  • "Lovely cottage & situated in an ideal position for walking into West bay & all other amenities"

  • "We spent another great week at lovely Tern Cottage."

This was our third visit in the last two years and we will definitely be returning. The cottage is so bright and spotlessly clean and comfortable. It is in a perfect position, just a very short walk from the sea and a little further to the harbour. It is truly a home from home. Also it is lovely that the owners, Paul and Alison, take the time to visit us while we are there, such a lovely couple and obviously take pride in their property. Many thanks to them and we look forward to seeing them again in the near future.

  • "An absolutely delightful and charming bungalow."

Spotlessly clean it positively shone. Great location - peaceful and traffic free yet within minutes of the sea, the atmospheric working harbour with its boats, lobster pots, pubs and cafes and the Coastal Path. Heating was a little hit n miss in the evenings which we overcame with our fan heater. While the two of us were fine with the kitchen equipment, four people might find it a little short in some things. We look forward vey much to returning just as soon as there is a vacant booking slot.

  • "We loved the cottage and its great position."

I had not realised exactly how close it was to the beach and coast walks and West Bay was also an easy walk away. The cottage was very clean, well equipped, spacious and comfortable. It was lovely to be greeted with vases of garden flowers in several rooms. There were plenty of places to sit both inside and outside in the pretty garden. The cottage was also very quiet even though it is close to the large caravan park. Our only reservation about the property was the heating in the evenings. I am not sure the temperature at the room thermostat which was situated high up behind the television accurately reflected the temperature where we were sitting on the settee by the window where it felt distinctly cooler than the 21 degrees indicated by thermostat. We did mention heating to the owners who checked it was working as intended but we would have liked to be warmer. It would not however stop us returning as we enjoyed our stay very much.

  • "Had a brilliant week away at Tern cottage with my husband and 2 daughters aged 11 and 12."

The cottage was really clean and the beds were really comfortable for us all and it was the ideal amount of space for us all too. We had a visit from the owner on the second day to see if we had settled in ok, which was good and it was nice to meet her. There's plenty of information left at the cottage which lists all the surrounding areas and restaurant ideas etc which was great. The area in which the cottage is located is perfect for access to the beach/harbour and shops. We visited a different beach every day. We would definitely book this again as it was the perfect base for our holiday.

Lots of lovely places to sit and enjoy the weather both inside and out! The owners were very helpful. West Bay was a great place for walks.

  • "The heating came on in the morning and as it was quite cold weather this was great."

The problem was in afternoon and evening there was no central heating so we were quite cold despite a fire in the lounge. It would have been better if it could have been on then as the weather was so cold.. A minor point but as the water was hard there were lots of bits in the kettle and the filter was missing. Otherwise we very much liked the bungalow and its position so near the sea and facilities in West Bay. The adjacent caravan park was not a problem to us as everywhere was quiet.

  • "Very comfortable property in an excellent location."

Nice and close to the harbour. We were a bit concerned about it being noisy as it was so close to the caravan site but it wasn’t,a problem. Very quiet and no noise at night either. A lovely spot for a relaxing break. We especially liked the conservatory and the little reading nook which caught the afternoon sun. It was nice that the owners came to introduce themselves and make sure everything was ok. We would have booked for next year but it was already booked. We would come again.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our first stay in Dorset."

Tern Cottage was clean and very well equipped and perfect place to stay to enjoy the beautiful sunsets and sunrises West Bay has to offer or to explore the Jurassic Coast. It was very nice to meet the owners who came to check if everything was ok. Everything you need is provided in the cottage and lots of information to work appliances and general information. The beach is a 2 minute walk away or a few minutes more and you are in the harbour with an abundance of places to eat, drink or just people watch. Although the harbour is a very busy place all the shops etc surrounding it are superb with restrictions and systems in place to tackle COVID and we felt perfectly safe. We will definitely be back one day. Mrs J Warren (Essex)
