Cottage and location perfect for a totally restful holiday, cottage had everything you needed and spotless, the white sanded beach just out of the rear gate was wonderful

"The cottage was lovely and comfortable."
It was nice to be so close to the beach. I enjoyed using the hob and the kitchen was well equiped. I feel for the money we paid we got excellent value all around. Thank you . We would definitely come back again.
-
"Just home from a second stay at 2 Tougal and it didn’t disappoint."
Beautiful area and lovely well appointed and maintained home. Recommended.
-
"We have just returned from our second visit to this beautiful cottage."
We enjoyed having friends to stay over the weekend as the second bedroom is very - comfortable.it was quiet and peaceful and we love being able to walk over the dunes to the while sandy beach. Thank you for all the advice on local places to eat and walk we were blessed with
-
"Comfortable home from home, in a beautiful area of the country"
-
"The sofa was not great, as it seemed quite used and the cushions slip around easily."
The kitchen could have done with a few more knives and forks, and also there was an immensely heavy cast-iron top for the frying pan (an accident waiting to happen if it were to be inadvertently dropped). All in all though a most enjoyable stay!
-
"Very cosy little cottage."
We had everything we needed. Lovely walks on the beach.
-
"Wonderful, cosy cottage."
Very clean and comfortable. We had a fabulous week.
-
"As has already been commented on in previous reviews, the cottage is lovely for two people to share, or by a family with two small children, but I think that you would struggle with teenage children or another two adults."
On the plus side, the cottage is situated in a lovely area. The beach is a short walk from the cottage. It's ideally situated for exploring the surrounding area. Highlights of our trip were Camusdarroch Beach, Arisaig, Mallaig, and Castle Tioram. The cottage has everything that you wouild need, and is very clean. Good communication with the host.
-
"The cottage was very cozy."
Had everything you could want. Beds were very comfortable and linen provided was a high standard. Everything was very clean and there were clear instructions for all appliances etc. kitchen was well equipped. Key collection was straightforward. It was a shame about the weather but otherwise we had a lovely break. Nice location and convenient for beach Mallaig Arisaig and some lovely scenery. Nothing to do with the cottage but It would have been useful to know about the petrol station issue in Mallaig beforehand.

"We had a wonderful week at 2 Tougal."
A stone's throw from a spectacular beach. Ideal for children. The cottage is amazingly clean and well equipped & cosy. We can't wait to go back as so much more to expire in this beautiful part of Scotland.

"Good Points: - Excellent location for beach, main roads, Arisaig and Mallaig."
- Kitchen area and all appliances and cutlery etc, very high standard. - Very clean when we arrived. - Great response from Sykes and owner with our questions. - Bath towels were of a high quality. - Good selection of tv channels with good reception. Areas To Improve: - High level of dampness throughout the property, paperwork left out was damp the following morning, musty smell in most rooms - the weather was quite warm so did not want to turn heaters on to overcome it, or open the windows due to high midge levels around the cottage. - Bathroom had a good shower but the ventilation was totally inadequate and after the 4th person got showered it was very damp. We had to leave the bathroom door open all day to clear the moisture - same points as above for heaters and windows. - Size Of Property was great if there were two people, with two adults and two teenage children it was inadequate. One Sofa and two chairs sounds ok but the chairs were small and uncomfortable. Even the children found the sofa uncomfortable to sit on. We did not use the fold out dining table due to only having two folded up chairs and a short backless bench. - Again for two the wardrobe space was adequate but not for four.
-
"Nice property."
Very modern inside. Great location to get in the water.
-
"We enjoyed our stay in 2 Tougal."
The cottage is comfortable and clean and ideally situated beside the beautiful white sands of Morar bay.
-
"This cottge is in an idyllic situation, just a few metres across the dunes to a glorious white sandy beach with wonderful views."
It is very cosy and full of character with a good range of appliances. The only little thing which might be a problem if a party of four used it was the dining table, which wasn't very big and had two small fold-up chairs and a short bench for seating.

"2 Tougal is a lovely cosy cottage just a stone's throw from the Silver Sands of Morar."
The beds are comfortable and kitchen well equipped. The rustic small garden is ample with the beach on your doorstep, however a new back gate needs to be prioritised. The current hot water settings need to be amended as there was little to no hot water available for a shower after a day on the beach. With several spectacular beaches and lots of activities in the surrounding area, the cottage is in an ideal location. Communication with Sykes and the cottage owner was satisfactory, though you do pay a premium to book with Sykes. Overall, we'd recommend the cottage for a couple or small family of 3/4 who want a beach based holiday in this gorgeous part of Scotland.
Hi Laura We took on board your comments and we now have a brand new wooden back gate. Apparently the was a fault on the top heating element on the tank in the loft which is now all sorted . All the best Pam Property Owner

"Beautifully decorated cottage."
Very clean and in a wonderful location, moments from a peaceful and beautiful beach.
-
"I would recommend that the shower be changed as it is too big for the bathroom and the water tends to leak out of the end ."
Otherwise had a lovely time and spoke to some lovely neighbours while there. I bought bird food for the birds and within days there was around 30 to 40 birds feeding which was really lovely. Beautiful area and backs on to the beach. Comfortable cottage. Would recommend it to others.
-
"A beautiful cottage ."
Spotlessly clean , with everything provided to make a great stay.
-
"There was an area in the bathroom that water seemed to stand and we were never able to workout the bathroom heating system."
Everything else was fine and we enjoyed our stay.
-
"Good communication, well equipped kitchen, great location."
-
"Lovely location and cottage, great value for money."
Only criticism we would have was we emailed texted and called owners to speak to them but no reply to anything

