  • "The drains are a bit horrible."

The second shower room door had to be kept closed as there was a smell wafting into the hallway when there was a windy day. Thankfully I didnt have to use that shower room. I saw previous reviews about it on tripadvisor so know the owner already is aware and presumably something is happening about it. However, this is a beautiful flat, pristine, clean and tidy. Very homely with some lovely touches that made me feel settled as soon as I stepped through the door. Much bigger than it seems from the photos, very bright and I spent many a happy evening sitting with the window open watching the view from the balcony. Lovely and quiet, yet with a hotel restaurant on the doorstep, a lovely pub that does meals, and a bus service to get you into Weymouth. Very well equiped with everything I needed and wanted for my stay, parking space, instructions for tech kindly left where I could find them. Excellent. I made some lovely friends that I hope to stay in touch with, and I will certainly be back again.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. I am very sorry about the drain issue, which was due to a plumbing problem in a neighbouring apartment. I am very pleased that you felt at home straight away and that you enjoyed the beautiful view from the balcony down to Portland Bill. I look forward to welcoming you again soon. Property Owner

  • "Excellent flat, well equipped."

Couple of minor problems which are in hand to be fixed 1/. Television far to complicated to operate and need for full instructions.Suggest free view plus terrestrial only required. 2/. Hot water system appears to small as it runs cold very quickly 3/. Electric shower in main bathroom stopped heating water, advised owner was in process of renewing both showers but due to supply could not rectify during stay - unfortunate as en-suite very small and would not have been been adequate if 4 persons staying. Apart from the above which are being rectified stay was really enjoyable especially as weather was excellent. Views outstanding - would stay again

Many thanks for the feedback. I am sorry that one shower stopped working correctly during your stay, but I can confirm BOTH showers were upgraded the next week. I look forward to welcoming your family and friends on your next stay at Portland View. Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay, the apartment was clean and tidy and very spacious."

We weren’t aware the property was on an old military site close to industrial units. However the view made up for the units around it. We had a great stay.

I am very pleased to hear you had a great stay at my apartment and enjoyed the incredible views from the balcony. Property Owner

  • "A lovely apartment with lots of individual touches and a fabulous view."

Very well-appointed, and not just with the usual generic accoutrements, it really felt as though we were living in someone's home. We had a problem with the balcony door and it was fixed the following day. Highly recommended.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make such kind comments. I am very fortunate to have Portland View as my second home, and I am really pleased that you and your family felt at very much at home there. I look forward to welcoming you again. Property Owner

  • "The kitchen facilities and equipment were not very clean, found lots of areas or items that needed to be recleaned when we first arrived."

The bathrooms were the same especially the cabinets were still dirty and had hair in them. Considering we are still in a pandemic I expected it to exceed cleanliness and not much cleaning products or items were provided to help maintain this either unlike other places I've stayed during the last year, this property was the least rated for cleanliness. The kitchen was fully equipped which was great but we believe the cleaning standards could be better, and didn't have any reassurance that all items and areas are cleaned properly by owner or professional before our arrival and just what standard from the last visitors staying rather than a deep proper clean before anyone new arrives. No complaints for the lounge, bedroom or balcony areas. Beds were very comfortable. Very peaceful place to stay with wonderful sea view from the balcony area, enjoyed having meals out there for sunrise and sunset.

Thank you for your feedback. I am very sorry that you felt the cleaning standards in the kitchen were not up to expected standards for your stay. This feedback was immediately given to the regular Dream Cottages cleaner who was away that week and the area supervisor is keeping a close eye to ensure that the usual high standards are maintained. I am very pleased to hear that you had a relaxing stay and enjoyed the amazing sea views from the living room and balcony. Property Owner

  • "Couple of things broken / not working: 1."

Bathroom door handle 2. Washing machine wouldn't work 3. Could not get a TV signal

Thank you for your feedback. The en-suite bathroom latch had dropped and so was not closing properly - this has been rectified. There was a note on the washing machine to say sometimes the door does not close properly and reclosing it will allow it to work, unfortunately, the note had been removed, but has now been replaced. TV channels can be accessed via the internet and there is now a simplified guide to TV and surround sound in the welcome pack. Property Owner

  • "The instructions for the use of kitchen appliances were not easy to find and no quick guides were available."

We ended up searching the internet to try and find out how the hob worked (childlock on) There were no detailed instructions as to how to operate the TV Box or the TV - so we were unable to view any TV programs during nthe whole week. The shower units ran hot and cold for no foreseable reason. Despite reporting the problems with the TV and shower units to Dream Holidays no action was taken. The family bathroom door handle was hanging off. Kitchen cupboard doors were hanging off. There were no explanation as to how waste should be disposed of or where it should be deposited. There were no instructions as to what grade waste disposal bags should be used.

Thank you for your feedback. The manuals were in the kitchen drawer. Dream Cottages have no record of being contacted that week re shower or TV. No other issues reported re shower over past 7 weeks or since. TV can be accessed via internet and freesat on HDMI1. Wheelie bins for Recycling/General/Glass & Food are right next to the car park. • "Although the apartment was lovely , good views , well decorated with all facilities we required , the reason I marked it down was the lack of TV set up."

With prominent sports events that week , we looked forward to evenings in with TV. Had to call management team to address this. We did get a very good response and David came to set up BBC 1 and 2 on I player .No other channels available . Missed England game semi final as it was shown on ITV. Managed to get this eventually on smart phone , not the same ! Enjoyed Dorset. Thks to Sue, Christine and Lisa for prompt help .Also David for his patience with TV.

Thank you for the positive feedback on my apartment, the facilities and location. I am sorry you were not able to work the TV. A short user guide with pictures for the smart TV and surround sound has now been left in the welcome pack for guests. Property Owner

Portland Bill is a narrow promontory on the end of the rugged Isle of Portland peninsula which is joined to the mainland via Chesil Beach, a pebble spit, which stretches 18 miles towards West Bay. Situated on Dorset's spectacular Jurassic Coast, now a World Heritage Site, Portland Bill is home to three lighthouses, the most recent built in 1906 being the 35 meter tall, white and red striped Portland Bill Lighthouse. Portland Bill is home to a pub and a restaurant/café as well as the Portland Bird Observatory. Formerly a quarrying area, the stunning coastal scenery and footpaths provide excellent walking and the surrounding countryside is well known as a birdwatcher’s paradise! The local communities of Fortuneswell and Easton boast a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. With great climbing opportunities and an array of watersports activities on offer locally, plus the wonderful sandy beaches and the pretty harbour at Weymouth just 9 miles away, this super holiday destination is not to be missed!
