  • "The location is wonderful, obviously, and it’s great to have the big windows."

I found the place fairly basic – the shower room felt rather like a caravan, with the rickety shower and the tiny basin. The armchair and sofa were squeaky and not particularly comfortable and the throws rather tired. A sharp knife would be good, as also a heated towel rail, as suggested by another reviewer. But above all, please, please, if your wifi is really poor, say so in the description. There’s nothing wrong in not having reliable internet, as long as you say so. Not saying so is unfair to people who actually need internet access, as I do. Here it is just about adequate for plain emails and (mostly) listening to audio and that is it. Once or twice I had to use my phone as a hotspot, which is extremely heavy on data. This frustration probably coloured my view of the place. The instructions to get to the place were useless. It’s actually really easy to find and here are proper instructions: From Kinlochbervie follow the road to the right up to Oldshoremore, passing the Kinlochbervie Hotel. Continue on the same road - do NOT follow the sign to Oldshoremore to the left – and after just under three miles there is a small phone mast and then a sign to the left to Drumnaguie and Polin. Follow that. After less than half a mile, reaching Drumnaguie, pass a white house on the right and you will then see four wheely bins on the left in a passing place and to the right a steep drive down, marked 165.

Distances! Also no privacy when you sit in the garden.

  • "Very nice play to stay."

Everything you could need for a week away. Bed is comfy, shower is decent. The only thing I would be wary of is if you're going there to work from home the Wifi is too slow for Google Hangouts but is ok for browsing the web. I realise that might be a niche requirement.

  • "A delightful property and just right for two people."

The location for us was perfect, central to all of the walks we wanted to do, with a wonderful view of Polin Beach out the front windows. The annex is well appointed and very nicely kept, everything you might need has been provided. Our hostess was pleasant and welcoming. If we had any quibble at all, it'd be not having a washer available in some way. With the occasional rainy weather and muddy terrain, it would have been nice to be able to wash out a pair of hiking trousers, socks, etc., but this is just a "nice to have" item, not a necessity. A lovely place to stay full stop.

Thank you for sharing the annex of your home. The location was wonderful and enhanced by the exceptional weather. Hope we can revisit in the future.

  • "Lovely little cottage."

Small - tiny bathroom, 4'6'' bed, no dishwasher - but very well equipped. Remote. Directions need revising as very difficult to find - had to ask the locals! Blessed by good weather which made it enjoyable. Well stocked Spar in Kinlochbervie & a restaurant nearby and a good daytime cafe.

Clean, well provisioned with all you could need. Tastefully decorated. Perfect for a couple. Landlady was friendly, helpful and unobtrusive. Thank you Annie. Kinlochbervie and its surroundings are stunning. It gives you access to the county of Sutherland, beautiful white beaches, lochs, lochans, primeval landscape that is etched in your imagination forever. We were there just for four days and we only scratched the surface of the thing we wanted to do and see. A guarantee that we will be back!

  • "Had such a lovely time visiting that area of Scotland."

Alex was just a five minute walk from a beautiful beach which was completely private with stunning views. We were met by the owner on arrival who helped us in to Alex and settled in very quickly. Everything we needed and could’ve required. Comfortable lounge area, dining area, well appointed kitchen Uncomfortable bedroom with beautiful views to the front of the Annex. Only downside was the sink in the toilet was very small and the shower water Pressure wasn’t great. But it didn’t stop us from enjoying the facility or using anything within the home. I absolutely love staying there and Recommend it to anyone. Watching the password every morning and evening was also quite entertaining. Thank you for the lovely visit and stay

  • "Delightful, comfortable and peaceful accomodation with amazing views down to the pure white sandy beach and bay of Polin."

Very well equipped and immaculately clean. Bed especially comfortable and shower always had plenty of hot water. We stayed 7 nights. Atmospheric crofting hamlet with ruined crofts which you walk through to get to the start of the path down to the pristine beach. Although relatively remote, it just takes a few minutes by car to get to Kinlochbervie with its shop, fishing harbour and very smart new cafe and gift shop and then on to either scenic Durness and the north or south to Ullapool etc. We even managed to get to Cape Wrath. Beautiful walks from the doorstep , three beaches and even Sandwood Bay.We saw lots of wildlife and interesting birds of prey. Our only small suggestion is that a heated towel rail would have helped to get our towels dry but this is probably not possible in the compact en suite . The owner Annette who lives in the attached house is warm, helpful and friendly . We would definitely hope to return and would not hesitate to recommend Annie's Annex to others.

  • "Super property."

It provided us with all our needs and were not disappointed with its location. A 5 minute walk to the beautiful beach. The surrounding hills were what you would expect from this part of Scotland, including visits from the local stags and deer. The owner (Annette) was very welcoming and has a charming personality and a pleasure to talk to. Shops a Spar and garage are less than 5 miles away and cater for almost everything.
