  • "This property is one of the best we have stayed in - it is well designed, well appointed, well equipped and very comfortable."

There are many touches that put it above usual expectations, from a very generous welcome pack, to provision of an umbrella, torch and a radio. We have used this property three years in a row now, and standards have been maintained each year. A very impressive property, and thoroughly recommended.

  • "Fantastic place to stay, nice hosts, lovely extra's like a welcome basket of goodies and treats for the dogs."

Good shower and comfy beds. Would be lovely to have a bigger freezer rather than the tiny 'ice box' that's part of the fridge. Good thought gone into providing shovel, broom and salt for the paths as there was a substantial snowfall during our stay. It understandably limited our options of where we could go but it didn't matter as the immediate scenery from the cottage was stunning and it was so lovely to spend time there once the heating/hot water issues had been sorted. Unfortunately due to the very low temperature at night, down to -8 degrees, the underfloor heating and hot water powered by a ground source heat pump struggled and after 24 hours it cut out. This can be a common problem with ground source heat pumps so a suggestion is when the temperature is very low, please warn guests of the potential issues so they can inform you sooner. Due to its operating nature, it is slow to react to any thermostat or operational changes e.g. cutting out, power cuts etc. Thankfully, the owners provided more logs for the wood burner very quickly and the consequent engineer sorted the problem within about 6-7 hours. Great garden for the dogs as it's properly fully enclosed. Also, the garden and bird feeders attracted a lot of different birds which came up close to the cottage. Again, a nice extra thought was all of the many bird feeders were filled up The fact that this cottage is almost fully booked for the rest of the year is testament to how lovely this cottage is. Would have liked to return later in the year but will have to wait for suitable affordable availability next year. Thanks for a lovely break away.

Sue & family were the perfect hosts and extremely accommodating with my requests when booking, which was very much appreciated. The welcome pack was exceptional, and the tiny details and little extras provided in the cottage made it the perfect stay. Spinneyfields is bright, spacious and very clean. It has a wonderful view over to the mountains and the cottage itself and garden were so pretty, I could have relaxed there all day watching the birds, but with so much to do nearby we were out all day, and then spent our evenings enjoying the view from the sofa or veranda. I would highly recommend anyone stay here and would certainly rebook again. Thankyou very much to Sue, Nick & Amy for the most wonderful week in your beautiful cottage.

The cottage was everything we hoped it would be, it was in a lovely, relatively isolated location with views over the snow capped mountains on the other side of the valley. It was extremely clean and looked after, warm and cosy and had all the modern appliances you could wish for. We were lucky with the weather, it was quite sunny with very little rain to curtail our plans for walking and sightseeing from Inverroy to Fort William, Mallaig, Loch Ness, Inverness, Aviemore and the Isle of Skye to name a few. The cottage is very well located and we will without doubt return. We would like to thank the owners for a wonderful holiday

The property is well finished with everything you require and it was very clean with good quality furnishings and equipment. I have a small dog and with Suela's encouragement for this first time in a rental, I let him run free in the garden, because the attention to detail in the cottage, is extended to the garden and it is safe! We loved our stay at this relaxing cottage. Everything was perfect. The large “properly” enclosed garden was great for the dogs. Beds, couches super comfy. Lovely and warm with underfloor heating and the log burner. The welcome hamper was generous and also included treats for the dogs. Little touches such as plenty of dishwasher tablets / washing pods / toilet rolls, and the best home from home well equipped kitchen we have ever seen in a holiday cottage. The veranda was perfect to sit out in the morning watching all the different birds - and deer! Brilliant location to visit other areas, glenfinnan , Inverness Loch Ness, fort William , Ben Nevis , arisaig beach all with in an hour driving from the cottage. Sue the owner - such a nice lady- stopped by to say hello and mid week to top up the bird feeders. So happy to have found such a clean comfortable super relaxing cottage and location in the highlands. We have booked again for later in the year and next spring - can’t wait to go back!

This was by far the best cottage we’ve ever stayed in. The welcome pack was outstanding M&S Chocolate cake, biscuits, bread, eggs, milk, butter, jams etc. (M&S food hall is in Fort William.) Half of the things you generally take were not needed as they were already provided, even the dogs were catered for with treats and even a dog towel for muddy paws. Hose pipe in the garden to rinse dogs off if needed too. Cottage immaculately clean, super comfy beds, soft fluffy towels, cuddly sofas and a kitchen that wants for nothing equipment wise. Even sandwich bags and food containers for picnics were in the cupboards. Garden is fully dog proof and our two Lhasa’s loved it. Bird feeders fully stocked by Sue and had a plethora of birds visit on mass, even a Woodpecker called numerous times a day! Sue called in to welcome us and is just up the road if needed. She also sells freshly laid hen and duck eggs from her drive so take some bacon. Local Spar in Spean Bridge was a godsend although we did get a Morrisons delivery to cottage the morning after we arrived. Eating out was tricky as everything local was packed or closed (Bridge cafe was never open.) Fort William was only 10 miles away and had everything. Thank you to Sue for a beautiful cottage which made our visit to Scotland one we won’t forget for a long time.

It is definitely the best we have ever stayed in in Scotland. Everything we could have needed was provided, along with lots of extras - like a delicious cake and some essential groceries. The cottage was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished and full of lovely items that gave it such a homely feel. We had only stayed there a day before I went online and booked again for the summer! What better recommendation is there than that?!! Their Sykes Award is well deserved.

Sue & Nick are excellent hosts, attentive without being intrusive, they clearly care a great deal about what they do and the service that they provide. The cottage has everything that you can think of and lots that you wouldn't even think about providing the ideal experience. The small touches are what makes a holiday cottage a home and it is no exaggeration to say that Spinnyfields is most definitely a home away from home. Massive attention to detail has been paid in every room. The added bonus of a nightly visit from a Pine marten was unexpected!! We cannot recommend Spinnyfields highly enough, this should be the only property that you consider if you are visiting Fort William.

It's located so well to various walks and days out , we enjoyed how peaceful the area the house is situated was . The garden was fully enclosed which gave us peace of mind with our dog and 2 young children . She left a lovely homemade ginger cake for us, but because one of our group wasn’t keen on ginger she popped back the next day with a chocolate cake made especially for her. We will be back!

  • "Gorgeous cottage in a lovely location."

Very convenient for a lot of local walks, munros, and Fort William for a bit of shopping or somewhere to eat. The view from the cottage is stunning and with a covered balcony and large windows, we were able to enjoy it whatever the weather. There is underfloor heating for a steady temperature, but a log burning stove (supplies provided) for that evening boost. But that did mean limited places to dry washing when we got wet on the hills and needed dry kit for the following day. The enclosed garden was great - our 2 border terriers loved it and it was secure enough for them. A concerted escape artist could wriggle under the wire fence in a couple of places, but ours showed no such interest. Beware there are wood floors throughout, which our two found very slippy (they're used to carpet). There was a field of sheep one garden over behind thin woodland, so again, a highly driven hunter might show a lot of interest. These definitely aren't complaints, just factors to be aware of if you are bringing a dog with you. The place was incredibly clean and well-stocked. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the surrounding peace and quiet was lovely. We made use of the small selection of games and books for evening entertainment. The TV doesn't receive many terrestrial channels, but there is a smart TV that has Netflix and access to the internet, so we were able to access a lot of options that way. A gorgeous batch of home-baked cakes met us on arrival, as well as freshly-laid eggs. We had a thoroughly lovely week and would happily come back time and again.
