    “Stunning!”

We stayed in Bothan Aonghais for a week and celebrated the New Year there. The cottage is in a stunning location, with sea views from the bedroom, lounge and kitchen windows. Inside, there is everything you could ask for and more. We did a lot of cooking in the very well-equipped kitchen. The bed was super comfy, the shower powerful and the towels nice and fluffy. We enjoyed relaxing by the fire after a long day walking. Pat (the owner) greeted us on arrival and left us lots of goodies, a lovely ...

Pat (the owner) greeted us on arrival and left us lots of goodies, a lovely touch! Pat was incredibly friendly and helpful and you can see how much she loves and cares about her cottage and her guests. My fiancé and I got married on the decking outside the cottage, overlooking the sea, with Pat and her sister in law as witnesses. A perfect day for us, in a perfect place, in perfect company. And all that during a perfect week on Skye. We will be back.

About the location

UIG

Portree 15 miles.

The village of Uig (pronounced "Oo-ig"), at the northern tip of Skye, rests on the shores of Loch Snizort, Skye’s largest sea loch off the Atlantic. The village boasts two pubs, two shops, a hotel, a filling station and cafe, as well as two other businesses well-worth a visit. Uig Pottery sells a range of high quality pottery produced on-site, while the Skye Brewery sells its own superb real ales from the brewery shop. Sheltered by high cliffs, the bay is one of the most beautiful in Skye, and is home to the ferry terminal for the Outer Hebrides. Wildlife in the area includes golden eagles, sea eagles, pilot whales, seals and dolphins. The attractions of the Isle, including the main town of Portree, are all within easy reach of this tranquil base.
