    Situated in a private unmade road just behind the waterfront this proved to be a perfect holiday location in West Mersea. Just a two minute walk around the corner to the waterfront with various eateries from this very well equipped clean house. Three double bedrooms with en-suite shower room to master. In addition to a comfy lounge nice kitchen and separate dining room. Very dog friendly with all hard flooring downstairs and a very helpfully provided stairgate you can fit to stop the dog going upstairs, a nice touch. Small patio garden perfect for evening dining. We took a 4m boat and there's room for this on the drive behind the wall in addition to a car with the slipway being just a five min walk with the boat on a trolley.

The property

This spacious detached house is in an ideal location on a quiet unmade road, within easy reach of beaches and everything else you need for a fantastic holiday on Mersea Island.

On the ground floor there’s a well-equipped kitchen and a cosy sitting room with a warming open fire, ideal for the chillier months, or in the summer you can throw open the patio doors leading to the courtyard – a real suntrap.

There is a further door from the sitting room leading through to the splendid dining room, an ideal space for delicious evening meals to be enjoyed whilst discussing the adventures of the day.

Outside the patio is an excellent spot for a morning coffee, or you could relax with a good book before eating out at one of the many restaurants nearby.

Upstairs there is a family bathroom and three individually-furnished bedrooms, a twin, a super king-size double boasting en-suite shower facilities, and a further twin, with the super king-size double and one of the twins being zip/link for flexible sleeping options.

Located on the western main hub of Mersea Island, a multitude of watersports can be enjoyed such as sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and kitesurfing, as well as fishing and crabbing opportunities aplenty.

There is also bike hire available in the village, ideal for exploring the island on two wheels.

Refueling is easy with the wonderful selection cafes, pubs and restaurants nearby and you should definitely aim to try some of the famous Mersea oysters, grown by local families for generations.

Indeed, why not buy some fresh fish from the Mersea fishermen and enjoy an evening barbecue back at your holiday home?

The island is also ideal for those with a keen interest in the outdoors, with wonderful wildlife, walking and cycling to be relished in abundance.

From the east of the island, during peak times, you can also catch a ferry to Brightlingsea to sample some of the famous fish and chips on offers and marvel at the rainbow-coloured beach huts.

There really is so much to do on this beautiful island and you’ll want to return again and again to this wonderful holiday cottage.

Around seven miles square, beautiful Mersea Island is one of the most easterly islands in the UK. The island enjoys an abundance of wildlife and is ideal for walkers, bird watchers and watersports lovers alike. The east of the island offers unspoiled, remote locations, filled to the brim with wildlife and home to lovely beaches, whilst the west enjoys a wide selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and watersports opportunities. The island is famous for its oysters, to be bought from huts or enjoyed in the local restaurants and is situated just nine miles from Colchester, a lovely town offering a castle, museums, a zoo, excellent sports and leisure facilities, a cinema, great shopping and good restaurants. A little further afield is Ipswich, with an excellent shopping centre and interesting places, including Christchurch Mansion, museums, galleries, and the trendy Waterfront marina with wine bars, restaurants and river boat trips. A fabulous Island, ideal for a holiday to remember.
