  • "Absolutely love our holiday beautiful house and garden , would definitely go bk again"

  • "Very rarely does a place look better than the photos."

...but this does! The house is immaculate and the setting stunning. The backdrop of the trees gives a real sense of seclusion and the beautiful garden has many different areas to explore and relax. The pool area is incredibly well equipped and the sofa area with bar to hand made for relaxing evening get togethers. The kitchen has all you would need and the table looking out onto the garden provides for easy family dining whatever the weather. In every respect this house provided for a perfect family holiday.

  • "Considering the price paid for this holiday, we expected the house to be spotless but unfortunately this was not the case."

Some areas of the house were dusty and had cobwebs. The master bed was quite uncomfortable. The dishwasher required rinse aid after one wash so we had to purchase this. A number of items of crockery also had to be washed before being used. It’s a shame these things let them down as the house and location is perfect.

  • "The house was amazing and overall we had a Fantastic time it was just a shame that some bits let it down."

The AGA was not on, it stated when we got there they don’t put on until end of Nov, this wasn’t stated on website. A 2 slice toaster for 10 people is not great Only 4 Robes was a shame Hoover wasn’t working Tap in double bedroom was loose (the one with bath) Water in the sink of the single room wouldn’t drain The main issue was the heating in the bedrooms wasn’t working, which wasn’t great when it was minus 2 one night, the heated towel rails worked in some bedrooms but two of them didn’t have a heated towel rail, so three bedrooms were extremely cold. We did try increasing the temperature via the thermostat but it didn’t work.

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments, it is heartening to receive so many positive reviews it really does mean the world to us Branksome Wood House is over 6000 sq ft and takes quite a lot to maintain, even changing light bulbs can take a considerable amount of time. We try really hard to make sure everything is in order for your arrival. Occasionally we get it wrong and when we do, we like to hear about it immediately and be given the opportunity to put it right. We now have a private rubbish collection, more drinking glasses, a 4 slice toaster, constant 28C heated pool, knife sharpener, increased lighting in the swimming pool area, ground floor heated to 23 and first floor heated to 22 in the autumn/winter months. So we really do listen and try where ever possible to act on your requests. We look forward to welcoming new guests and old to our much loved family home Property Owner

We all enjoyed the facilities and the social spaces. The house was great to get to the beach and the town either by car or walking The one problem we had was resolved within 30 minutes, with quick and effective communication. Would thoroughly recommend booking this property.

  • "For a place able to take 10 people there was a shortage of mugs which given the ample amount of all crockery was a shame."

Maybe some more side tables on which to stand things like drinks would have been useful. We had an issue with the water heating on the first two days in that temperature was tepid. However a call to the care-taking agency resulted in the visit from an engineer who simply adjusted the boiler temperature - why had it been turned down ? On the positive side we enjoyed the pool and hot tub and sauna. The garden was secluded and attractive, the smart televisions allowed us to enjoy our traditional family music night and have access to U-tube etc. The rooms were all airy and light and well equipped. No-one complained about the beds. We didn't tackle the AGA but other cooking facilities and equipment were very good. However, a two slice toaster for 9 people ?? Overall a good choice on our part.

The house was lovely very spacious and comfortable it was nice that all bedrooms had an ensuite bathroom. The kitchen was well equipt and the pool area was lovely. The swimming pool and hot tub were well used. The garden was also lovely, well maintained and large with plenty of space for parking. We would love to return at a future date.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Branksome Wood House."

On arrival there was a burglar alarm - which we weren't aware of and it took a while to switch off - but Sykes were really helpful and they said they would update the house information for new guests. It is in a great location within the woods and you can take a lovely walk down to the beach and within easy reach of Westbourne for restaurants. The house was comfortable. The pool was heated but when tested was 24C to 26C rather than 28C so although the children made good use of the pool, the adults not so much! However, there was a hot tub which was very nice. The mattresses were quite soft for our liking and we changed rooms but they were also soft. There was extensive lighting throughout the house and beautiful gardens but lots of switches in not quite obvious places. The electrics tripped a few times too. The gardeners came mid week (a warning would have been good and they should have buzzed at the gates, not just let themselves in) and the pool maintenance people came early on the last morning (although we asked the to come back as the children wanted a final swim, again why not buzz to request entry). Overall would recommend.
