Comfortable beds, really clean, and came equipped with everything we needed. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be back!

We found it to be clean and well equipped for our family of four. The views from the sitting room window are stunning. We were especially lucky to experience the sunset over the Isles of Eigg and Rum.

  • "The 2 single beds need replacing with new comfortable mattresses and bases immediately."

They are so old! The owner told me they were new 2 years ago but this can not be true! Maybe new to the cottage but not bought brand new! Grater is really really rusty. Hoover doesn't work very well at all... often spreading dust instead of sucking it up! Settees - not comfortable. More tea spoons would be an improvement. Better/replacement frying pan would also be good. Bathroom and main double bedroom good. Location and parking good. 20 or so steps up which the description does mention. Great views. The cleaner does an amazing job.

The guest phoned me whilst I was on holiday overseas to say her 10 and 14 year old found the beds uncomfortable and was giving them bad backs and what was I going to do about it! Beds are very subjective but we replaced the pine slated beds for divan beds as the pine beds were were uncomfortable ,two years ago. None of our other guests have ever complained. I phoned Sykes and our cleaner and eventually arranged two new toppers to be provided. The vacuum cleaner our cleaner uses each week as is working well. Teaspoons are very consumable and we will replace them so thank you for letting us know. Steps are mentioned in the description of the property. Leather sofas were replaced 3 years ago and one of our guests asked us where we’d purchased them as they would like to buy the same, again very subjective. I feel as I was overseas I did everything I could to help the guests have a good holiday. Property Owner

An ideal base for visiting the area e.g. the islands of Skye, Eigg, Muck, Rum, Canna and the remote areas of Knoydart and Moidart. Would recommend the magical local beaches of Morar and Cambusdarach

    G. TV took me quite some time to figure out how it worked. Clean windows to appreciate the view would have been a plus. Lack of WiFi was a big negative. Rubbish disposal info was out of date but our neighbors filled us in.

  • "The write up does warn that there are steps up to the property."

Yes, but they are concrete and safe with a rail. Although this could be a problem for some visitors, the view from the sitting room and double bedroom far out ways any inconvenience. The view is beautiful! The fridge does have an internal freezer this is small and a larger separate unit would be better. The double bed is very comfortable and storage is fine.

Paul on emergency number did his best to rectify and, failing, exchanged our set for another. Certainly not a cottage for the disabled with the stepped approach through garden, and car-park up steep bank. Slugs coming through kitchen sink plughole may not be a problem rectifiable!

  • "We enjoyed our stay in a very comfortable cottage with a superb view."

The steps up to the front door would be a challenge for many people. The description of an open fire is misleading. There is a fireplace but it is not set up for use. It would be helpful to note on the website that all books and games have been removed for hygiene reasons. The electric towel rail in the bathroom was not working. There are only three mugs which is insufficient for a property that sleeps four people.

Thank you very much for your comment, we are delighted to heat that you loved your stay and the view. The fireplace is in fact only decorative at the moment, we have amended the description accordingly. The towel rail broke unfortunately, we are trying our best to fix it but we might not be able to until the winter closure of the property. We were not aware of the mugs so thank you for raising this point, we will make sure to get more as soon as possible. Thank you again for the lovely comments. Property Owner

This holiday was clearly missold to me. One of our group had knee issue. Had you described that there were numerous steps to the cottage , I would never have booked this . We were very disappointed and that messed quite a few our plans.

The cottage was nicely kitted out with everything you needed for a short stay. Morar is a very small village with no shops, so ensure you go to the Co-op in Mallaig. The Silver Sands of Morar are stunning and very clean. Good location if you have a car or other transport , only 2 miles from Mallaig. Ideal if you don't want the hussle and bussle of City life. Tranquility Itself!! The scenery is absolutely beautiful and photographs cannot do it justice. Lovely Cottage, well worth a visit

  • "This is a very nice cottage with a lovely situation and beautiful view."

On the whole it is very well-equipped and very comfortable. However, the lack of WIFi is a real difficultly which is not compensated for by the 4G signal. We ended up with a large bill just using 4G to plan our day and to order food etc. We had an unfortunate beginning to our holiday: on arrival we found the dishwasher contained dirty dishes left by the previous party. Since we had no dishwasher tablets we had to spend part of our first evening washing someone else’s dirty dishes by hand - hardly ideal given the COVID situation. However, we would certainly re-book Sandholm despite these problems.

