After dinner, take a seat on the plush sofa in the sitting room and unwind in front of the TV for the evening.

In the morning, freshen up with a shower before joining your family in the conservatory, flooded in natural light; you can look forward to curling up with a book on the furniture for a moment alone.

Wisteria Place is just a mere stone's throw away from a well-stocked convenience store to assist you with your self-catering experience and pubs serving home-cooked meals can also be found in the village.

Be sure to visit the Jam Museum for a fascinating insight into the history of preserving products and have the chance to dress up as a 19th century jam maker!

Venture further afield to Mersea Island, home to the Mersea Boating Lake, a salt water lake which offers visitors with kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, windsurfing and plenty more watersports on the east coast, whilst also enjoying access to a private beach.

Take a short journey to the ancient town of Maldon, home to the pretty Promenade park located on the bank of the river Blackwater, which hosts fun activities for children, including Splash Park; whilst in the town you can explore the award-winning breweries and Vineyards.

Dedham is just a short drive away and is set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, whilst offering visitors with access to the Dedham River Trail, boating opportunities along the River Stour, as well as making for a great place to dine out, with The Boathouse, MIlsoms and Le Talbooth being points of interest.

Near Dedham you can find the hamlet of Flatford, home to the Stour Valley Path & St Edmund Way and the Flatford Field, for those walkers of the group, along with being home to the gorgeous RSPB Flatford Wildlife Garden.

About the location

Messing 2.1 miles; Maldon 7.7 miles; Colchester 10.6 miles

Settled in the beautiful borough of Colchester, is the village of Tiptree, renowned for its production of jam, which began in 1864. The jam making is run by a family business, Wilkin and Sons, where they use the village name to brand the jam and a factory with a museum can be found in the village for a fascinating insight into the process. Due to the development in the area, Tiptree was a contender for the 'largest village in England'. The Tiptree Tea Rooms is another attraction, with a quirky interior and serving the famed jam, amongst other delicious home-made lunches. The small hamlet of Tiptree Heath can be found to the south of the village, which hosts a huge heathland, as well as a 25-hectare nature reserve, which offers a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest. This region is home to a wealth of attractions including Colchester Zoo, housing a variety of unique species, Coggeshall Museum to soak in the local history and the Museum Of Power in Langford for a riveting collection of machinery.
