  • "Just perfect."

Our second visit and won’t be our last. The Retreat was very clean, comfortable and had everything we could need for a relaxing holiday in a beautiful part of Somerset. Jo, Richard and Lottie their dog were very welcoming and friendly and they obviously take great pride in their holiday accommodation. Thankyou

Owners, Jo and Richard, really welcoming and friendly and ready to help. Couldn’t be nicer. The Retreat was spotlessly clean and tidy, really well equipped, cosy and warm. Lovely comfortable bed too. Position of the property was lovely. Surrounded by fields and beautifully quiet. Lots of places to visit all around so plenty to do as well. Would highly recommend The Retreat as a fabulous base for a lovely holiday.

  • "We had a short stay for my birthday weekend celebrations."

The cottage was clean, cosy & comfy. It was a perfect 'Retreat' from visits to The Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, Wells Cathedral & Glastonbury Abbey. We ate out at Hunter's Lodge which was 5 minutes down the road and was very nice. The bed was so comfortable and helped us sleep well. Very impressed all round. Would highly recommend.

Jo & Richard were great hosts, very friendly & helpful. The cottage is well equiped & in a glorious setting, highly recommend!

The Retreat is situated in a very quiet area, but within a short drive to Wincanton. The hosts are not intrusive, but are very pleasant and readily available for advice/help. The Fleet Air Arm Museum, Haynes Motor Museum, National Trust Stourhead House and Gardens and Lytes Cary Manor are all within a reasonable drive away. We cooked in most days and the "Retreat" has a modern kitchen and is well equipped with cooking utensils. The views from the cottage are stunning and if you like walking in the countryside you won't find better. There are plenty of farm shops in the area with outstanding cuts of meat on offer. Oh, by the way, the neighbors are a splendid family who make you feel very welcome. An absolute country gem.
