"Comfortable homely property, with secure garden which is ideal for our two small dogs."
We love the quiet countryside surroundings and have visited this property on many occasions in the past. The addition of milk in the fridge. biscuits, tea, etc. is most welcome too. All in all this will be a regular holiday venue for us.
"Beautiful location , kitchen needs updating , couldn’t see the knobs ..."
Beautiful location , kitchen needs updating , couldn’t see the knobs indicating rings Shower pressure poor and attachment over bath not working But such a stunning location will be back
"2nd visit to Stonewind."
Cottage very clean and welcoming, situated in a very quiet and peaceful area.Convenient for the west of the Isle but near ebough to visit all other parts as well. Many good pubs and restaurants if you want to eat out.
"Comfortable traditional homely cottage, with a secure garden for our two small dogs."
A lovely rural quiet location, down a short farm track. A welcome by the owner Pat, who was on hand if there were any problems (which there were not). We also much appreciated the welcome pack including tea and milk! A short drive to Totland for newspapers, and shops nearby. We enjoyed our second visit to the property and would not hesitate to book again.
"Lovely cottage within the beautiful farm and surrounding countryside."
Good facilities in cottage and welcoming owner. Lovely walks from cottage or short drive away to beaches - Freshwater Bay, Compton Bay, Totland Bay, The Needles and other beautiful National Trust sites. Had a fab week with the family! Thank you - we will visit again!
"A lovely cottage, comfortable and cozy."
A well equipped kitchen, very clean and tidy. A homely, relaxing atmosphere. I would happily return in the future.
"We really enjoyed our stay, the location is perfect, the house was lovely."
The welcome pack was nice to have. The house and kitchen was well equipped. The garden was nice and secure for the dogs who enjoyed it. Some great walks nearby. Would love to stay again in the future.
"This was our second stay at this cottage and a warm welcome again from Mrs Pat Hayles."
The cottage was clean and tidy, very well equipped for a holiday cottage. We are only a couple with one small dog, but the cottage is very suitably equipped for families with children and dogs. Contrary to another reviewer stating that the garden is not secure, it IS secure, and our dog loved it. The cottage is surrounded by fields with sheep in them at times and rabbits also, so any unsupervised dog would be tempted to find a way to escape. There are plenty of footpaths around for walkers and it is very peaceful and quiet here with no passing traffic as access to the cottage is via a bridle track. We have booked to return in 2023.
"As a former holiday home rental owner I know the standards holiday-makers expect, and this does not live up to even basic standards."
Primarily the cottage needs a DEEP CLEAN, paying attention to skirting boards in ALL rooms, behind furniture, and behind the toilet which looks as though it has never been cleaned. Plastic shower tray and shower curtain are way past their best and should be updated. The king size mattress is too hard for comfort and the duvet grubby and needs replacing. The sofa & chairs all grubby dralon, not covers as in your photos, and carpet could do with shampooing. All windows dirty. Garden overgrown restricting light into the cottage, and omitting any sunshine. Garden proved to be NOT SECURE and dog escaped.
"Our dogs rate this cottage as one of the best they have ever been to."
They loved the secure garden . We enjoyed our holiday too. The cottage was clean ,comfortable and peaceful. Well places for exploring the west of the island. The steps to the double bedroom are steep and would benefit from a hand rail for older guests. The shower is a little snug for big people. However the bed is very comfortable and the sitting room is cosy and comfortable. We would love to return here it is a little gem .
"Stonewind is a very comfortable clean cottage."
We had a fantastic 2 week holiday here. Pat the owner is lovely and the welcome pack is very appreciated after a long journey. We will definitely be booking to come back!
"We had an absolutely wonderful week at Stone Wind Farm with our 2 dogs."
The cottage had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. We were blessed with the weather and so spent most of our time in the garden, so the chairs, picnic table and BBQ were much appreciated. Brilliant communication from Pat and we definitely hope to visit again. Only downside is that we hadn't booked 2 weeks !!
"A really lovely cottage, much bigger than we thought and with every possible amenity you could think of."
