and we enjoyed a walk to West bay. We drove to lovely Lyme Regis, we walked along the harbour and Cobb and to Weymouth. We visited the market at Bridport. The only problem was that the holiday was over too soon.

Cottage was uncomfortable carpets dirty stains on paint work cobwebs everywhere generally not clean disappointed would not recommend

I am sorry that the cottage was not clean, this is a very unusual situation for Poppa's Cottage . Our housekeeper was away for this changeover and unfortunately the usual high standard was not maintained on this occasion. Property Owner

  • "Poppas cottage is an ideal location for a relaxing holiday for two people."

It has all the basic necessities you need and is within walking distance of a lovely beach.

  • "The cottage was fairly comfortable however it needs some TLC."

The windows need updating as the front room one has a broken catch and came open. It would also benefit from a deep clean. The bed was very comfortable and clean however. It was well placed within the village. We were disappointed to find that the two pubs in the village had been booked up for weeks ahead of our stay and walk in's for food wasn't always available, this meant we had to drive out to find food, something we didn't always want to do.

  • "The cottage was lovely exactly as described small but ideal for a couple to stay all very cosy and quaint."

The washing machine was ideal as was the dishwasher, shower had good pressure etc. We stayed in the very hot spell in July and an umbrella for shade outside would have been great. I noticed extra chairs in the outside storage but no umbrella. If we stay again we will bring one with us. Also a fan for The bedroom would have been nice in the best of The night. The milk and the selection of coffee egg on arrival was great as everything was shut after travelling from scotland. Well done Poppa's Cottage.

  • "Lovely cottage which was clean & comfortable."

Village was very pretty. Luckily plenty of walks starting from the village as parking on the lane was an issue. However it was probably not helped by being a Bank Holiday, half term also there is a pub on the corner & the post office/shop is a few doors away.

However the location of the cottage is ideal with a very cosy pub at the end of the lane. Dog walks up to the cliff. The nearby seaside boarding house has superb views and lovely fare and of course the hive beach cafe is a must visit. Had a wonderful time thank you

  • "The bedroom bathroom and kitchen were finished to the standard we expected but the living room was set out different to photos, the restless type chair had been replaced by an old settee that looked like it was from a second hand shop, very uncomfortable."

The other settee was in a different place therefore the small dinning table was squashed in,to near the door way. On arrival we had to sweep away an army of wood lice some dead from the kitchen and living room and many at the back door . We did notice a powder had been put down, on leaving there were more again and live ones in the inner porch. The patio area needed a good clean and tidy, the furniture one plastic wicker chair looked like it came from a tip and the little wooden table needed to go to the tip, the wooden bench was dirty. Out at the front there were weeds so all in all TLC is needed. For the same pricing we have had far superior accommodation.
