The property

A character cottage in the village of Toller Porcorum, not far from the towns of Bridport and Dorchester in West Dorset.

With some lovely character features and set in an ideal location, The Old School Cottage makes a great base for a romantic break away to explore some of the best areas of West Dorset.

The cottage has an open plan sitting and dining area and a well equipped kitchen.

The sitting and dining area has comfy chairs, sofa with a dining table and chairs.

A great place to relax after a full day out and about exploring the area.

There are 2 bedrooms, one double and one twin with the added bonus that each has its’ own en-suite shower room.

To the outside, there is bench overlooking the beautiful and peaceful countryside and at the rear is a shared garden where you can enjoy your meals under the apple tree.

There are plenty of walking opportunities from the door which link to the Wessex Way, Jubilee Trail and dozens of other routes as well as mountain biking and cycling trails to enjoy.

The village is home to a Post Office with a small shop.

Take a visit to one of the nature reserves within the village. Kingcombe Meadows Nature Reserve has a vast selection of animals and birds as well as a huge variety of wild plants and insects to enjoy. Abbotsbury Swannery is well worth a visit where you can feed the swans, ducks and many other wild birds.

Take a visit to the Jurassic Coast at West Bay, which is the coastal setting for the popular programmes of Broadchurch, and Harbour Lights whilst the picturesque resort of Lyme Regis is within easy access.

Within about half an hour, takes you to the resort of Weymouth with its glorious beaches and picturesque harbour.

Bridport is home to an interesting variety of shops restaurants and inns or take a trip to the market town of Dorchester with its Roman roads, museums and a wide selection of pubs and restaurants.

The Old School Cottage is ideally situated to explore the area and come back in the evening to the peace and quiet and soak up the views of the beautiful countryside.

Toller Porcorum is a village in West Dorset, situated in the Toller Valley, just over 10 miles north-west of Dorchester, and 8 miles north-east of Bridport, nestling in the valley of the River Hooke. Toller Porcorum is also situated within the West Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and is almost entirely agricultural. Within the village there is a Post Office with a small shop. The nearest pub is about 2.5 miles away at Maiden Newton, where other essential services can be found. There are two important nature reserves within the village boundaries, both belonging to the Dorset Wildlife Trust, Powerstock Common and Kingcombe Meadows with a vast selection of animals and birds as well as a huge variety of wild plants and insects. Bridport is home to an interesting variety of shops, restaurants and inns. Two miles south of Bridport is the dramatic Jurassic coast at West Bay, now a World Heritage Site, home to the backdrop for TV's Harbour Lights and the coastal setting for popular Broadchurch, whilst the picturesque resort of Lyme Regis is within 10 miles.