Thanks for your feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed the cottage and the view. We are really sorry to hear there were unwashed dishes left in the dishwasher; this was an oversight of the cleaner. There was a box of tabs under the kitchen sink which must have been used. In future we will leave tabs out for each visit. Regarding WiFi, we do not advertise this as a feature of the property but we realise you may not have noticed this, and we apologise for any inconvenience it may have caused. We look forward to welcoming you back to 1 Sandholm should you decide to book with us again Property Owner

The cottage is very well equipped, immaculately clean and very comfortable, the king size bed is fantastic, slept very well. (Personal preference ....we could have done with a fridge/ freezer rather than a fridge), however we would 100% recommend this property. We had one small issue with the cold water tap when we arrived but Sandra the owner, (who was very pleasant ) dent someone out to fix it the following morning. Superb service, many thanks for making our stay so enjoyable.

  • "This was a very nice cottage and area to stay, I was very happy when I see inside and it was clean and shower looked good and was."

a great view out across to the beech that was only a short walk down and a beautiful beech it is to. the cottage was very well set out with all that was needed. it was a shame that trees stuck up in the view i see it says they are cut back but the trees i see cant be as they are fir trees and they don't grow up once they are cut at top. the steps or ramp up was a bit of a walk but for me no trouble. I had not noticed there was no WIFI and that for me was a shame as there is a phone line so WIFI would make sense to get if possible as I'm sure much business is lost by that or should be clear on wright up no WIFI. and it was a shame that the tv was so bad there is a sky dish with lots of channels that don't work as there's no sky and most of the free view channels didn't work and the ones that did was bad and broke up lots even on good clear days I think it would be good to rip that sky out and get free view dish all set up as i think cables maybe lot of trouble. i feel a welcome pack on table would be nice not much just a letter saying hi and what's what as it was in a folder on a book shelf out the way. but it was nice that there was tea and milk left that's a great touch. my points are not complaints just ideas as the cottage was clean tidy and a joy to stay in the bed was best i have ever stayed in and there's been lots over years. also great stop small walk to see and get pics of steam train one like in harry potter not same one i may add and small walk to beech and the town not far but very busy town. thank you for a good holiday

  • "There were only one roll of toiletpapir."

We had difficulties with the recycling system. It is not fully explained. We live in Denmark There were 3 hard chairs for the garden and one very small table. In the future the trees in front of the house will ruin the view. The 2 single beds were too short for my 2 sons. In spite of this we enjoyed our stay very much. Its a lovely place with a beautiful view. The lake, the river, the train and the beach with the changing tides were far from Denmark and we loved it. The busdrivers were friendly and helpful. We were travelling by train. We loved our stay.

Thank you for your feedback, I am glad to hear you enjoyed your stay in the Scottish Highlands. Unfortunately one of the garden chairs was damaged by a previous guest, this is currently being repaired. The two single beds are standard singles and the trees at the front of the property are cut every month to ensure the view is still visible. Property Owner

We were really hot at night and with very light curtains in the double bedroom also awoke too early. The beds were very comfortable though. Otherwise though the place was great. The warning about steps was well justified and maybe a photo to show the steps would help, my husband who has mobility issues had not expected quite so many.

Thank you for your feedback. The curtains at the property are lined but during summertime in the Highlands the sun does come up very early and sets very late. I am glad you enjoyed your stay at 1 Sandholm. Property Owner

When we arrived it was very clean and warm. There are spectacular views of Eigg and Rum from the living room and main bedroom. Everything was in the cottage that we needed. There are great beaches in walking distance from the cottage. Plan ahead in order to maximise time on the islands as on particular days the ferry crossings permit longer periods on the islands. We also did the walk to Tarbet and caught the ferry to Inverie - well worth it!

  • "There were many positive elements to this accomodation, such as the location, the view, clean carpets and high standard bedding."

However there were quite a few niggly complaints. The double bed was very firm and small; the toilet seat was loose; the shower head was very small; the dining table and chairs were wobbly and felt a little unsafe. Having only one frying pan was tricky when trying to cook a Scottish breakfast for 4 adults, otherwise the kitchen was fairly well stocked for self catering. Overall, considering the cost, I would consider some areas to be tired and in need of refurbishment/ upgrading.

I have had the toilet seat checked and it’s as tight as can be maybe a little give but that’s all. With regard to the double bed being small all double beds are 4ft 6ins but we are replacing over the winter to a King bed. The dining table and chairs are being replaced too but the existing ones are safe. With regard to the frying pan the booking was made for two guests not four and the other frying pan had been burnt by previous guests. This winter we are having a refurbishment after the wear and tear of the season. The preceding guests left a card and a box of chocolates to say thank you and will be back next year. Property Owner
