  • "A wonderful sized house for 14 people."

Plenty of space for everyone. Swimming pool was warm, great entertainment for all. Laminated information needs updating. (All the parasols don’t work) More serving dishes in the kitchen would be helpful.

  • "We had such an amazing time not much to fault other than the high levels of chlorine which made us cough a lot whilst in the pool and the low water pressure."

Other than that we had the best week of our lives and would love to come back!

  • "Just returned from a weekend stay at maisonwyck."

We stay away at these sort of properties a lot and this was by far the nicest one I’ve ever stayed it. It was immaculately clean and the photos don’t do it justice. The only thing it was missing was a butler. If I’m going to be extremely picky there isn’t many baking trays and one of the en-suite toilets didn’t flush. Having said that , we had a problem with the heating and someone was there to fix it for us with in minutes, so if I had bothered to ask for it to be fixed I’m sure it would have been. The owner of the property was easy to get hold of and very helpful prior to our stay. It’s in a good location- although we didn’t leave. I will certainly be returning !

  • "This was the most luxurious accommodation we have ever had, was nice to experience how the other half live."

We just couldn't believe our eyes when we first walked into the accommodation and kept getting lost with the sheer size of the property and lost with how impressive it all was. The swimming pool was the best part of all, was amazing having total privacy and not having to book timeslots like a public swimming pool. There were 4 family that went which meant it only cost £360 per family for a week which was an absolute steel. You couldn't get a caravan cheaper than what we paid although we definitely couldnt afford this in the summer time but I like winter holidays anyway.

  • "The property is lovely but a little rough around the edges."

The shower in the Manhattan bathroom was one of the worst I’ve ever used in terms of pressure and the bracket for holding the shower wand was snapped, and the whole water pipe detached from the wall at one point! Also we wanted to build a fire pit but there was no wood/kindling provided as per listing, and the charcoal was wet. The kitchen was under equipped with no baking trays, roasting tins, water jugs, cling film, foil, oil or salt and pepper and only a half a dozen mugs - which for ten of us we got through quickly! Essentially if you can think of it, you should bring it. The sound system in the games room was set up almost like a puzzle requiring my two brothers (one of whom is a DJ and the other a sound engineer) almost an hour to actually plug it all in correctly. Finally, there was a broken light fixture in the games room and the shower room by the pool had flickering lights. All that being said the beds were comfortable, the whole place was very clean, the pool was fantastic (if a touch chilly!) and we had a wonderful stay once we’d gone out a bought enough stuff to make the kitchen work. Really it just needs a maintenance man to visit and fix all the broken bits up and the kitchen needs outfitting for cooking rather than just drinking.

  • "Just wow..."

What a house this is. We booked this for my 40th birthday with 10 of us and we had the most amazing 4 days 3 nights here. From the games room, outdoor space to the BBQ area to the indoor pool and Hottub this is an amazing place. The only issue we had was the water pressure in the showers this is very low however do not let this stop you from booking this amazing place as this is very minor. The pool is amazing and deep so you can dive towards the back of the pool. The sound system is very good as there are speakers in the garden, pool area and games room. The games room is where we spent most of our time. The full size snooker table got used all the time and the bar space is amazing. Stocked with lots of different glasses for all your drinks. The beer fridge is very good we put new beers in there and these were cold in no time.

  • "Had a great week at Maisonwyck."

Well located. House was very clean and tidy. We especially enjoyed the garden area/swimming pool/bar area. Our only feedback would be around the “ tech” in the house. TVs largely didn’t work and the speaker system mentioned in the listing didn’t work . That aside we had a great time and would return.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay, the house is big and spacious with great facilities."

We particularly loved the pool and found the house to be excellent for a large family staycation. There were a few teething problems upon arrival such as pool water being dirty, we were short a few towels and the back door lock was broken. This did unfortunately mean we had a bit of administration and organising to do early on, but the owner and his team were excellent in sorting everything out for us as quickly as possible. We understand the property is new to the holiday rental market. There are a few small improvements that could be made in order to in enhance the experience : - improved description and inventory of facilities on the website and app to make planning what you need to take easier. -More kitchen utensils: Serving dishes, Peeler , Garlic press, Tea towels, Scissors, Colander - Bath mats in the shower and bathrooms - supply of pool / beach towels (we only had one towel and one hand towel each). - A Starter / welcome kit with small supplies of dishwasher tablets, washing detergent etc - Bedside lamps in every room - Hairdryers in each room - Mirror in every bathroom - Digital terrestrial TV working on all TVs or at a minimum the Amazon fire sticks set up with a login (particularly for the older members of our group who don’t have their own Amazon logins) - improved variety lighting throughout the property, the dining room lights are way too bright with no option to have better mood lighting at meal time.

  • "Maisonwyck is a Grand residence with some luxury fittings but all very comfortable."

There is a large entertainment area and large outside seating and barbecue area. There are TV,s everywhere! The swimming pool is of a good size but shelves quickly and needs some getting used to. Extra care would be needed with small children. The Owners have only started letting very recently and although there were a couple of minor issues they were dealt with immediately. I was contacted soon after arrival to check everything was satisfactory and the few problems were quickly fixed. Getting to Canvey Island is not easy to get to due to concentration of traffic, but if you choose your time it makes a big difference. For instance one of my daughters and her family left at 4.30 a.m and breezed back home, but my wife and I left at 9.30a.m and took 3.5 hrs longer for the same journey! We liked to walk down to the sea wall and walk on the pathway - lots of interest and we particularly liked Leigh on Sea. We also visited Beth Chatto's garden. There seems to be a feeling of community with lots of small shops still alive. (Unlike a lot of places). And it was nice to come back to Maisonwyck. Good holiday enjoyed by all 11 of us.
