  • "The cottage was perfect for a family of two adults and two teenagers, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay."

The location is second to none, with the loch a very short walk away, hotel bar nearby and amazing hidden beaches. Kayaking over to the large wooded islands in the loch was such an adventure. Mallaig has everthing you need for shopping only 2 mile drive. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to others. I would just suggest a mattress topper for the double bed for more comfort. The garden is spacious and a lovely place to sit out with a view of the mountains behind, we often saw deer in the garden behind the cottage. Would love to return as there is so much more to explore.....!

Thank you for your comments. With regard to your suggestion we have now replaced the beds for new beds and mattresses to ensure greater comfort for our guests. Property Owner

  • "Quiet and peaceful place to stay."

Short drive to Mallaig. Good for walks and close to Silver Sands of Morar. Beds were very uncomfortable, creaking and mattresses need to be replaced immediately. We noticed that other previous residents have complained about them. We were excited to see deer in our garden. Be prepared for a complete detox from the internet and telephone. You may enjoy that or get frustrated without internet access. Be prepared for poor network coverage. It would have been nice to have some bread, milk and eggs in the fridge, and some tea bags and coffee sachets.

  • "The beds and mattresses need replaced."

For this amount of money it’s the least you would expect. We were happy with everything except this. It was disappointing because we paid a lot to have lumpy mattresses and headboards that weren’t properly attached. But the location was excellent and the space was a good size with a great garden.

  • "Excellent location for exploring the surrounding area."

Beautiful beaches only a 5 minute drive away. Cottage is lovely, and opening the French doors to a lovely large garden was an evening highlight. We were lucky enough to see 2 deer within the garden late afternoon and our daughter was was able to feed them. Definitely a highlight. Only let down were the beds. Unfortunately we didn't find them comfy.

  • "Had a very comfortable stay in this basically adequate cottage."

Great to have plenty hot water and easily adjusted heating as required. Very peaceful. Great location. Only thing which would have enhanced our stay - a freezer or at least a freezer compartment would have been good. Folk often bring ready prepared or easy to make meals for the first few days!

  • "Absolutely lovely little cottage, very close to Morar beach and a couple of miles from Mallaig."

Nicely located to be away from the bustling tourist areas but still close enough to things like the beaches and ferries. Wonderful owners who left us to our own devices but were on hand to help when we did things like lose the WiFi password! The cottage had books, DVDs and board games for a rainy day and was well supplied with things like cutlery, crockery, loo roll, towels and other bits and pieces. Extremely clean and tidy too, with a lovely lawn out back for the Children to play outside. Only thing that could have made it more perfect was a hot tub. Really relaxing holiday, would absolutely recommend this wee gem.

  • "Cooinda Cottage provides simple accommodation in a lovely holiday area."

The facilities are adequate. The only really negative comment being the need to instal an additional twin socket for the washing machine and dryer, as at present an extension lead needs to used. There is an allocated patio, that looks out over a pleasant garden. The owners live on the ground floor of the main house with a holiday flat upstairs. There is also a static caravan on site, which the owners use.

Tumble drier vents into the living room Sweeping brush for the floor not suitable at all To use the washing machine and tumble dryer you have to use an extension lead that, you can only plug into a socket above the kitchen worktop and the lead is very close to the kithen sink Dust all over the skirting boards and the radiator in the bathroom is quite disgusting Grease running down the side of the kitchen cupboard from the extractor fan Hot water kept going off

  • "Beautiful part of the country."

Mike was very helpful and kind. However, there were some disappointments with the cottage. We used the washer and dryer and found the dryer vent laying on the floor behind the dryer. So, while we were sitting there in the living room/kitchen the dryer was venting into the air around us. The window was sealed and we were unable to open it for ventilation. We had to open the sliding door and it was raining out and chilly. Also, there weren't any hooks or shelves in the bathroom for hanging wet towels. If those two things were improved upon I would give this cottage a 5 star rating.

  • "Cooinda Cottage is a lovely place to stay."

The setting is brilliant. As there were three of us I did find the kitchen area slightly small with not a lot of worktop space but we managed ok. As we don't drive it was great having the train station close by and Loch Morar is fantastic, just a couple of minutes away. Just walking by the loch or wandering up to the station we saw plenty of wildlife, mainly deer. There are quite a few different walks including both sides of the beach with its white sands not many minutes away. A stunning cottage and area and we would love to go back.