"We had the most amazing stay at 2 Tougal."
Beautiful little residence with everything you needed for an enjoyable stay. It was a very peaceful location with amazing views. It was the perfect place to unwind and relax. There’s also some great walks in close proximity to the cottage. Altogether we had a very enjoyable week at Tougal. Thanks again.
-
"Beautiful cottage, ideal for R&R."
Having a stunning beach to walk along every morning was the best therapy.
-
"Excellent location for the beautiful beaches which are on the doorstep."
Very comfy accommodation. Would be good to have Tougal listed with other properties at road end as although directions were good not having Tougal listed on one of the boards at entrance made it seem it was not at that location.
-
"This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful part of the west coast of Scotland."
It is near the beach with very easy access for a walk on the white sands. Everywhere nearby was so busy this year but this stretch of beach remained quiet and peaceful. It.was heaven to come home to.
-
"Nice little cottage-and we had great weather so all in all a relaxing week."
-
"The cottage is fabulous."
Everything you need is supplied and it's just a short walk to the beach. The cottage is very clean and had a smart tv which is great for rainy nights in. We went to book again for next year but sadly it's doubled in price so we won't be going back.

"We had an excellent holiday, it is a beautiful and comfortable cottage in a beautiful place."
Everything was there and worked, we cannot complain. The only problem we had was that there were lots of noisy campers on the beach nearby on Friday to Sunday and then again at the end of our stay. They played loud music long after 10pm, shouted until midnight, played dance music again from 9 in the morning and left lots of broken glass, rubbish and excrements on the beach. I don't know if that's normal or if it is a result of this year's 'staycations', but it slightly spoilt the experience. It might not be a problem for adults staying, but our small children were kept awake till late. I am not sure if there is anything the owners can do about this, but many communities took the action of making rules about when music can be played near houses and people are fined if they leave rubbish behind. Our experience with Sykes Cottages was awful though and we decided never to book through them again. They did not communicate with us at all when covid-19 pandemic hit in spring 2020, never replied several emails and messages that I sent them, and then basically forced us to rebook to this year at a higher price, otherwise we would loose all money. I believe that was unlawful behaviour by this company, but I could not be bothered to take them to court. However, I joined the Sykes Cottages Unhappy Customers Facebook page and saw that we were not alone at all, that is standard treatment by this company and some people ended up treated even much worse, losing thousands due to unlawful trading of this company. Will never again give them (or their associates) another penny of my money.

"Our stay in Tougal was excellent."
The cottage was very clean and had everything required for a week away. We had great weather and enjoyed every minute. We hope to be back again soon!
-
"We had a great time great equipment, facilities and location only downside is the bathroom, which was very cold."
-
"Great holiday cottage in a great location."
-
"Excellent cottage - with the added bonus of finding its back gate led directly down to the beach."
-
"Brilliant cottage but hard to find in the dark."
Owners very helpful when we rang them and we eventually found it.
-
"The cottage was small but perfect for our short stay."
Right on the beautiful beach, we were blessed with warm weather, so had several days on the beach. Safe for children to paddle. There were lots of people camping on the beach during our stay but we still managed to get a good spec on the beach. The police shut the road during our stay to stop overcrowding. Horse riding just down the road is really good, they took us trekking on the beach and horses paddled in the sea Beds in the cottage were very comfortable. As owners suggest, its good to stock up on food and supplies in Fort William, unfortunately we had a car full so shopped in the small co-op in Mallaig. A stop at Glenfinnan is well worth the views, particularly if you have Harry Potter fans like we do, but get there early before the crowds. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we totally relaxed
-
"On the gate it says: 'a place to unwind' we all felt this to be completely true."
And to be able to wander across the back garden, onto the sand dunes and straight onto our sandy beach was incredible - it made the holiday!
-
"Lovely, cosy and well equipped cottage only a short distance from the beach."
Great for families of all ages, would highly recommend.
-
"We had an excellent holiday at this comfortable and well appointed cottage which is in a great location."
Excellent wood burning stove. One issue - the property details state 'fuel and power is included in the rent' which is not quite right. Only enough logs and kindling were provided for one evening. Fortunately we took a sack of logs and kindling with us 'just in case', and logs are readily available in nearby Mallaig. You will need to correct the details accordingly.
-
"A great wee cottage in a superb location."
Cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, the bed was very comfy and the kitchen very well equipped. The beach on your back door was the icing on the cake.
-
"Fabulous week at this cottage."
Beautiful location with the most stunning beaches. Fantastic place to relax and unwind. Plenty of lovely walks to do. The cottage was perfect, clean, modern, and very comfortable it had everything you could possibly want or need in a holiday home. Best sleep ever in the double bed! Great heating system always cosy and you could burn the log fire if you so desired. I would highly recommend a stay at this cottage. We loved it :)
-
"Brilliantly located cottage with the silver sands a 2 minute walk away and walking distance to all beaches between Morar and Arisaig."
Cottage really well equipped and as lovely as it looks in the photos. Will definitely be back soon!
-
"The location where the cottage is was stunning."
White sandy beaches beautiful scenery all around short drive to malaig where you can get the ferry to skye will definitely go back .
-
"The cottage provided a compact, comfortable base with everything that we needed for our stay in this beautiful part of Scotland."
It was peaceful, with no problems parking and direct access to a stunning sandy beach. It is a perfect place to relax but also a good starting point to begin to explore the area and local customs, including the Highland games in Arisaig and Mallaig.
-
