  • "Ideal cottage, position great and very comfortable with everything needed provided."

Excellent welcome pack. Nice garden. If nit-picking would like something in en-suite shower to put or hang body wash and shampoo on. However the shower in the en suite was the best I’ve ever used.

The master bedroom was large, comfy bed and very good en-suite. It was clean throughout and the garden was good for our dog. Only comment was we couldn't find both parking spaces as only one was marked ( which was under cover). The 2nd space was found by luck, it's not marked though which would help. Otherwise the village has a friendly community with excellent local pub, cafe and shop. Much appreciated wine milk, biscuits etc that was left for us. Thank you.

!! Our THIRD visit to Ivy Cottage was during xmas 2023 for 2 weeks. We chose Ivy Cottage because of the wonderful location with fantastic bird watching from the front door(or even the kitchen window!).However our stay was not quite as good as before. We felt Ivy Cottage to be in need of a little tlc. Both the couches in the lounge are now warn out and were uncomfortable to sit on for longer periods.Being December we were expecting to spend more time indoors and hence we noticed that both were well worn.Just a few little items in the kitchen were also showing signs of heavy usage.Washing machine not doing a very good spin. Thus using tons more electric to dry clothes. When your there for 2 weeks you need to do washing including change the bed etc.Fridge freezer was impossible to change the temperature,as the touch screen adjustment would not allow us set the freezer a little colder, should be at minus 18,not minus 14,and fridge would not reset to plus 5 from plus 3,ie freezer to warm and fridge to cold.Window vents in lounge, 2 broken.Had to tape them up to avoid drafts and further use of gas to keep up with heat loss To sum up,just a few items in need of some repair, otherwise a wonderful house in a superb location. • "The cottage was in a nice spot with the tidal river ebbing and flowing so plenty of interest."

The bottom sheet on my bed had not been changed, which was obvious because it was crumpled along with a long hair. I messaged the owner about this and was told that she "used a back up cleaner" also the gas fire does not work as it isn't even connected.

Thank you for the feedback and as said in our private message exchange, we do apologize for the oversight with the bed sheet, an unfortunate mistake as we usually have very positive reviews on the cleanliness of the property. Apologies again. As explained in our private message exchange, the gas fire is no longer connected but guests are of course welcome to use the gas central heating as needed. We are pleased you enjoyed the location. Property Owner

Even a nice rear garden if you want to dine outside. If you want a quite and comfortable break then this is for you. Many places to visit around, but if like us, we park the car up for the week and walk everywhere.

The welcome pack was a nice touch. This home has everything you need. One down point is the parking, in the photo it looks as if you could park on the driveway, (a good piece if photography) you can't it's in a block. Tried using the drawing that owner sent but the undercover bay was too narrow and someone else had parked in the other space so we just parked in any bay. This made the decision for us not to book this property again as being disabled it was a long walk for me. However other people will like it.

Hi Janet. Thanks for your feed back and I'm glad you enjoyed your week. The DVDs you mentioned were removed on advice when we were operating under some covid restrictions but I will check to see whether it is advisable for them to be replaced now so thanks for the reminder on that. It was a shame that the foot ferry finished operating at the end of October though. We will definitely stay again as my daughter and family live in Witham which is only about a 40 minute drive away. My grandchildren loved coming over especially seeing all the rowing boats out on Remembrance Sunday and there was also a barbecue at the Rowing Club which was next to the cottage. Everybody was very friendly and our dog loved going out along the estuary.

  • "We visited this cottage as a family to chill out for the week, on arrival we we surprised to see we had our own under cover reserved parking bay."

The cottage is literally the other side of a path from the river with a nice open green next to it and a fantastic pub called the Anchor which serves great fresh food and has a lovely terrace. The cottage it self is massive inside, on entry we were amazed about how modern it is, with a large living room, two large double rooms and a smaller room. All the facilities were really nice and well finished with a nice garden area. The care package left was a very nice touch and goes a long way to show how the owners appreciate our business. Thank you for a lovely break.
