  • "Excellent bungalow in a beautiful location."

Lou and Alex had gone he extra mile to provide everything you need for a holiday. Great breakfast welcome pack too. Lots of attractions in easy reach - Durdle Door, Monkey World, New Forest, Bourmemouth, Corfe Castle, and good pubs if you want to eat out.

  • "Owners were very welcoming, helpful and friendly without being intrusive."

Perfect base to explore the Dorset coast and inland, or just chill out at the home. Lovely rural setting, great for stargazing on a clear night due to lack of light pollution. We didn't use the BBQ or pizza oven but only because we were so busy visiting the local attractions. A really chilled out stay.

The location was perfect for exploring all corners of Dorset. The view over the Dorset hills from the cottage was beautiful. Lou and Alex made us feel very much at home and the welcome breakfast pack was great - we also had fun using the pizza oven (once it had stopped raining,,,)

Having the owner next door was not intrusive at all, and was very handy to buy an extra bag of logs. The breakfast package of local bacon and sausage was much appreciated too.

  • "Booking was easy and communication with the cottage owner."

Was helpful both before and during our stay. The accommodation is in a rural area with fantastic views, very peaceful with sitting areas at the front and the back of the cottage, yet within easy reach of any places of interest. A warm welcome from the host with generous extras in the fridge. Property was thoughtfully well equipped, the kitchen especially and was a perfect home from home. We loved the BBQ and pizza oven. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and comfortable including all the beds. All safety measures for COVID were in place and we felt very safe. Highly recommended.

About the location

Thornicombe 2.7 miles; Child Okeford 6.5 miles; Moors Valley Country Park & Forest 17.9 miles.

Blandford Forum is a market town in Dorset, England, situated by the River Stour. Notable for its Georgian architecture, most of the town was rebuilt in the 18th century after it was destroyed by a fire in 1731. King George II made a donation to rebuild the town centre with designs from local architects John and William Bastard. The Blandford Georgian Fayre is an annual event held in the first week of May and celebrates its Georgian heritage, with presentations, historical re-enactments and music and dancing. One of the town’s biggest events takes place on the late Bank Holiday weekend, the Great Dorset Steam Fair. A largely colourful festival with over 2,000 exhibits and an old time steam funfair. Offering a wide selection of independent store, supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, cafés and a Georgian tearoom. So much to visit within this quaint town and makes for a wonderful tourist attraction, whatever the season.
