The property

Ilminster 3 miles.This is a superbly presented detached stone-built house; fully modernised; set in its own grounds; with fantastic views over local pasture and woodland on the edge of the village of Stocklinch. Beautifully furnished throughout, providing spacious contemporary accommodation over three floors, it is ideal for friends or families who want to spend time together in the glorious Somerset countryside. On the top floor is the master bedroom suite with super king-size bed, en-suite shower room and dressing room. The first floor has the other three bedrooms; two doubles and a twin bedded room, along with the bathroom, which has a cast iron claw foot bath and separate walk-in shower. Coming through the front door downstairs you enter into a light and spacious hall area, with a utility room and a WC. From the hall there is an impressive open-plan kitchen and dining area with a wood burning stove, a delightful feature of the house. You can access the covered decking and patio area, with its far-reaching views of the Blackdown Hills via a small vestibule to the side of the kitchen, where there is a comfortable sofa for you to sit on and take in views of the garden and beyond. On the other side of the kitchen is the luxurious open plan sitting room, with sofas, easy chairs, TV and open fire. This lovely house is accessed from the private driveway, with parking for three or more cars.

The other three sides of the house open out onto the covered decking, lawn and garden areas.

The garden is fully enclosed and safe for children and dogs.

Within walking distance is the village of Barrington, a conservation area with an award winning pub and National Trust Barrington Court with its glorious gardens.

Nearby Ilminster is probably the finest small market town in South Somerset.

With easy access from all major roads, it is the perfect base for a special weekend break or for a longer holiday off the regular tourist trail but still close to many major attractions.

Close by are the picturesque Blackdown Hills - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Montacute House, Barrington Court gardens and Ham Hill. This is also an ideal base to explore the towns of Ilminster, Yeovil, Taunton and Glastonbury, as well as the Somerset Levels, one of England’s most unchanged landscapes.

If you want to travel further afield you can visit the Jurassic coast, or the cities of Bath and Wells.

Dating back to the Doomsday Book, Stocklinch is a friendly, social and picturesque hamlet in rural Somerset. As well two Norman churches and a working farm, it has its very own micro-brewery (open Fridays and Sundays). From the upper village there are extensive views south across the valley of the river Isle and west towards the Blackdown Hills. The village is known for its excellent network of footpaths and bridleways – ideal for walking, cycling and enjoying the countryside.
