  • "Our time at Hilltop was good."

The house was clean and very comfortable. I had only two issues thus being a frying pan that wasn't fit for purpose and that had been reported in a previous review but had not been changed! The second issue was the oven hadn't been cleaned and as such I didn't use. I did report this to owner. Despite these minor issues we did have a lovely time in Hilltop - as said it was clean, comfortable and warm. It was far from shops but that was mentioned in the blurb. There were a few places of interest around the area.

  • "Perfect property in a lovely location."

An ideal mix of home comforts in a private and secluded area, just what we were after. Lots of space for your dog to stretch its legs , if you have a small breed there are some areas of the fence where an escape may be possible but for ours it was fine. The night sky was one of the highlights for us . The owner is friendly and always on hand to answer questions or sort out any niggles. We loved our stay , 10/10, thank you !

Hello Joanne, thank you very much for your kind review. I am really pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Kind regards Property Owner

  • "We had an amazing week staying at the cottage."

The cottage had everything we needed, the beds were comfy the kitchen well equipped. We all loved the views and the peace and quiet. Our holiday was made even more special by the local crofters that live down the lane. They talked to us about their way of life and their love of the ponies. Our daughter especially loved the new foal. I don’t think words can adequately describe the memories that we have made in your lovely cottage and beautiful island. Thank you

  • "A few logs and kindling for guests arriving would have been nice and surely not a financial burden to the owners."

The property is very remote and as such it would have been nice to be able to put the burner on, on the first night, until guests are able to the buy some logs and kindling the next day.

  • "Beautiful location at the top of Skye."

Lots of hot water in the property and great central heating. beds were lovely and soft. WIFI was great. Would benefit from instructions for the oven and washing machine. More oven trays would help with cooking. Some of the ceramic ovenware needs replacing as badly cracked and may split. would be good to have a sieve or colander in the kitchen. The towels were very small. We kept our dogs on leads in the garden as there were lots of holes that they could escape through.

  • "A lovely cottage in wonderful location."

Well equipped for everything you need for a good holiday. You have to travel to get necessary items but you can get what you need within a 10/15 minutes drive. Some wonderful scenery around this part of the Island. If you like walking then this is for you. The whole family , including the dog, thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would recommend this place.

  • "This is a really lovely house in a beautiful location."

We are a family of 2 adults, 2 teens and a dog and we enjoyed every minute of our 2 week stay. The weather was better then expected and we got out for walks every day. Lots straight from the door. We didn’t do a lot of the big tourist things as we prefer quieter spots but could have got to plenty if we wanted to. The house is pretty remote so things are often a decent drive away but once you get used to the roads they are easy to navigate. The shop on Staffin is well stocked for essentials and about 15 minutes drive away. House had everything we needed, to make a very comfortable holiday. Beds were comfy and the living room had plenty of room for all is us. The garden was secure for our dog (and she loved it) who doesn’t try and escape but if you have a dog who likes to wiggle out they may find a gap. I don’t think you could find a house with more spectacular views.

  • "Thank you for a wonderful stay at Hilltop House."

Our family had a wonderful week. The property is in a great location, we visited the Old Man of Storr, the Quiraing, amazing dino footprints at Brother's Point, the beach at An Corran, the Skye Highland Games and took a wildlife boat tour from Portree! The washing machine and clothes airer were very helpful, especially with two boys. The house was comfortable and the mug selection was brilliant! A few kitchen items could possibly do with replacing (sharp knives and frying pan) but I would certainly recommend the property and loved our stay. Thank you.

But we found places to walk locally. Our car did not move off the drive until Thursday. We absolutely loved this holiday, we also got very lucky with the weather. Isle of Skye is fabulous.
