    “Good WiFi and TV.”

Door lock misaligned, which made it difficult to lock and unlock, so left it unlocked most of the time. Nice walks and beaches nearby. Hose for outside tap would be useful. Great place. Hope to return.

The property

Salmon Bothy is a semi-detached studio apartment in the countryside township of Balchrick, near the scattered harbour village of Kinlochbervie.

Set over a single-storey and sleeping two guests, Salmon Bothy is a romantic retreat within easy reach of Durness and Sandwood Bay Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Britain.

You are greeted to the property with an off-road parking spot before stepping into your studio apartment, where there is a king-size bed for when the evening draws to a close, a sofa to cuddle up on and enjoy some television, if you can take your eyes off the view, and a kitchenette which is great for preparing a picnic or making a romantic dish for your loved one, which you can enjoy together on the dining table.

There is also a shower room so you can keep fresh and get ready for each day in style.

Just a stone's throw away from the property are some beautiful beaches which make for a great day out with a picnic, you can visit the nearby Oldshoremore Beach or for the more active, take a four-mile walk to Sandwood Bay Beach, which has sand dunes and a loch.

Within a short drive, you can explore Kinlochbervie, which has a post office, a shop for any essentials and hotel restaurants serving both food and drink, all year round.

For more excitement, take a day trip to Handa Island where hundreds of puffins can be seen.

Slightly further afar is Durness, with plenty of amenities, a golf course and lots of local history such as Smoo Cave, a cave complex dating back about 5000 years.

About the location

Durness 18 miles; Lairg 46 miles; Thurso 89 miles; Inverness 94 miles.

Situated in the far north west of Scotland, Kinlochbervie is the most northerly of all the fishing ports and boasts a large fish handling depot from where catches are dispatched throughout Europe. Because of this the roads in the surrounding area are first class! The area has a stunning rocky coastline which attracts many visitors throughout the year. The village itself has a well-stocked shop, a post office and hotels and restaurant that are open all year round. From here it is easy to access both Oldshoremore Beach and the more famous Sandwood Bay Beach which some claim is the most beautiful beach in Britain!
