“Excellent cottage overlooking the castle park, only a few minutes walk to the high street.”
If wanting to eat/drink out would recommend booking tables at beginning of the week, not much availability on the same day. Great roast dinner at The Purple Dog. Cottage was spacious, warm and had all amenities, except a hairdryer! Definitely would return to stay here.

“Location great, view over castle grounds, lovely spacious rooms, all spotlesly clean but why no microwave?”
Self catering properties need a microwave, they aren't expensive and it has been mentioned before. The beds were comfortable but some of the bed linen was getting bobbly, needed replacing. Overall really enjoyed the stay, lovely clean apartment near to castle on edge of town but just a few tweaks would make it really special.- Mrs Martin, September 2020
“Very nice stay for us, really liked the building and decor.”
, surprusingly spacious for a cottage of that era. Parking was a bit difficult at times. Also there was construction going on 2 houses down that caused a lot of loud and irritating noises however that of course is beyond control of owners. Owner lives below and has a dog that is very sweet but does bark quite a lot, so if you're sensitive to that sort of thing this may not be the place for you. However it was fine for us and owner very helpful/ameanable to any reasonable request. The kitchen is nicely stocked with nice dishes and cutlery, and dishwasher and clothes washer very handy. Shower and bath facilities excellent and good heating system kept the cottage nice and warm.- Mrs Harrison, February 2020
“We found the apartment homely and comfortable!”
An excellent location with regard the town and a lovely park view from the bay window.- Mrs Mcdermott, February 2020
“The flat was in a wonderful location, very close to the park with an amazing view of the castle.”
The town centre was a short walk away, however the location was very quite at night. The flat was tidy and well maintained. The main room was bright and well designed. The kitchen area was mostly well equipped, though it could have done with some wooden spoons. The bedrooms were large and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again next time we visit Colchester.- Mrs Thomas, November 2019
“Our hosts were brilliant and the location and the house are extraordinary.”- Mr Subero, July 2019
“Lovely accommodation, very comfortable.”
The only thing missing was a microwave so that I could heat my breakfast cereal. Other than that I would certainly return.- Mrs Diggins, May 2019
