  • "Really lovely cottage with everything we needed and more!"

Haven't stayed in a cottage that is so we'll equipped for a long time rather than just the bare minimum required, little extras like enough dishwasher tablets for the week and plenty of baking trays and pans. We had a perfect week in the lovely village, both pubs are worth a visit or multiple visits! Absolutely great for us!

  • "We had to come home early (Wednesday) as we could not sleep on the beds."

I have never slept on such an uncomfortable bed. We tried all three and they were all the same. There was no wi-fi which I appreciate must have been mentioned in the details but which I missed. Also the dvd was not working, it would not connect to the TV. But the cottage was very clean and in a quiet position.

Unfortunately it is difficult to please everyone with mattresses. I think I have had about 4 mentions of mattresses to hard. Silent night mattresses have now been replaced with softer one’s. Hopefully I will not now get complaints of being to soft and having to stay in bed all day as it was so comfortable. Probably the dvd problem was not selecting source on the tv. As for the WiFi, it stated no WiFi in the listing. Although it is available at the Pub and Coffee shop. Property Owner

The owner is very approachable but in no way intrusive I did have the opportunity to ask him for some local information which he gave freely & proved to be very useful for which I am very grateful, the Ring 'o' Bells pub next door is a welcoming venue & a varied menu offered this menu is about to change & should be welcomed. All in all anybody booking this cottage will enjoy their stay.

  • "Had a great stay in April at The Cider Barn in Wookey, perfect location, very handy for everywhere."

We walked to the Wookey Caves, which was only a couple of miles. Three great local pubs all within walking distance, one actually next door, due to this there is constant cars parked down the side of the property which does affect privacy but you get used to it. The cottage had everything we needed, very compact. My only negatives would very that you have to go outside the front door to get access to the rear garden/seating area, as there is no back door, so we found we only used it once. Also I found the double bed a bit uncomfortable, seemed smaller than a normal double and due to a mattress protector, as a middle aged female, it made me overheat a lot, whence I didn't really get a good night sleep. But apart from this it was great and we would return if coming dow to this area again.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at The old Cider Barn and will be booking to go again later in the year, when hopefully the weather will be a bit better!"

The cottage is very well equipped and very clean and tidy. The fittings and fixtures are first class and you can see that a lot of thought has been put in to the build and fittings of the house. The twin beds were comfortable, but very noisy if you turned over in the night the other occupant of the room would certainly know! It is well situated for trips to the coast and also to various interesting towns nearby. There is little or no mobile phone coverage at the property and no internet, so if this is important to you, then this is not the property for you, personally it was good since you are not bothered by calls etc. if you need internet it is available in the pub next door and also at the Wookey Hub just down the road. The owner Mr Spearman was very helpful and when we arrived there was milk in the fridge and mince pies and a bottle of wine to greet us, a lovely touch. He also came and introduced himself to us and was most helpful. All in all a very enjoyable and restful break over Christmas.

Owner's friendliness a pleasant addition. I feel that Sykes should always alert customers that stairs may be difficult for elderly folk, as i had this problem with a recent h property in Portland. All in all a very nice little place to stay, i hope to use it again. I would recommend it to anyone.

  • "We enjoyed our week in The Old Cider Barn."

The cottage has been renovated well & is ideally located for local towns & countryside. It was well equipped for our needs & we were able to get mobile signal from one of the upstairs bedrooms. The only recommendation we would make is for the double bed mattress to be replaced as its lopsided & uncomfortable to sleep on.

We loved the private seating area which catches the sun beautifully. Their are many walks right on the doorstep and many places to visit such as Wells with it's magnificent Cathedral and wonderful cafes, restaurants and lovely individual shops.
