  • "Stayed in this property for a weekend with friends and it is a lovely spaces property in the countryside with plenty of room for 11 guests."

The owner was also very polite and friendly, I would stay again and recommend for larger groups looking for a nice spacious place to stay.

Looked very welcoming as arrival Christmas lights at the windows and nice and warm as the weather wasn’t brilliant but it didn’t put us off we all had a great time and even the two Cockerpoos had fun.

  • "The property is a really lovely characterful building."

As people have mentioned in the past the floors do Creek and grown a lot. Everything in the property is fine and works well we all found the beds a little soft. The only thing is we found the kitchen reasonably well equipped awkward to use when we arrived all of the cutlery and plates had marks on them so we ended up washing everything up before we used any of it. The central heating was turned permanently in to the off position once I spoke to the owner he very kindly turn it on so that we could have a warm house in the mornings. It really is a lovely property and not necessarily in the best location for walking animals. It’s in a good location for sightseeing it’s very private and quiet.

  • "The owner was extremely helpful - immediately dealt with some minor problems in the house, helped by using his landline when there was no mobile connection, gave us info re a local taxi driver etc."

Always friendly and cheerful. We felt the photos didn't convey the reality. The garden is small, not the large lawn! The bedrooms are smaller than they looked in the photos. The wooden floorboards creak . . . the small bedroom also houses the water tanks - so noisy. The building is full of character, the kitchen well stocked for cooking. The situation is very peaceful, easy to walk out into the countryside. Horses are stabled there which adds interest. Plenty of lovely gardens to visit.

  • "What a beautiful house!"

We live in a 16 century cottage and this was like a home from home. The decor was lovely and the house just had a lovely feel to it. We stayed as a group of 10, 6 adults and 4 children. We enjoyed sitting round the kitchen table preparing food and chatting, long walks round the estate and beautiful woods and took a trip to Salisbury to see the panto. We truly had an amazing time and would definitely come back. Some previous reviews have mentioned the lighting, this wasnt an issue for us, there was also mention of not enough hot water but again, we all showered/ bathed and we never ran out. The little garden is also fenced in so good for letting the dog have a wondered without panicking. Really lovely helpful hosts. Thanks for having us

  • "We were 7 adults (friends on a reunion so all adults)."

Other reviews have mentioned the rather limited directions to the property. Agree that the lighting in the lounge and dining room whilst making for cosy and intimate was a bit too dark on occasions. The property has 4 bathrooms which is good but only two of them have showers (the other bathrooms have baths) and only one shower is electric with the result that one morning after 2 baths taken the non- electric shower ran cold. Would have liked an information folder with manuals and explaining about rubbish collection etc. And worryingly there was no information on recycling. There will almost certainly be lots of bottles and milk cartons to dispose of at holiday accommodation and this needs to be addressed.

  • "Just spent a family weekend break at Downs View Dairy and can highly recommend this cottage."

It is even more charming than the photos suggest and one of the best equipped holiday homes I have ever rented- even supplying tea towels, dishwasher tablets and toilet rolls!! The location is beautiful, lovely views of the countryside from every window. My only minor issue was instructions for finding the place were not very specific- I think we would have had problems without satnav. Overall we were very pleased with the accommodation and booking process

We have been coming for several years, and each time it seduces us with its mixture of old world charm and spacious accommodation. If a timeless building, surrounded by breathtaking countryside and gracious hosts, ticks your boxes as it does ours, then you will not be disappointed.Memories are priceless and we have a fabulous store of them.

Downs View Dairy upstairs bedroom facilities are well set up with bathroom each. We had downstairs bedroom with on-suite included a shower. There was also separate shower in downstairs toilet. Young children aged 1 and 3 enjoyed the farm and walks to local playgrounds. Older children age 8 and 11 enjoyed the local History. Good weather, garden set up for BBQ's. Would recommend

The accommodation was superb, really big and spacious and plenty of seating for our big group. Essentials like tea and coffee and hand soaps are provided which was really helpful. There were a few locks on bathroom doors which were difficult to use (ensuite upstairs) but this is easy to rectify.

Well equipped and spacious accommodation. Excellent location to reach a variety of attractions easily; Salisbury, Winchester, and the New forest all within easy reach. The owners are friendly and helpful; on arrival the owner made sure we had milk for a hot drink while we awaited our grocery delivery. The cottage is located on a farm with walks available; the owners provide details in the cottage. We had 4 pre-school grandchildren in our group and they loved the horses, chickens, sheep and cows.

Easy access to Salisbury, Romsey, New forest and Winchester. The cottage was very big with everything you would need for a relaxing holiday. Quiet location surrounded by beautiful Hampshire countryside but good local shop within walking distance and local pubs both good. Will definitely return.

  • "The welcome by the owner was warm and natural."

There were nine of us but the accommodation is so extensive that we all had corners to disappear into on a wet Saturday, mostly spread out on the sofas. The farm style kitchen was the hub for the families, warm and cosy as with the rest of the accommodation. Fresh eggs are accessible for breakfast from the farm. There is a green lane adjacent which leads to a little used tarmac lane which takes you to the village shop and the Black Horse pub with a choice of footpaths to return on. We all went to Mottisfont Abbey, National Trust, and Salisbury, both half an hour at most. Could have gone to Winchester but we pottered around Stockbridge which is a delight. So, a great base, deep rural, starry nights and bird song filled days but with easy access to all amenities. This was our fifth time but not our last.

  • "We were a party of 6 Ladies on a walking weekend and the cottage met all of our needs."

It has a rustic charm, and is rather quirky and old fashioned which was fun and it is a lovely setting in a farm with all the farm buildings around it. We enjoyed the fact that it has a lovely history, being the old dairy. The house is not at all modern or elegant but It is very roomy downstairs with a good size kitchen to gather in and the bedrooms and bathrooms are of a good size. It is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. The garden is perfect for an early morning cuppa and an evening glass of wine with plenty of seating. The owners were very polite and attentive and answered all our queries promptly. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and we completed half of the Clarendon way from Salisbury to Broughton, which I would highly recommend. The house is near to Mottisfont house which is a must visit National trust property. A great stay!!

  • "The cottage was ok - the description was accurate in terms of the basic facilities - numbers of rooms etc."

The owners had gone to a lot of trouble to put lots of flowers / hanging baskets outside (watered daily) which looked lovely. However, everything inside was just a little more basic than I would have liked / expected in a rental costing me more than £1500 per week - I don't think it would take a lot of investment to improve the experience substantially - a few examples: - the kitchen is equipped with a collection of cast-offs (yet has a (presumably expensive) range cooker). There are only stainless steel pans - no non-stick ones. There are whisk fittings for an electric whisk, but no electric whisk, etc - the beds are ok but could be a good deal more comfortable, the bed linen / towels are ok, but you would not call them luxurious - the lighting throughout the property is provided by a somewhat confusing mix of table lamps and spotlights with light switches hidden in odd places The wifi/broadband is patchy (although that's probably BT's fault rather than the owners') We gained some amusement by trying to work out what angle had been used to take the photo of the property - to create the impression of a spacious lawn and a property standing on its own (in reality the dairy is part of a collection of old farm buildings with a smallish (pleasant) patch of grass / patio in front) We still enjoyed our holiday, but I would not regard it as "value for money" - I think the price is set at a premium level that the equipment of the house does not match up to.
