  • "Cleanliness pretty good, but couldn’t help notice skirting boards needed a wipe over, this point is a minor detail!"

Comfort… Have to say the settee in the lounge wasn’t at all comfortable! If the weather had been good every day we probably wouldn’t have used this to much, but, having a couple of days of rain the settee became uncomfortable! It may be as both my wife and myself are in our mid 70s younger people might not have noticed the discomfort!.To be fair the flat on whole was well presented! We really enjoyed the week!

  • "Hi, firstly I would like to say we had a lovely stay at Harbour Scene."

Good size apartment & great location. However, I was very dissapointed with how we found the balcony on arrival. Looking at pictures I was looking forward to utilising balcony but it was very dirty, flooded & even had a dead bird in it. This is something, especially with young children, should be looked at to ensure it doesn't happen again. Couple of other things to note, although I do appreciate this is probably out of your control, te hot water although we had a booster there was not enough for a family of 4 to shower. The Internet connection was very intimitant & sometimes didn't work at all.

  • "The flat was not as clean as other places we’ve stayed in with Sykes Cottages."

The plate rack was exceptionally dusty, I didn’t keep the dinner plates there during our stay. The impression given was that the flat was only given a minimum clean. This is the first review we’ve given because we feel whoever cleans the flat needs to be more thorough. Most of the surfaces were dusty. Situation of the flat is excellent.

Lovely comfortable bed in main bedroom but a more comfortable sofa would have been nice. I found the use of everything in the apartment adequate. We would like to visit West Bay again but no way would i return to Harbour Scene as the noise of constant traffic mainly motorbikes was constant .It was hot all week but could not have the windows open because of the noise. We came home early because of it and it spoiled our holiday.

  • "On arrival wifi not working."

Phone call to Dream Cottages yielded sensible advice, but didn't work, but next morning ( Sunday !) service man came out & sorted it. Minor points - no airer & somebody had damaged the control on the hall storage heater. These are not complaints, just for information. We were very pleased with the apartment & will definitely come again. Jean & Geoff

  • "Brilliant location for our holiday stay."

Flat could have been a bit cleaner but the beds were clean and comfortable. Black out curtains/blind for the twin bedroom and hall window would be good as the curtains are really thin so it was light very early! . Handy to have a parking space but only if you have a small car ( although we did just manage to squeeze our Volvo estate in the garage!) Loved having a balcony to sit and look out at the harbour. We would definitely like to stay again

Having a second floor private lounge balcony looking towards to harbour and the sunsets over the nearby hills is good as is the detached private garage which comes with the flat.

  • "We generally had a good stay at Harbour Scene and the flat is in a fantastic location, especially for the beach."

There were a couple of things we'd suggest to improve the overall experience. Firstly, the cleanliness of the kitchen wasn't to a high standard, we had to wash all dishes again before their use and the cupboards and appliances were sticky to touch. It just made it feel a little dirty and uncomfortable. The second thing is the linen, we stayed for a week and there was only one set of towels and bath mat with no facility in the flat to wash them. I'd suggest that you provide an extra set of towels or put a basic washing machine in the kitchen for the use of guests. The other thing, which is more minor is that the smaller bedroom's curtains let in a lot of light so my children were woken up very early. Overall though, it was a nice stay which could have been even better with a couple of tweaks. Thank you for having us.

The location of the apartment was perfect and we all loved it. The only reason I scored facilities down a bit was the cold box in the fridge was broken and we could have done with it. Otherwise all good. Thank you! Sorry for delay posting review - where does time go?

The flat had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The garage however is not big enough for most everyday cars and therefore parking is priced at £8 a day, there are plenty of spaces. Excellent restaurants, cafes and pubs in very close proximity. We really enjoyed Seagulls ( it’s a restaurant) for dinner and the crab sandwiches for lunch from Sammie B’s!

Had a little glitch with the WiFi but was sorted within 15mins of my call, all very impressive. Shops and local amenities all within walking distance and local folks very friendly. A great base to go exploring the jurrasic coast from, easy to get to and garage parking a real bonus. Would recommend to any family and will definately use the site for future bookings.

  • "On arrival we were surprised that no one had noticed the amount of water leaking from the mixer tap joints in the bathroom."

Uncertainty as to whether this would become worse if the taps were used meant we were not able to shower or bath until it had been fixed. Although the flat was as bright and colourful as its description, little things like the freezer section of the fridge being in great need of defrosting and a thick layer of dust in the bathroom let it down. Time spent ages on the mobile trying to get problems resolved was frustrating.

  • "The flat was great,it was much larger than expected."

It was clean, well equipped and in a nicely maintained building. All the information we were given was accurate and helpful (directions etc). The garage is a tight fit but did fit our fiesta (anything bigger will struggle). The neighbours and owners of the flat that we met were all friendly which was nice. The flat itself - the little extras left for us (tea, biscuits etc) was a nice touch. The balcony and it's view were great it was handy for weather watching! As other reviews have mentioned if seems strange to have a dishwasher over a washing machine but there is a launderette within walking distance if you are that bothered. It would be useful to have a mirror and some drawers in the twin bedroom. All in all its a great flat, convenient for everything and I would definitely stay here again.

  • "Wonderful large apartment in the centre of West Bay overlooking the harbour and the wonderful coastal countryside beyond."

This 1970's style apartment is very well equipped with everything (and more) that we needed. It was a pleasure to have very large patio doors onto the balcony, which gets the afternoon sun, and being on the top (second) floor it afforded complete privacy. We must comment on the king-sized bed in the master bedroom it was one of the most comfortable we have slept in the many cottages/apartments we have stayed in.

  • "The apartment was larger than expected and had all the essentials required."

We did not expect to find washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, bin liners or cleaning cloths so this was nice. The kitchen was well stocked of pots and pans and all essential cooking equipment. We were able to cook our meals in the apartment without any issues. The beds were very comfortable and both bedrooms very spacious. I do not usually sleep well for a couple of days when being somewhere different but I slept well every night so a big bonus for me. There was a hoover, iron and ironing board, clothes airer and cleaning equipment - we did not use them all but good to know they are available if required. We did use some of the cleaning equipment to clean the patio doors to the balcony so we could see the beautiful view from them - although this could be an endless tasks if there is lots of wind and rain which is why the doors and windows were not clear. The shower was dripping when we arrived but we were told this will be sorted by the plumber which it was and the shower was replaced which was much better and the water pressure was good, however, we did run out of hot water when all 4 of us showered and 3 washed their (long) hair which was more time consuming and therefore not enough hot water for all. I appreciated the little sewing box in the drawer as I needed to use this which meant I was able to wear the item of clothing again. We also played some of the board games that were in the drawers although we had brought some of our own in case of rainy days - which we only had 2. We enjoyed looking around the area, including all the shops and did plenty of walking. The beach was also great for the kids and their fossil hunting and my husband did some fishing off the beach whilst I managed some sunbathing for a few hours (until the cloud came over). Having the garage to park the car was great and it also kept it dry from the couple of windy wet days we had. We have a large car but was able to fit it in the garage although everyone got out before parking it as there was not much room to the side even when parked right over to one side. We visited Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and Monkey World (this one is a favourite of ours and we try and go once yearly). Weymouth was lovely but we did not manage to visit Portland which was recommended to us.
