  • "Not to Sykes normal standard of cottage."

Lovely location but cottage needs some tlc. Mould on bedroom ceiling and peeling wallpaper for example. Overall just needs sprucing up a bit. Not sure what cleaning had been done before we arrived but many of the glasses, plates and cutlery was dirty.

  • "The location of the property is its biggest selling point, the site photographs do it no Justice and I would strongly recommend they are updated, to show the beauty of the view from the cottage."

Additionally the cottage has had a lovely extension added since the photo was taken, which gives great panoramic views of the bay, distant mountains and surrounding countryside.

  • "Great holiday lovely cottage the only fault would be the double bed is not very comfortable and the shower needs to be looked at, great if you like a cold shower but as soon as you add heat the pressure drops."

Still a lovely break nice area to stay to see everything’s and yes we would go back.

We had the benefit of good weather so we were out walking most of the time. I had not been to Staffin for 40 years but I was not disappointed in any way. The magnificent view from the cottage over the Bay and beyond was a constant source of wonder. More than happy to return when this wretched virus has been dealt with.

  • "We had a wonderful time at Slioch - the house was beautifully and thoughtfully prepared, despite the Covid restrictions and we had everything we needed for a very comfortable, safe stay."

We cooked largely at the property and we had all the implements necessary and everything was spotlessly clean. The cottage was cosy and warm and welcoming with a fabulous view from the little sunroom where we sat overlooking the sea every evening. We sat outside at the picnic table each morning for breakfast -it was idyllic. Our host was very kind and helpful whenever we got in touch. We are very much looking forward to future visits.

  • "The house is better than described; it now has a large porch allowing uninterrupted views of the coast in all weathers."

The garden has loads of visiting birds who tapped the window for more food! The beach is just 15 minutes walk, through a sheep field, the dinosaur beach a short drive. Perfect place to relax. No WiFi caused panic as I hadn’t noticed but in the end our kids 21-24 relaxed into the beauty of the place.

Loved the views & there's a new additional extension at the front which is a cosy covered place to sit & watch the sea life before you in all weathers. There's ample space to sit out too if the weather is good. Good base to explore many parts of the Island. Nice to be close to village shops too but far enough away for peace & quiet. We really enjoyed our stay!

  • "Lovely cottage except for a couple of points."

Looking at the picture on the website it gives a false impression of how close you are to the beach,in a way you are, but to get to it it's a small hike to the path. The cottage itself has everything you need including lots of dust and cobwebs I know it's only a holiday rental but it needs a deep cleaning. Both myself and hubby were both poorly with colds by the Wednesday so we left for home then, on saying that we would most definitely stay there again.

! the garden did need a bit of a mow but it was nice that we could have our dog with us and he liked having a garden . there is a sqeaky stair half way which sounded a bit loud at night if or in our case when you need the loo at night as the bathroom is down stairs . if the weather is bad there is plenty of dvds and games but for us the weather was so hot we spent most of the time outside.

Glasphein is so peaceful and tranquil and the people were all friendly. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, made even more so by the constantly changing light and weather. We lit a real fire every night making the cottage homely, drinking a glass of wine and watching a DVD. Our Labrador loved the beach and other hill walks.