I’m not sure the exterior pictures on the website fully do it justice, would be good to get some more on a sunnier day perhaps? But we had a wonderful time and the cottage owners were lovely to us as well.
"Well presented cottage, very quiet and comfortable."
Excellent hot water at all times. Tricky exit on to main road but this is quiet.Good for West and Central .Wight
"We loved the cottage, quiet and peaceful surroundings even though it is on a working farm, the owners Pat and Ray are really nice."
The garden of the cottage is as stated, large and secure our little Jack Russel loved exploring it and we knew she was safe. Thank you for a lovely stay.
"Really homely,nice size rooms."
"We all had a lovely time and it was what we was looking for our young person thankyou again"
"Very pleasant property in a perfect location ."
The kitchen was really well equipped and the beds very comfortable. Perfect amount of room for 2 adults, a teenager, and a ten year old as well as 2 medium sized dogs. We all appreciated the secure ,well fenced garden.
"This is a very old cottage but very roomy, well equipped and comfortable, in a very beautiful part of the Isle of Wight, just over one mile from The Needles."
We are just a pensioner couple with two small dogs but the cottage can easily accommodate a family with children and baby. The photos do not give full justice, the cottage is very roomy with a decent size secure garden for children and dogs. Outside the main cottage entrance there is a large outdoor garden table with adequate seating around to accommodate a family. There is also a picnic bench with umbrella, outdoor lights, adjacent to a built in BBQ. It is very dark here at nights but there are security lights at garden gate entrance that illuminate the car parking area and large part of the garden by the gate (very useful for those arriving back in the dark). The cottage is very well equipped including a washing machine for those who need to use one. There is a small tumble drier also in an outhouse that also had necessary equipment to use the BBQ, The owners have thought of everything to ensure guests have a nice holiday. For those who cannot live without phones, tablets and laptops there is a very respectable WiFi reception. Be aware that there are three steps up to the main bedroom, BUT that reflects the true age of the property and it’s history. The cottage is surrounded by fields with sheep in the adjacent field at time of writing this review. There are plenty of footpaths here for walkers, Alum Bay and Freshwater Bay are short walks away. Being a short distance off a main road it is very quiet and peaceful with no vehicle traffic passing the cottage (just a few walkers). We arrived in October in heavy wind and rain but the cottage has very efficient central heating and we dried off quickly. The owners live in the adjacent property further along the track and Pat checked in on us after arrival us to ensure that all was ok and again on our leaving. We have booked to come back in 2022 but for longer.
"The cottage is far more spacious than it looks in the photos and was a perfect base for exploring the island with our family and two dogs."
The garden is pretty and a lovely place to relax after days out and to BBQ. The owner greeted us with a warm welcome and left tea, milk and biscuits for our arrival. The surrounding hills make it a peaceful and pretty location, with no light pollution it is great place to view the night sky too! Would definitely like to return and we did not want to leave after our lovely holiday.
"The cottage is very quietly and nicely located."
It is great for walking, cycling as you are not far from the needles and freshwater bay. The cottage is nice and next to field with sheep, which the kids very much liked. Owner Pat is very friendly and helpful. All in all I would recommend booking this cottage.
"Lack of Wi-Fi was the only fault with the cottage"
Thank you for leaving feedback for Stonewind Farm, just to update we are currently in the final stages of having WIFI installed, once this has been completed we will add this to the listing. Property Owner
"The owners of the property were very friendly and excellent in corresponding with us."
They also very kindly left us a box of essentials for when we arrived (albeit the milk had gone off), but the wine, tea, biscuits etc were lovely. The property is located perfectly for people with pets that may bark, or children that shout and scream, as no-one is close enough to be disturbed by any noise, and with the securely enclosed garden, again this was perfect. My poor smiley face reviews were due to the following: Lacking wifi (we knew this when we booked, but nowadays should really be a standard. The double bed had an extremely uncomfortable cheap, hard mattress, that I think had definitely seen a lot of years use. The decor in the lounge really needs updating, it is very tired from around 1980. Items such as the blinds in the bathroom were rotting and very dirty. All that said this was reasonably priced cottage, for what you got. But it could be amazing with a few changes like putting in a log burner for instance. If all you are looking for is a place to sleep, at a good price, and not worried about your surroundings this will suffice.
