  • "Extremely comfortable house in a quiet location."

Every need cantered for , for humans and dogs. So much thought and effort put into the house, very pleased. Owners do their own maintenance and cleaning, and it shows. Quite possibly the best house we’ve stayed in!

All too often you find yourself without a kitchen utensil, or some other item, but not at this property. It was spacious and set in a beautiful location. We had the perfect family holiday with our dog. The enclosed garden was fantastic for the children and the dog.

  • "Our holiday included two dogs and Tanzey Hollow catered so well for us all!"

The owners are dog owners too and want to make all that visitors welcome, and yes the dogs too. Dog beds were available and covers for them, doggie treats, and the odd toy. Even leads just in case. The adults were catered for too, a nice bottle of wine and I think free range eggs. Tanzey Hollow was for us bigger and more spacious than expected and would cope easily for 5/6 guests. The only normal sized room was the bathroom, but it doesn't mean it was small, it's family sized. The downstairs WC is always a nice to have. Reading the welcome pack gave us walks from the front door, with picture guides too. Something else to note is there is a new driveway to park on which isn't detailed in the description. I have a Focus and I had plenty of room. These people care about your experience, and I felt that they would try to accommodate us if I had a special request, so reassuring. Thank you.

Had everything you could possibly need. Clean. The only thing I could suggest as an improvement would be the oven, it is incredibly slow to cook anything as temperature does not get hot enough, took over 3 hours to cook a whole chicken. We had a lovely time though.

  • "We have done cottage holidays for nearly 20 years; always with dogs."

We have nearly always been satisfied with the accommodation but Tanzey Hollow exceeded our expectations; for some reason, people believe that people who wish to bring dogs on holiday must somehow be satisfied with less than luxurious accommodation i.e. a shed is good enough...…….. Tanzey Hollow catered for the dogs with their own 'welcome pack'; there were beds, treats and toys provided. The house itself was roomy, immaculately clean, supremely comfortable and welcoming. It is only a few miles out of Weymouth so perfectly sited for whichever way you venture.

The owners are friendly and helpful should you need to contact them, and they leave a welcome pack of wine and other goodies including treats for your furry friends, we have enjoyed two visits to this house and have booked up again for next year enough said.

Off road parking for 2 cars a bonus. Double bed in grey bedroom uncomfortable so 2 adults ended up sleeping on small double bed in the smallest room, not ideal. Kitchen fully equipped and supplies of washing powder, dishwasher tablets were a bonus too.

  • "We do have a few niggly gripes about the property: 1."

The bed in the main bedroom next to the bathroom is very low for the elderly (like us) or disabled - the top of the mattress is only about 30cm high so it could do with some leg raisers to make it more accessible. We found getting in or out was very awkward, rather like using a camp bed. 2. The mattress in the bed in the second bedroom didn't have good interior springing as we could easily feel lumpy springs when we brushed a hand across the top. My wife found this too uncomfortable as she is only a lightweight and doesn't have the weight to press the springs down as I do. 3. The shower over the bath is fitted with a very large (and heavy) head as has become fashionable, but the extra weight means it doesn't sit reliably on it's fitting while you shower so you have to hold it in your hand throughout to avoid it suddenly falling off and surprising you at some point during your wash. In all other respects we enjoyed the facilities and had a good holiday.

  • "We were a party of two and found Tanzey Hollow gave us the best of both worlds; it's close to amenities with lovely countryside and the beach within walking distance plus it's reasonable driving distance to the larger towns."

My husband is a keen walker so it was a great base for that. The house itself is a great size (cupboards everywhere!), the kitchen/diner was a good size and it's always good to see a property that can seat as many people as it can sleep - that might sound strange but not all properties offer that. The garden was lovely, very private, a great size and with some beautful plants. The house had pretty much everything we needed; a coffee maker would have been great for us but we knew beforehand it didn't have one so took our own. The two double bedrooms are both an excellent size. We slept in the 'smaller' of the two as we preferred the height of the bed - we would have preferred all cotton bedding but that's our personal preference. I understand the comment made about parking; we didn't have too many issues as we have a hatchback. Thank you Jacqueline (and husband) for your help with the boiler and also to Liz for getting the house ready for our arrival. Extra points for the self check-in - such a simple idea that is effective and convenient for the guests and owners! We really enjoyed having a home from home for a week and I couldn't help but imagine how our own furniture/soft furnishings would look there! All in all Tanzey Hollow was a great find for us and we would definitely stay there again.

  • "Tanzey Hollow parking on site is impossible unless you have a small car."

With cars parked opposite, the turn Into a very down sloping uneven drive is too tight. We always had to park way down the narrow road. Once inside the house it was lovely. The small bedroom had a pull out bed and once made up you couldn't close the door. It's only a mile from Weymouth as the crow flies, by road it's longer. All else said it was a good place to stay as long as you keep these things in mind.

Bedrooms and beds very comfy as was the sitting room. Full marks to the owners.

  • "The house felt very homely and comfortable."

Everything we or even our dog could want was provided. The lounge suite was especially comfortable and was not the usual sagging leather furniture one tends to find in holiday lets that allow pets. The property had a lovely secluded enclosed back garden that was a real sun trap. There are lots of ways to walk from the door to the sea, Coast Path and Inland Coast Path. We have already booked to return again later this year.
