  • "We enjoyed staying at this compact cottage."

It's in a wonderful location. Nicely renovated: open plan kitchen lounge diner. Newly kitted out. Shower in wash room is good and a large size. There isn't a garden but car parking is fine to side of cottage,

  • "We had a lovely stay at Keepers Cottage."

The cottage was warm, comfy and cozy. The views are fantastic and it's a great base for exploring Skye. It's just off the beaten track so it's nice and quiet. The cottage has most things you would need. It provides washing up liquid, a sponge, dish washer tablets, washing powder, coffee, a few tea bags and a nice box of biscuits. The heaters are little electric ones that you can put on a timer. They heat up really quickly if you need a little extra warmth. A nice little place

    We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • "Lovely scenery, quiet and weather just right."

Would have liked to have somewhere we could sit outside. Really enjoyed the use of the boat. Good idea to bring own pillow and washing machine replaced as needed.

  • "The cottage was lovely and warm in January and the kitchen well equipped."

Views from the cottage are beautiful and it is very convenient for exploring the north end of Skye. The living room might have been a bit cramped if there had been four adults eating, sitting and moving around in it but great for the two of us. Both bedrooms were easily big enough for two though and with plenty of storage space.

Lovely cottage in a lovely area.

  • "Stunning location, good base for exploring the island."

Shame the promised boat wasn’t available, we were looking forward to getting on the water.

  • "We have just stayed at the cottage."

It is definitely not a 4 star rating but is comfortable. Lacking was an outside sitting area and an enclosed area for dogs. There are great walks starting at the front door. Speed is a problem for some of the road users so keep an eye on kids and dogs. Great walk down to the beach and mussels and cockles galore. Found our very own 'fairy pool' and waterfall too. The oldest bakery in Skye down in Dunvegan sells the most gorgeous chocolate cake. Would we be back? It would be a definite yes!

  • "We all had a lovely holiday in the cottage, everything we needed was there, all very clean, we couldn't get the radiator in the sitting room to work but we did use the electric fire, also maybe provide a few more toilet rolls, but not any major problems, I would definitely use the cottage again if I come back to Skye."

  • "The cottage is pretty well equipped though it could do with a new kettle - we couldn’t get the lid off to fill it!"

Another sauté pan would come in handy. Otherwise we had no major problems though one of the storage heaters wasn’t working.

  • "The location is fantastic - we couldn't have asked for better."

Close enough to Portree and Dunvegan, but isolated enough to get away from it all. Nearby Edinbane Inn was great - the people were very welcoming to us and our dogs and we enjoyed the live music there. The cottage was clean and although fairly basic, had everything that we needed. The living space was quite small for four adults and our two dogs, but as we spent most of our time out and about that wasn't a major issue. We are already looking at visiting again next year :)

  • "On arriving very sad to see how shabby the outside of Keepers Cottage had been allowed to deteriorate."

But was pleased the inside was really nice and well equipped . The negative parts were as follows , Water flow in the bathroom sink was a extremely SLOW trickle, and the tiles around the bath and floor tiles need a deep clean , I suggest the owner tries a product called Mould and Mildew Spray , it work ! It also would be better that they said NO to dogs as it is open land with grazing sheep which meant our dog could not roam around outside alone. Once our negative comments are dealt with I would 100% recommend Keepers Cottage . There is no phone signal or WIF .....but we didn't go to have to use gadgets ! .

The cottage had all that we needed and more and we left feeling very relaxed. We have no need for wi-fi or mobile phones on holiday so had no issue with that aspect.

About the location

Portree 22 miles.

The village of Dunvegan is set in the north west of Skye and contains a mixture of traditional stone and modern houses, along with a selection of shops and hotels. About a mile from the village is Dunvegan Castle, home to the Clan MacLeod, who have continuously occupied the castle since the 13th century. Only four miles away is the famous Three Chimneys Restaurant, a must for all foodies, and just a 10 minute walk away is the very popular Old School Restaurant, also worth a visit. Also in the area are the Cullin Mountains with their fantastic rock forms and pinnacles, which many climbers would put at the top of their list. Other attractions on the Isle are plentiful - visit the Talisker Distillery or Portree, the island’s only town, set around its natural harbour, which boasts an excellent range of shops, hotels and restaurants, and also offers Sea Eagle trips from the pier, which are extremely popular.