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Stonewind Farm, we really do appreciate receiving feedback. Since your stay we have purchased a new double mattress, we have replaced the blinds in the bathroom and are currently in the final stages of having WIFI installed. It would be lovely to have you stay at Stonewind farm in the future. Property Owner
"Yes would recommend"
"The cottage is pretty and in a quiet rural spot."
It has a lovely garden. We had a problem getting in, but the owners were very helpful. Only complaint is that there was one toilet roll for the two days which was not enough for 5 people.
"Stonewind Farm is a lovely peaceful location."
It is more spacious, inside and out, than the photos suggest. It is in a beautiful part of the island with endless things to do and beaches to visit. We had a wonderful holiday with our four young children.
"This was our second stay at Stonewind Farm and we hope to go again."
It is so conveniently placed to explore West Wight.
"The house did what it said in the tin and did the job."
The host was accommodating and the wine and biccy’s were a lovely surprise.
"Lovely location with lots of nature (even bats) and comfortable cottage; so easy to get to Freshwater and Totland."
The garden was great for our dog, who really enjoyed his time here, and there were lots of very pleasant walks nearby. The kitchen was well-equipped - but having been self-catering with Helpful Holidays (now part of Sykes) for over twenty years we know what to expect. Pat, who was a very friendly owner, kindly provided beautiful flowers in a vase and tea and cookies. I think the only thing that confused us was the listing suggestion for six adults which would have been a squeeze. As it happened, four of us plus dog managed fine and the teenagers will miss the very comfy reclining armchairs and our bedrooms were also cool and comfortable - even in the hot weather.
"Pat was a brilliant host."
She explained everything when we reached there. Her cottage was so homely. We had everything we wanted in the cottage. Very clean and situated in a very quiet area. We had a unforgettable holiday with my parents. Thank you Pat. I have no hesitation to recommend this cottage who need very peaceful holiday in s beautiful cottage.
"Professional and friendly welcome from Pat."
Perfect for families with young children and grandparents alike. It is safe and quiet. The lounge area could do with a bit of an update and the bbq is old and rusty but the cottage is comfortable and warm on a chilly evening. The kitchen is bright, spacious and has everything you need......loved it! The children absolutely loved the cottage and wanted to stay longer! (The swing in the garden has been removed.)
"This was an ideal location for the sort of relaxing break which we needed and got."
It was lovely to just sit outside on a lounger with a cup of tea, a good book, some sun and listening to birds. There were plenty of coastal walks for enthusiasts and pubs/cafes to chill at for a break. Welcome package from Mrs Hayles was greatly appreciated Lovely, lovely, lovely break.
"We had a lovely holiday at Stonewind farm & would return."
Pat & her husband were very welcoming.
"Pat and Ray are really lovely hosts, and the cottage is in the most beautiful ..."
Pat and Ray are really lovely hosts, and the cottage is in the most beautiful tranquil surroundings This was our 4 visit there See you in September
"Pat made us feel very welcome, and the milk, tea, wine and biscuits were a lovely touch."
The location is wonderfully peaceful, but still close enough to all the local amenities, and many of the local cafes and restaurants are dog-friendly. If you have dogs, just note that the garden does have a few big gaps in the hedge, so escape artists may need to stay on a lead. ;-) For a dog-friendly holiday though, it's ideal. I'll be back.
"This is our third time staying at Stonewind Farm, love the tranquil setting with just sheep for neighbours."
Garden is very dog friendly, and the owners Pat and Ray are very helpful. Cottage is very cosy, already booked again for next May....
"Of all the holidays weve booked with you this was the best regarding location ,dog walking, dog friendly beaches."
"The cottage and location were excellent."
We had a wonderful time and are happy to give this our full recommendation
"Very beautiful location and a very nice contact with the owner."
I would realy like to come again someday.
