"In general the property was amazing."
.. plenty of space and storage and in a beautiful area
A few things took the shine off the stay.....
At the outset the en-suite lights didn’t work and despite visits and assurances by the house manager (Jamie), they still were not working by the end of the week
The dishwasher leaked all over the utility room floor the first time we used it, and this wasn’t fixed either, so everything we used had to be hand washed
The entrance to the home from the car park was approached via a set of stairs which was not lit, and considering we arrived after dark, about 6pm! We couldn’t see the steps, resulting in 1 adult and a child tripping over the bottom step..... unnecessary tears had it simply had a wee light
There were utensils missing or broken, and there was a broken glass and mug put away in the cupboard
On the whole the census of opinion on our visiting party was that we had a fantastic holiday, helped by the access to the pool table, and plenty of games and books
We had a great time and would certainly recommend the cottage and Sykes to others, but I would feel it remiss if I didn’t give you feedback in improving the home
Thank you

"Its an absolutely lovely house and we really enjoyed staying there."
Things that could improve the experience:
- the beds are not especially comfy; perhaps new mattresses are overdue
- we had to clean all the hair out of the ensuite shower drain to allow water to recede
- there is a ridiculously small bin in the kitchen for a house for 8 people.

"The cottage was absolutely excellent for 7 of us."
Never stayed anywhere with so many communal rooms! We loved the games room and played a lot of pool :). Excellent WiFi. Comfortable beds. Great utility room, plenty of space all round and really well equipped. We thought the location and outlook was brilliant. Would not hesitate to return.
Small point but the garden - whilst massive - is not enclosed and is technically shared with neighbouring cottage. We pushed the bins over so our dog wouldn't wander over to neighbour's back door but had to watch him, which was all right but might be difficult for a livelier or wandering dog. Secondly one of the double beds was fairly small so one couple used a single room too! We still found the house exceeded our expectations though.

"Feel bad saying this as the owners were absolutely lovely and very helpful."
However the property was a little tired around the edges for some of the fixtures and fittings, especially given the high price tag. It is, however, conveniently located, a large property, and has lots more potential. The owners were very responsive and did their best when a number of faults occurred, including the boiler and the dishwasher breaking down (obviously these things happen, so this is not a complaint and they did sort things out rapidly).

"Great location, only 10 mins away from Portree and wonderfully accommodating."
Couple of tips , if you are using the Ensuite in the master bedroom, turn the power to low before switching on then move it up to high ( it cuts out if you start it at high) Also WiFi extender did not work. Apart from the 2 minor things mentioned, we had a great and relaxing time , highly recommended place to stay

"A fabulous house with loads of room for a family of 6."
The well equipped dining kitchen, lounge(s) and games room was terrific
Perfectly situated and nice and cosy to come back to after a full days exploring. Only negative was that the mattresses on the beds were so soft. If there was any reason not to book here again it would possibly be because of the achy backs in the morning! But on the whole a lovely comfortable family feel house

"Location of cottage is excellent for exploring Skye."
As Skye has no gas the heating side of things is a bit of a challenge to master in this cottage but this is a minor issue vastly outweighed by the great kitchen and lounge.

"It was very difficult to find property especially after a long drive."
The Post Code is very miss leading and takes you no where near the property.
The property is on the main road with good landmarks to find it. We were advised that others had found similar difficulties and it has been reported to Sykes who in their wisdom have simply chosen to ignore clients problems.
Not a very good recommendation for Sykes Cottages

"The cottage was a great size and the kitchen well equipped."
We never quite got to grips with the storage heaters but some rooms had additional heating. The fire in the lounge makes a constant noise. Some improvements could be made elsewhere. Not all single beds are used by children and although the twin bedded room was fine, a couple of single rooms did not have good quality mattresses. It’s not always families that book cottages, very often it’s groups of friends and adults need decent beds otherwise they don’t sleep well.
The jacuzzi bath would be great if there was a shower curtain you could pull around the bath. I used it once and the floor got soaked so I had to turn it off. Pointless having it if you can’t use it.

"House is big and nice overall, but of the 3 showers/bath tubs, two of them are a bit unusable (one fancy bath tub with hydromassage does not have any curtain or similar and water goes out creating a mess)."
Fridge is huge and modern but it was not working properly, not going below 11 degrees even if we set it to the mininum.
We paid double than in other places in Scotland, but this is the price in Skye Island I guess.

"The cottage was in a beautiful location and quite convenient to the wonderful town of Portree and other scenic attractions."
It was well appointed and charming. If there was any criticism it would be the lack of extra bedding and towels. The nights were chilly and extra blankets are nice as we prefer cooler temps for sleeping.
