  • "We had a lovely time exploring Skye from this cottage."

The cottage is located in a stunning location on Loch na Cairidh & makes the most of its location by having large windows for you to enjoy the views. The house was very clean & tidy, the rooms spacious & the kitchen was well equipped. We found it strange that the larger lounge area that has the corner sofa in had a tv but it was not connected to a freeview / freesat box so could only be used to play DVDs (which we couldn't get to work). It's the only lounge that 6 people can sit in together & the one with the best views over the bay. Guests should be aware that check in is not until 6pm & for many months of the year that is in darkness. The road outside is the A87 & is a fast road for those vehicles that know it well so trying to find the property in the dark wasn't easy (the postcode covers a large area) & the directions that it's the 4th house on the right isn't much help in the dark. The house would benefit from a much stronger outside light & the parking is outside of the enclosed garden gate so is completely unlit. When we did park up the house is not called The House on The Cari on the gate but a Gaelic name so we were still not 100% sure we were at the correct place. Guests should also be made aware that the freezer is in an outbuilding with no lighting from the house so you need a torch to see your way around safely.

  • "We had to reschedule this holiday due to the pandemic and Sykes made it very easy for us to do so."

The staff we spoke to were very helpful and friendly and called back with updates as promised. We had a wonderful time at the house. There were only two of us staying due to changes in circumstances from our booking and so it was very spacious. As mentioned in other reviews the house would benefit from some repairs and modernising but that did not affect our holiday at all. The views are magnificent.

  • "The cottage is in a lovely setting, the cleanliness was the issue, the kitchen in particular was filthy food stains splashed on wall tiles kettle in cupboards!"

No way was it cleaned to covid standards, I was shocked by how dirty it was and having to clean work surfaces kettle and fridge before we could use was not great.

  • "A pleasant base to explore the Isle of Skye with ample off road parking, we got a nice warm welcome from the owners as well."

Be sure to take some binoculars as there’s a good chance to sea otters and sea eagles. The Garden is large and fully enclosed which was perfect for our 2 pointers.

  • "Spacious, comfortable cottage with a secure garden."

The location was stunning. The only negative was the standard of cleaning in the kitchen. Some surfaces had obviously not been cleaned for some time and the fridge hadn’t been emptied. We cleaned the kitchen before unpacking our supplies. Other than that the house added to our enjoyment of our stay on Skye and we plan to return to the cottage in the future.

  • "No welcome pack, not even a pint of milk in the fridge."

Uneven floor surface in the back living room. No instructions as to use of facilities. Outdated furniture. We come to Skye often and usually not in the same accommodation. The good thing about the house was it’s size and it had a great location.

  • "Cottage was beautiful."

Some small issue with repairs that were needed but I believe these were addressed as soon as we left. Could do with some white lines outside of parking area so that it is easier to see in the dark.
