  • "I loved The Roddy House, everything we needed for our self catering stay, very safe enclosed garden for our dog."

Amazing location with a lovely short walk right onto West Bay beach with other beaches not to far away to drive to either. Would definitely stay here again.

  • "A lovely cottage with all mod cons and very clean inside."

We really enjoyed our stay and think we will re-book for a Winter break. Very short walk to West Bay harbour and reasonable walk to Bridport with its nice pubs, shops and take-aways. Cottage situated in a quiet safe area.

  • "This could be an amazing place."

The location is superb and the house could be great. However it wasnt clean. Needs a full deep clean dust everywhere the microwave was disgusting. Burnt and clearly hadnt been cleaned. The bed was broken and had to be propped up with books which the agent did. If you want us to put waste in bin bags then provide them.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. The owner has investigated all your points raised and addressed where necessary. As this is self catering accommodation only a starter bin liner is provided. We look forward to welcoming you back to Dorset again soon. Property Owner

  • "This is our second time back at the Roddy house."

first time a few years ago we did enjoy it. this time however was different. The cupboards etc were sticky so had to clen them down. The Beds are awful one slumps into the middle. The other slumps & creaks each time you move. lead to bad back & neck. Whilst we was there we had a power cut then something in the house was tripping the electrics... no ideal when your in the shower. Apart from that ok, great location.

  • "This house is a home away from home for us, we have been here numerous times and only once had an issue that was easily rectified."

Easy access to both West Bay and Bridport both of which are very dog friendly. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone and I'm sure we will be back again next year.

Furniture was a little dated but disn't detract from the enjoyment. We did have trouuble getting the 2 gas burners on the right of the hob to work but again didn't cause us any issues

  • "The house is warm and very well situated for walks to the beach with our dog."

There were one or two issues in that the extractor over the cooker is very greasy and the cushions in the conservatory had muddy marks on them. Also the recycling hadnt been put out so the general waste bin was very full, ditto the food box which was overflowing. not so much the fault of the owner but the holiday makers I suspect. We found the dog gate at the bottom of the stairs very difficult to navigate when carrying anything up or down, however, we are elderly and not as sprightly as we were. We had a good week and the above are just observations which can be easily rectified and not major gripes.

  • "The Roddy House has become a home from home."

We’ve stayed there 3 times in the last year and love the place. The location is perfect for walk into West Bay or Bridport. The property is perfect for us, with a relaxing afternoon in the conservatory after a heavy lunch and a cosy evening in the front room after dog walks and dinner. It’s well equipped, homely and a great base for exploring the Dorset area. Only niggle is I think the letting agent could do a little more for their money but I don’t no where the line is drawn. No toilet roll in the GF WC, welcome / information folder missing ( found it eventually) and a couple of other minor irritations but all in all a fab time again Hope to return soon.

  • "The only complaint we had is that the property details said there was a king size bed - there was but it had a double mattress on it."

We would have preferred a king size mattress too! We loved the property - it was well equipped and very comfortable. We descaled the kettle and the shower head (not the drenching shower head) and we think the dishwasher might need a clean too as the cups didn’t come out very clean. But all in all it was one of the best cottages we have visited and would definitely be booking again if they will have us. Many thanks

  • "We had a fantastic week at Roddy House."

A beautiful cottage in a quiet spot with plenty of room. Very comfortable with great facilities. A public bridleway outside the cottage takes a leisurely 10 min stroll to the beach in West Bay. Spar is 5 min walk. We would definitely recommend.

  • "The standard of cleanliness was poor especially the kitchen and conservatory."

With the dishwasher both being clean, bin lids being dirty and there were stains and splashes on the kitchen cupboard doors and cobwebs in the conservatory. To be honest for the price charge I would have expected the property to be immaculate and it was far from this.

Thankyou for your constructive feedback we are sorry to hear that you had issues with the cleanliness at the property. We consistently review our cleaning standards and are always here for our guests if you have issues during your stay. Thankyou once again. Property Owner

In a lovely location near the pebble beach at West Bay. The enclosed garden was perfect for little humans and a real sun trap. We would definitely stay again if we are holidaying in that area.

  • "We took our two 17 year old grandsons plus miniature schnauzer with us and found the cottage perfect for our requirements."

There were in fact 2 large sitting rooms with tv’s when including the conservatory and this was a bonus for us. The garden area was completely enclosed which was ideal for our pooch. The separate toilet downstairs also proved invaluable and this was not included on your advertisement. Finally we were able to walk into West Bay within a few minutes.

  • "We came to stay here on the second week of a 2 centre holiday with Sykes."

The house is easy to find and in a lovely location. Right by the path that takes you to the beach and harbour. The property itself is well appointed. However there are not 2 king size mattresses only one so the beds are smaller than advertised. The conservatory is lovely and we spend most of our time in there and the garden is secure and pretty. It is a bit cluttered with unnecessary items and owners personal items left in cupboards/draws etc. There are no mirrors in the bedrooms so if you share with another couple then you have to share a mirror in a cupboard on the landing to dry your hair. Our main issue when we arrived, was that the property was not clean. The property we had just come from was immaculate. This one had grease all over the splash backs, tiles in the kitchen and whole house needs a deep full clean. Every item in the kitchen was sticky and we had to wash glasses, utensils and cutlery including things like measuring spoons and the toaster before we could use them. Under the kitchen cupboards grease and grime so it's not been cleaned properly for a very long time. Quite annoyed especially in a pandemic. I'm on holiday and don't expect to be cleaning before we start our break. Every door knob was dirty and all the switches even toothpaste left on the bathroom light pull. So everything you touched meant a lot of unnecessary hand washing. Skyes were very good about this but it spoilt our stay and we cut it short because of this. All in all if they listen and sort these issues then it will be a great property to rent.

Thank you for your feedback. The property has been cleaned and we apologise for the issues encountered. Property Owner

  • "This house is just perfect for exploring the area, it is very well equipped with everything you would need for a great break."

We spent most of our time when we were at the house, in the conservatory which was light and airy and comfortable. Cooking meals in the kitchen was easy and having the dishwasher removed the dirty dish chore. The cottage is only a short stroll from the harbour at west bay where there are some nice shops, bars & restaurants. I would recommend the Station Kitchen for a lovely dining experience. I would highly recommend this cottage for a holiday, just perfect.
