The property

Ivy Cottage is a splendid cottage attractively resting on the banks of the River Colne in the Essex village of Rowhedge.

Boasting welcoming accommodation for six and sitting in a wonderfully peaceful location, treat yourself and your family to that long-awaited break away from everyday life.

Most of your relaxing time will be spent in the spacious and bright living/dining room; the sitting area is uplifted by dual-aspect windows, while the layout also benefits from snug seating, a TV and a gas fire.

On a warm day, fling the patio doors open and enjoy the fresh air while you enjoy your meals at the dining table.

Just off of this, you will find the splendid kitchen, fully equipped with high-quality appliances to set you up perfectly for your cottage holiday.

The first floor of Ivy Cottage is where you will find the three immaculate bedrooms, one of the two double bedrooms boasts its own stunning en-suite shower room while the third bedroom contains a cosy single bed with additional pull out trundle.

The interior concludes delightfully with an all-white family bathroom, where you can enjoy a peaceful bubble bath to recharge your batteries at the end of the day.

Both the front and the back of the cottage offer wonderful areas to sit and relax, choose from a comfortable seating area which overlooks the River Colne, or an enclosed rear garden with a lovely lawn.

Rowhedge is home to an Award winning Real Ale pub, a further pub serving good quality meals with a waterside terrace, a cafe, a well stocked grocery store and a small convenience store - all within a 2 min walk of the property as well as the amenities including fishing, bird-watching, kayaking and cycling.

From Rowhedge, you can take the short footferry across the river towards Wivenhoe where you can partake in these activities also.

Fingringhoe Wick Nature Reserve - renowned for nightingales and wading birds offering lots of activities during school holidays, and Mersea Island which is 7.5 miles or a 15 min drive away.

The fabulous town of Colchester also sits at your fingertips, showcasing some excellent architecture as well as shops and eateries of the highest order.

Colchester 3 miles

A pretty little village set southeast of the stunning town of Colchester. Rowhedge sits on the banks of the River Colne which boasts a couple of friendly pubs, two cafés and a convenience store, it makes for a lovely base for a holiday in Essex. Take the short footferry trip across to the charming town of Wivenhoe just the other side of the river, providing more of a selection of amenities. From Wivenhoe, hop on the train or perhaps follow the Ferry Marsh Trail to get to the attractive and wonderfully appointed town of Colchester which boasts the fascinating 11th century Castle Museum surrounded by luscious gardens. Just north of Colchester is the glorious Dedham Vale AONB, it provides breath-taking walking and cycling country.
