  • "Sykes had not updated info on their website that barn had been converted from 2 into 1 bedroom."

Fortunately, this was not a problem for me on this occasion but Sykes completely failed to communicate with me after my booking and taking my money. Only learned this 2 days before departure from the owner. Communication with the owner was excellent. Great location & good use of a small place.

  • "Having had a wonderful 2 week stay at The Big Barn I have already booked again for next year!"

The Big Barn is light and airy, very comfortable and super clean. The views from the bedroom area wonderful and the bed is super comfortable. It’s position is perfect and so close to the jetty, I was out paddleboarding with seals and otters all the time. With fabulous mountains in the other direction who could ask for more!

  • "We stayed in the big barn for two nights and it was an excellent base for exploring."

The scenery is stunning and the view from the bedroom window is gorgeous. The barn was spotlessly clean and milk, eggs and butter had kindly been provided. We found the barn to be quite warm at night even with none of the heaters on so slept with the windows open. The big barn kindly accepts dogs which was a necessity for us however he was not a fan of the spiral staircase and we had to carry him up and down these, just something to be aware of if anyone has a big dog who wouldn't manage the stairs. Communication was great prior to our arrival and the barn has everything you could need for a short stay. Thank you

  • "Beautiful accommodation in a quiet remote location, spotlessly clean on arrival."

Only negative is the low ceiling over the beds, this is apparent from the photos so was not a surprise but could cause some unexpected bumps to the head!

Hello panda for stay at the big barn it was well equipped comfortable beds and fantastic views the only small downside of the spiral staircase being a bit on the old side lol I did struggle a bit but apart from that it was an amazing holiday amazing stay thank you so much

  • "This place felt like a home."

When I say that, it didn’t feel like someone else’s home, it felt like my home! Just as soon as we arrived we were welcomed by the hosts very friendly dog. We made our way inside, and I just knew it was going to be an enjoyable holiday. The big barn is very bright and modern throughout and with me having a bad back, I did appreciate the supportive bed mattress. Shower was very modern, Kitchen facilities allowed us to cook some nice meals. There was plenty of fridge freezer space for a weeks worth of food for two people, Parking outside was abundant. Don’t let the location fool you. Despite being a long way from the nearest large settlement, the facilities have full internet access with all the YouTube and Netflix you can eat. I do love this corner of Scotland though. It’s got the right mix of mountain and coast. If the mountains are cloaked in cloud, then you often find sunshine on the coast.

  • "Its very remote about 40 minutes away from main town."

Loads of flies, mosquitos and midges got bitten every night not sure why as no flying bugs in bedroom. Gael was very nice . Didnt like having neighbours so near in Wee barn as they just let there dog roam around so garden not shut off from the others and dog poo not picked up straight away.
