“Well worth the journey, just for the views.”
We had never visited the Isle of Skye, so were more than pleased when I booked a holiday week. We broke the 430 mile journey from Yorkshire by way of a b and b 15 miles or so west of Glasgow, thus enabling us to travel though the Highlands in day light hours.
The Cottage is enchanting, very 'tardis' like, clean tidy and nicely decorated with a nice modern kitchen, lounge, and bathroom on the ground floor and three bedrooms upstairs.
On our arrival the weather was still lovely and sunny so we were able to sit outside, in the garden, which overlooked the sea and stoney beach. The sound of the water lapping onto the beach, from our view up on the hill side, as we sipped our respective glasses of wine, was fantastic. Peace and tranquillity ruled. No need to light the coal and log burning fire in the lounge, a small electric fire was adequate when needed at night. The foot thick stone walls kept out any noise from the outside world.
Lots of off road walks available near-by, and a local shop, only 5 mins drive can provide most requirements.
The local Community Hall, 10 mins by car, provides a good selection of snacks and drinks, which was ideal as we returned from some of our walks.
(Our biggest regret was the fact we didn't own this lovely cottage). A lovely scenic Island, and a beautiful old Cottage. What a fantastic week we had.
Bev, Fraser, and Harvey our Lab. He loved it as well.
